Did you know that the same production company/ animation studio that made Shrek and Antz did the animation for some of these commercials? The company's name was PDI and they were bought out by DreamWorks in 2000. The studio unfortunately was closed in 2015 though due to DreamWorks' financial issues at the time. However, PDI still has the record for being the longest existent 3D animation studio operating a total of slightly over 35 years, between the dates January 1, 1980 - January 22, 2015. To put this into perspective Pixar as of writing in 2017 is only about 31 years old.
Happy Birthday Dreamcast. You will forever hold a special place. I decided today that on my birthday this year I’ll finally buy myself one. It’s the one console that I have loved and always wanted since I was a kid!
......Apparently notI actually own a dreamcast sad to see sega fall. The genesis cdx (sega cd built into a genesis) however remains my personal favorite sega system
The Sega Saturn fucked them. Many 3rd party developers refused to make games for the Dreamcast because the Saturn was a huge flop. And the fact that the PS2 could play DVDs.
I think this commercial tells about the Playstation stealing Sega's ideas. but predicted the Dreamcast would be 10 times bigger than the Playstation, but Sega predicted wrong
Oh man, I remember when I was probably 8 in 1999, I just wanted a Dreamcast so badly, those commercials were tempting me, but for my 9th b-day I got a PS1 which I also wanted. I still plan on getting a Dreamcast someday, don't care if it's old. Too bad there'll never be a Dreamcast 2.
1:47 Afro Thunder and Sarah Bryant are supposed to be 5'7" and 5'8" respectively. Either Thunder was depicted too short or Bryant was depicted too tall. As much as I like having a GTS fetish, I still find this odd for its inaccuracy.
I remember Dreamcast like it was yesterday. I was 15 years old and got one for Christmas of 1999. I was immediately blown away by it's graphics considering my console before was a N64. Also what made it special was the fact that the new millennium was approaching. We were all paranoid over Y2k and here I am playing a awesome new gaming system. NFL2k, Tony Hawk Pro Skater, NBA2k were my available games at the time and my god it was unreal. However, a few months in I began noticing issues... The system would crash during gameplay and it felt like the games and accessories were a bit pricey. Dreamcast was never really a solid reliable system but I think the reason is that it was just a little too ahead of it's time. Later I got a PS2 when that came out. It wasn't much excitement to me, but it was def a more solid made system and thus put Dreamcast to collect dust. Anyways, that's my 2 cents on Sega Dreamcast.
I remember getting the Dreamcast for Christmas myself and i had came from owning a n64 as well. Good times. My first 3 games were Skies of arcadia, Grandia 2 (which was sold out everywhere for some reason) and Shenmue. That was my favorite Christmas, I was hooked om Shenmue and beat it before the school break was over. The Dreamcast didnt have a huge library but it was a gem to me just like the n64.
I got mine also when it first came out and later got rid of it because Sega wasn't supporting it and got out of the console business I still kick myself in the butt for getting rid of it as it was and still is an amazing console!
I was a 5 year old at the time and got the Dreamcast at Christmas in 1999 too. 2K sports games, Crazy Taxi, Flag 2 Flag Racing, and of course Sonic Adventure were the first few games me and my brother played.
Go Pro Ben I was 16 in 1999 and I remember at least in my school no one talked about sega. It was mostly about the PlayStation and a few liked Nintendo 64. Like everyone else I didn't pay attention to the dreamcast. Abit later I did finally tried it. I remember getting mine in February 2001. I was blown away by it. I very much underestimated it.
I have had a sega dreamcast since they first came out. I have to say I was sad when they killed it and stopped making games for it. I have a lot of games for my dreamcast and I still play them today. The dreamcast was one of the best Sega game system that uses CD for there games. The vmu (memory car) is very cool it not only stores your games for you but you can play little games on it too.
Video games are still fun to play nowadays, though. Its just that Microsoft and Sony don’t really add any creativity into their commercials like they’ve used to before.
I remember when Jermaine had this console when his grandmother was my caregiver as my mom was at work! Also, I used play it and see him play it when kids' shows stopped airing after a certain time as some channels were scrambled. But that is all different because now we have flat screen TV's and computers. Too bad they did not make Dreamcast 2 (II). Toronto did not have a lot of condominiums downtown back then or many accessible TTC bus routes, but now it does. Boy, have times changed.
So basically they invented ASMR before it was a thing

Whispering woman was a marketing strategy in the late 90s and 2000s. It was used because it evokes the millennium and technology, and it looked a bit sexy due to the tone of its voice (sex sells). Nintendo also used whispering woman in DS commercials.
Originally I wasn't planning on getting a dreamcast, because I was just going to wait for the ps2, but when watching this commercials I decided to get one. I did not get it at launch but got it 2 days later after its launch at my local toys r us. Boy did I enjoy this console, I had a blast with it. I bought 2 games with my dreamcast, sonic adventure and soul caliber, amazing games. When the ps2 came out I was one of the lucky ones to get it at launch, but did not enjoyed it as much like I did the dreamcast. For me the dreamcast is my all time favorite console, great memories.
If Sega ever decides to return to the console wars, they should rebuild their reputation first. After all, the Sega of yesteryear was known for high-quality, innovative games instead of half-baked Sonic games.

