You're really validating my choice to hold out for the blue version instead of just getting the black one because it was cheaper. Can't wait for it to get here!
...And the stick out part kind of matches (and blends in a bit) with a pair of jeans. I'm still a bit sad I missed out on the earlier, cheerier version with the translucent perspex blade release nubs. 'More different'. I'm also loving my new V-Toku2 Endura 4, though -- my first Endura. Still super lightweight at 3.27 ounces carry weight (vs. the 2.89 ounces of my Manix 2 for its +0.44 inches extra blade length and even longer relative cutting edge). Both, nice stuff, though the blade finish is far superior on my BD1 Manix 2, irrespective of cladding aesthetics issues on the sprint run Endura.
I have that same model Sebenza =) The scary part is, I just recently starting USING it. It was made in 2008--I bought it used in 2011-2012 or so. And man, what an AWESOME knife. I always saw it as a piece of art--now, I'm addicted. It's my new home beater and it can freaking take it.
I'm a Manix and PM2 person. I love them both and have multiples of each. I like the light weight more it seems since I have 3 and only 1 G10 Manix. I agree with you about this knife 100%.
I have the translucent blue one. I love it in fact I love it enough I'm gonna get the black one too. I usually carry it and the chaparral light weight. It feels like I'm not carrying anything since they're both light weight. I also like how their blade shapes are similar
Manix 2 seems to take a back seat to the pm2 but 9 times out of 10 I reach for my s110v lw it's reliable holds an edge and ergonomics are great and perfect for around the house use
Seemingly unobtanium at a guilt free price on the secondary market if you're a user. Great if you snagged one ahead of the disappointed hopeful horde originally.
I just purchased my first manix on the secondary market. I got the lightweight s110v for a steel....(haha) Tracking says it's supposed to be here tomorrow! Let's see if it sends me down the manix wormhole like I think it will. And to be honest, the thing that's kept me from buying the manix was your recommendation on the civivi praxis about 6 months ago. Love that thing. Another reason for the s110v (besides the price I got it for) is that it's time to see if my sharpening "chops" are up to snuff. Thanks again!
This knife has been an itch since I first heard you praising it years ago. Whatever misgivings I've had have disappeared, and I finally ordered one. Thanks for all the inspiration, and I hope life is treating you well.
Thanks for taking time to answer. I'm retired and have arthritis in both hands so it gets a little painful but I've got many other knives to play with like my military since my hands are xxl thanks again Richard
Richard Jones I have several knives that I can easily use with gloves. I know they has nothing to do with arthritis, but I'm saying these are ALL VERY easy to open and close with very little effort because the lock requires simple push or push/pull motions. Try them out: Spyderco Smock (button lock) Hogue knives have bar locks or button locks CRKT Tighe Tac Two (button lock) Benchmade 940 (bar lock) The CRKT and Smock run on ball bearings, so they drop open and closed without any fine motor requirements. You could easily open/close them with mittins on (pain free I think for you). I can't think of the name, but Kizer makes a button lock on bearings knife and CRKT has a very large hard duty knife called the Siesmic and a slightly higher quality version on the Tac Two called the Rade.
Thanks Slicey for the "get the blue" message. I did, and love it. A couple things: 1. My blade is not centered, and nothing that I've tried can correct that. It's not far off, so I'll just be okay with it. 2. For actuating the bearing lock, there's a fair amount of force required to move the caged ball. I am GLAD to have the pocket clip to increase grip/leverage. Have you, or anyone else, tried actuating the lock with the clip off? Just curious. It almost seems essential to have the clip there. Overall though, I am also happy with my purchase. For reference, I also have the Manix 2 G-10 S30V, which is great but a bit heavy for me, and the back-lock version which is just a lovely chunk of a knife. Please keep the great videos coming!
The Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweight was the first higher quality/pricier knife I ever bought too. I got the translucent blue one though. Sadly I lost mine, but I have another one in S110V and a Knife Center exclusive in CTS XHP with brown FRN handles. Probably the best EDC knife ever. Perfect ergonomics, size and weight. Not the prettiest knife in the world, but it would be my pick if I could only have one folder.

Now that the new 'n' improved, nitrogen bearing BD1N blade steel is starting to work it's way into Spyderco's production chain, man, do I want to see an updated Manix 2 LW with that (pending?) upgrade! For my at least nominally "harder working" Manix 2 among my Spyderco LW collection, I really did not want any of the harder to repair 'premium' blade steels out there for the LW. No Cruware for a Manix 2, right? So, like yours here, my translucent blue LW is in BD1. If Spyderco changes out the standard blade steel to the new BD1N, I'd tentatively advise jumping on that. It could happen relatively quietly (BD1N is already appearing -- quietly, it seems -- on the Golden, CO built UKPK folder). This is a quite different steel, despite the similarity in name.
