@@DBT1007 You should increase the difficulty, it'll keep you on your toes and be more fun that way. Keeping your first alive with the higher difficulties is another story
I keep restarting colonies instead of finishing them. The late game gives me choice paralysis. This video gave me the motivation to stop abandoning my colonists :)
I've got 7 permadeath colony saves right now. Like, why? They get right to the point of crash and burn where I could either turn the tide or lose it all, and... nah, reroll.
Me too, but mostly because I'm bored by the endless slaughter. I dream someday there will be an overhaul centering around line-of-sight and NPC behaviour, allowing for more varied, subtle and lower scale threats, and providing a real use for domestic animals etc.
I love rimworld credit screens moreso than other games The fact that it shows who's escaped, who were left behind and who perished on the way makes you feel like you've gone through a long, arduous journey Man this game is awesome
Orange Stayed behind to keep the Colony afloat. that and someone left clog in one of the toilets and they left him behind so no one could find out who did it.
I love mountain-sided colonies with a narrow entrance like this. Easy to defend and you can expand inside the mountain when you need space and all the steel, components etc too. It's so satisfying to see your shaby, caveman colony turn into a modern kingdom and seeing your first colonist survive in the end is such a good feeling. There will never be a game better than this.
rimworld credits always brings a tear to my eye....it´s like a long journey with friends and you know when its over....you will never see them again but the memory remains....just like orange
When i see people colony like that i find them beautiful , mine always turn out in some sort of strange map filled with wooden house every where with stone wall separating them. No big underground base because its always giving me nightmare and hard time ( Bug , damned bug infestation ). Oh. And i build a Casino every time with black-jack and booze

The way that infestation hcance and their location is calculated is just too retarded and frustrating for me to put up with it. Also doesn't help that you have to use dev mode just to see your infestation risks... No, fuck that shit.
I played this game for 1 month right after finishing high school and looking for a job back in 2019. Haven´t played it since due to not having time, but the memories I have of it I hold them dearly almost as if they were something real and not a game. Beautiful gem.
Last time I've finished I had some mods that didn't work on latest versions, so no Royalty for me... My colony wasn't as big, but it had a bunch of energy weapon turrets, conventional turrets, high caliber guns... and a nuclear reactor. I was finishing the game by building my own ship, and during reactor startup I had so many raids... I needed my reactor on full power almost all the time, and when colonists got out, the power was still set to a 100%... I decided to keep watching at base, at how it deteriorates and brokes down... One of the raids damaged the coolant system of the reactor, and thus provoked a RimWorld Chernobyl xD
haha i can just imagine it: some stupid tribal beating up the "evil machines" (cooling system) when suddenly they hear sirens and waring messages in languages they cant understand and then boom chernobyl.
@@froschreiniger2639 The funniest thing was that Rimworld sometimes is a bit stupid - I had a HUGE frontline of an open space, well covered with turrets, and since I had Combat Extended, usually one minigun was enough to suppress most of the raid (suppressed enemies just lay down and don't do anything - easy target for any explosions, like a grenade launcher or 90mm flak cannon). Front attacks were a problem with Centipedes or massive attacks involving shields.... Thankfully I had some EMP weapons for that case. The funny and stupid thing is related to sappers - they could go sap literally any wall, I had some walls that were not as thick, had no defences, and were leading to farmlands or living quarters. Somewhat in between those sappers tried to get in CONSTANTLY, if it was a sapper raid, then I had to quickly plant some mines in that place and get some suppressive fire in here. All this could go really wrong really fast if Rimworld AI was a bit smarter, because cooling was using water, and walls there were 1 block thin, and it had one wooden door all 17 years I spent there xD One raid there could go very wrong. And the cooling got damaged because one of raids was in drop pods, and they landed near cooling which was full of mines. Resulting fire destroyed about half of cooling, and remaining half wasn't enough for the reactor. Sadly, that explosion didn't kill anyone instantly, that would be pretty cool

Early game use 1 block wide corridors to fight and have animals ready. Putting animals in the front makes them really easy. Lategame use 3 block wide corridors with three melee guys and just maw them down. I usually don't need burn rooms. Make sure that they can only come from one side.
@@jamhax I saw someone demonstrate how to set up an infestation defense, he had the 3 wide melee line with a 3x3 group of 9 with ranged weapons like SMGs or Auto Shotguns (1-2 frags seem to help too by stunning the bugs). Any deeper and the rear line might hit the front line.
Yes you can keep playing after the credits. You can also just send one guy in the rocket and keep playing the base or whatever. You could also do a playthorugh where you do all 4 endings.

Game becomes either too easy or impossible when you build mountain bases. Depends on if you turned off infestations or not. If they're on, mountain bases become impossible to sustain. If they're off, mountain bases become overpowered and you really don't have any serious threats.

I like your colony ! And I am pissed at the same time, cuz i play this beautiful game for a long time and i always choose to start with one colonist ( permament nuclear winter and toxic fallout, extreme low world pop. and temp. ) . I always survive for like 2-3 years before deleting and starting new game. Every person that i ecounter are around 70 y old with dementia or uncapable of almost everything, so they end up as tasty meal (yum !). So i am not capable of developing my colony in any way, only wegetating in my claustrofobic little bunker. Idk if i am just unlucky or the game hate me, but i play on randy random and i almost never ecounter ANY events ( almost no traders or raiders ) I am not motivated to play anymore...
Genuinely despise insect raids like I want to enjoy a siege that ends with house to house fighting and holding ti the last man with close quarters combat in the stronghold and not ha ha insect destroy 90% of expensive objects and insta kills colonists since you can properly equip them with flak Armour

How do you get so many pawns? I usually end the game with maximum 8 (even of I start with 3 and no one dies)
I like to play with 24 to 30 colonists. I use psychic shock lances to get the best raiders.

Yeah capturing raiders or buying from the slaver traders are the best way to get more.

Ingame counter says 2days, 14 hours but that does not exclude pauses. So in playtime I'd guess between 30 and 40 hours.

Yeah Auto Shotguns are really good against infestations. Psycasts like Vertigo and Berser Pulse are insane too if you cramp them into a 3x3 corridor.

Trait Rarity Colors is really good for that. It can show traits above the pawns heads and shows them in different colors.

You have to toggle the display in the bottom right of your screen, where you toggle roofs etc.

I have played thousands of hours of rimworld and done ALL sorts of things but not ONCE have I EVER put carpet in my colonies bedrooms.

I think theres a mod to disable insectoid raids, if you dont like it why not remove it? Theres no wrong way to play a singleplayer game