Sega could never return to making hardware they hardly have money to make games for other platforms.Plus microsoft and sony has way to much money for sega to compete with.Hell it won't be long till nintendo becomes a software only company except for their gameboy for some reason they still sell
The Wii U didn't sell at all around 11 million total the XOne has done 22 million and PS4 40 million so that kind of tells you about the Wii U sales.I think Nintendo would be great as a 3rd party publisher have their games on mobile,tablets,PS4,and XOne plus they would still have their handheld
i was so obsessed with getting a dreamcast. and when i finally got it i treated it as if it was a god. looking back now at those days i disgust myself for doing that.
+Adam Johnson (RailRoad) And I hated that shit too. You'd be up here turning the volume all the way up just to hear them niggas talk and then a song would come on and shake yo whole fuckin house
+videogameguy101 u jus took me back. That shit was mad irritating especially during the 1st Spider-Man movie. I'd be like there's nobody around why the fuck are they whispering trying to sound all dramatic for.
As far as games in the US, SEGA released games over a span of 29 months with the last release of NHL 2K2 coming out in FEB of 2002. However games were still released from independent developers up until 2009 and recently as of 2010 a company in the US released another game called Fast Striker and followed in 2012 with the sequel Gun Lord....
The system was such a waste of money. When you look at the fact that a handful of games were also on the GameCube. I had Sonic Adventure 2, Billy Hatcher and Super Monkey Ball really showcases the fall of the Dremcast.
Billy hatcher and monkey ball weren't on dreamcast. Sega dropped out of the hardware business around 2001 and became third party game publisher. You don't know what you're talking about
TheSimsBrothers Not really dude... The Wii U is actually doing just as bad, if not worse than the Sega Dreamcast. The difference between the two is that Nintendo has the money to afford it. Sega ran out of money, so they had to discontinue the Dreamcast. Despite how bad the Wii U is doing, I actually personally think the Wii U is the best fucking console of this generation. Just bought Splatoon for it recently. ^^
*sigh* good old 90's too bad when the dreamcast came out my dad got an xbox while my uncle a huge sega fan got a dreamcast at the time....too bad my family could only afford one system when new systems came out..... :(
When sonic starts to think of sonic adventure and makes the music go insane and tails falls of what he was dancing on and some guy is like SONIC! (I forget the rest what he said) and sonic is like MY BAD!? This is why u never hire sonic as ur dj Lesson learnt never hire Dreamcast sonic as ur dj I would (who wouldn't)
+Stephen Sherburne I miss back in the day renting movies and N64 Games with my cousin from blockbuster. Now we got Netflix which I never use. Vhs were alright too.
Yup. I remember being in middle school as a little boy, so excited when i saw the football game. It was so smooth and 3d! I used ask my allowance savings on a pre order from GameSpot. Lol. But. . Sold it for a ps.since it was being scrapped . Sad but legendary.
The reason why Sega had to discontinue the Dreamcast and go 3d party was due to the fact that piracy was preventing them from profiting of the Software. Piracy was a huge issue on the DC and if you look at its sails, it did really well in its two years. It sold more then the xBox and GameCube in 2 years then both those consoles did. The issue again, was piracy. Game consoles are sold cheaper then they are to make, so the company makes all its money of the software. Sega couldn't due to how bad the piracy for the Dreamcast was and there was Virtually nothing they could do about it.
I remember this marketing affecting me at 10 years old. Dreamcast was something very mystical to me. I had an n64 at the time and probably figured it was blasphemy to ask for another console.

Yoo
Absolute madlad
No way the dude that makes videos about Russia is a Dreamcast fan 😮
This was like the most bad ass commercial I had ever seen for a video game console at the time. I still get goosebumps watching this today.

Happy Birthday Dreamcast. You will forever hold a special place. I decided today that on my birthday this year I’ll finally buy myself one. It’s the one console that I have loved and always wanted since I was a kid!
You know you're old when you can instantly recognize Gary Payton wearing a Seattle Sonics jersey
I like how they got his actual voice
Me: *Puts Dreamcast against my ear...*
Dreamcast: Its thinking
Me: "Oh shit!! There's a ghost in my Dreamcast! *Throws it out of the window*
and that's why dreamcast died they were all haunted
***** Heard of a joke?

Happy 15th USA Birthday (9/9/1999 - 2014) Sega Dreamcast, the dawn of the 128-bit era.
Happy 20th birthday today!
Happy 25th Anniversary Today
(9/9/99- 9/9/24)
If SEGA made better decisions, then they would basically be unstoppable. They had the balls that other competitors wish they had.
YUP... HAD WAS THE KEY WORD THERE!!!😅😅😅😥😥😥😰😰😰 AND I LOVE SEGA!!!
They had balls, but they also had a lot of stupidity, to be fair.
Coleman Straight Very true...
The Sega Saturn fucked them. Many 3rd party developers refused to make games for the Dreamcast because the Saturn was a huge flop. And the fact that the PS2 could play DVDs.

Happy 21st birthday Dreamcast 🥳.
21 years on the go and it's still thinking.
Agreed we in here happy bday dreamcast !!!
"Shut up, quadraped." XD Ahahahahahahahaha!!! That's too good.
technically, he's a biped but yeah still hilarious
lol at 0:12 you can notice she has playstation symbols on her hand
I think this commercial tells about the Playstation stealing Sega's ideas. but predicted the Dreamcast would be 10 times bigger than the Playstation, but

"Shut up, quadruped."
Way to put that two-tailed fox in his place!
You're laughing. Sonic jumps and dies and you're laughing.

+TETSUSakura91 There will be. The Dream is close to becoming a Reality!
It's thinking is such a strange slogan. But the logo is one of my all time favorites.
sounds like the whisper "playstation"
Happy 25th Anniversary
Sega Dreamcast 🌀🎮
1999-2024
🥳🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉
OMG. I remember when this commercial first aired. I lost my mind.
Sega. They need to come back.

I just noticed the metal band on the officers' arm in Commercial 1 are the buttons to a PlayStation controller.
me too
It's supposed to rival PS2.
I remember the Dreamcast as I used to play it when Jermaine's grandmother babysat me.
These commercials were created by PDI, best known for creating some of the DreamWorks animated films.
They're now DreamWorks Animation
20 years ago today, man time flys...
15 years today!
Make that 20!
Best console commercials ever!
wow these were some good comercials. its sad that SEGA stopped selling the Dreamcast. These commercials were impressive...
What a time it was as video games were really fun to play. I remember each Dreamcast commercial very well.
Video games are still fun to play nowadays, though. Its just that Microsoft and Sony don’t really add any creativity into their commercials like they’ve used to before.
I miss the dreamcast hours of playing sonic adventure, 101 dalmations, tomb raider, power stone ❤.
I remember when Jermaine had this console when his grandmother was my caregiver as my mom was at work! Also, I used play it and see him play it when kids' shows stopped airing after a certain time as some channels were scrambled. Happy 20th birthday Dreamcast 9.9.19
Such an underrated console
I wonder if Disney got inspiration for Wreck It Ralph from Dreamcast commercials?
Jungle Nerd didn’t wreck it ralfph came before these?
Konstantina Kalakou No!
Bish What yes it did, are you dumb?
Fuck no!!
First console I ever owned. This thing was awesome.
Already it's been 20 years. Happy birthday.

I saw it.
yup

Likely done on purpose considering alot of the marketing strategies SEGA was known for back in the day.
If this commercial were aired nowadays, SEGA would surely be sued by Sony
Davi -Kun nope.
There's No Console😌
On Earth🌍Dat Had A Line Up Of Solid Launch Titles Like Sega Did✊🏾

R.I.P Sonic
It's thinking...
“Infinity War is the biggest crossover ever.”
*_IMA STOP YOU RIGHT THERE_*
Poor Sonic (1:26)
2:36 RAYMAN!!!
The first commercial reminds me of the film "Romeo Must Die" with the late R&B Singer Aaliyah & Jet Li in a fighting scene.

The Dream Cast only worked for 1 calendar year. 😔
1:21 - "We got her!"
I have XBOX One, PS4 and Wii U, but nothing will ever top the Dreamcast
PS2 did
I love PS2 as well
chris zaucha cool
Franklin Clinton In my opinion, Dreamcast was better
for some reason in those years the marketing at Sega reminds me of the marketing at Apple
+Matt Makin Sega was a great company. Apple is a great company with quality products- it's just popular and hipsters hate that.
This was the same date of the mtv movie awards
That's MTV Video Music Awards- 1999
amazing memories.
I love how Sonic tails and eggman 3D render is from Sonic adventure
i was so obsessed with getting a dreamcast. and when i finally got it i treated it as if it was a god. looking back now at those days i disgust myself for doing that.
i still have mine in mint condition, was the best system i ever owned!
What's up with late 90s/early 2000's game commercials always ending with someone whispering? "It's thinking", " Gamecube".
Not complaining just wanting to know why.
Well back in the early 2000s super hero movies and the matrix had a dark whisper theme. And it got popular real fast and it spread
Yeah i know lol, playstation did it to. it was cheesy then and still is
+Adam Johnson (RailRoad) And I hated that shit too. You'd be up here turning the volume all the way up just to hear them niggas talk and then a song would come on and shake yo whole fuckin house

Gary Payton with a Sonics shirt. Get it?

The last comercials that's what i call a great uniting.
Rayman? ??
These commercials are part of the reason why the Dreamcast failed. They did little to promote the actual games that were available.
WiiU is not being advertised at all but it's still succesfull
TheSimsBrothers Not really dude... The Wii U is actually doing just as bad, if not worse than the Sega Dreamcast. The difference between the two is that Nintendo has the money to afford it. Sega ran out of money, so they had to discontinue the Dreamcast.
Despite how bad the Wii U is doing, I actually personally think the Wii U is the best fucking console of this generation. Just bought Splatoon for it recently. ^^
Lodmot at least Nintendo learned their lesson by making better advertisements for the Nintendo switch, which is currently doing good.
*sigh* good old 90's too bad when the dreamcast came out my dad got an xbox while my uncle a huge sega fan got a dreamcast at the time....too bad my family could only afford one system when new systems came out..... :(
2:38 rayman's face
I remember this dreamcast commercial at 2:00
I don't know whats the name of song but... if I know I will hit you up, and thanks for reply me.
I will man an I sub u can u sub me back???
thanks man.
Why was a Sony controller on her arm?
Because this burglar is from Sony :)
Shut up and enjoy the nostalgic commercials! D:
imagine if they made a commerical like this with modern day consoles
When sonic starts to think of sonic adventure and makes the music go insane and tails falls of what he was dancing on and some guy is like SONIC! (I forget the rest what he said) and sonic is like MY BAD!?
This is why u never hire sonic as ur dj
Lesson learnt never hire Dreamcast sonic as ur dj
I would (who wouldn't)
1:52 - we want a world without mistreatment of kitsunes
Smh those were the days!!
2:21 - "Man, stay off the lightspeed!"
Rayman in 2:37
Happy anniversary Dreamcast
the Dreamcast should have put a DVD player in it
and also digital download just like nintendo wii u eshop
+Ken Hill digital downloads were not around yet I don't think
+Stephen Sherburne neither were uhd, 4k, nor Blu-ray.
+Ken Hill just the DVD player and VHS
+Stephen Sherburne I miss back in the day renting movies and N64 Games with my cousin from blockbuster. Now we got Netflix which I never use. Vhs were alright too.
This marketing campaign is such an improvement over the Saturn. The only Dreamcast commercial I didn't really like was the SEGANet one.
4arms4life your profile pic XD XD I’m dying of laughter
Amazing the dreamcast was not big. Someone really fucked this launch.
cgminds M It actually broke the record for the most successful launch of all time (for it's time).
Yup. I remember being in middle school as a little boy, so excited when i saw the football game. It was so smooth and 3d! I used ask my allowance savings on a pre order from GameSpot. Lol. But. . Sold it for a ps.since it was being scrapped . Sad but legendary.
cgminds M It was doing really well sales wise. Sales were increasing steadily. But Sega went bankrupt. If only they could've held on : (
leftyfourguns yup, amazing how one console can doom a company. Saturn was the problem. Then dreamcast had no chance unless everyone bought it.
Sega couldn't due to how bad the piracy for the Dreamcast was and there was Virtually nothing they could do about it.
most badass console commercial ever created
I remember gamecube was a failure but it improved in sales.
It was such a big failure for Nintendo, that they decided not to directly compete with Playstation and Xbox anymore!
Well I guest the dreamcast was thinking about us buying the dreamcast while we was thinking about buying the Playsation 2.
TKA GameTown
-facepalm- -.-
I remember this marketing affecting me at 10 years old. Dreamcast was something very mystical to me. I had an n64 at the time and probably figured it was blasphemy to ask for another console.
