I get your point, but in this case, what they need is a shorter clasp along with the shorter bracelet. There is otherwise enough articulation in the bracelet, but with the current clasp, it sits funny on smaller wrists.

Of course the price increase is not justified. It's just Omega being Omega. It'll still sell a ton at the price point they've set. In reality, this new version of the Seamaster is much cheaper to make than the standard version. The bracelet is 10x cheaper, no complicated clasp, no integrated endlines, no variation in finishing/brushed vs polished. Then aluminum bezel and dial vs ceramic and no date.... and then just monochrome colors, no red print or red tip second hand making it all even cheaper.
You're forgetting that the new one has a domed sapphire crystal, which is an upgrade over the flat one found in the standard version. Whether or not that warrants the price increase is up for debate though!

I have the NTTD and the 60th, and the mesh bracelet looks awesome and fits very comfortably, I’ve not knocked it on anything at all. I think most of the small minority who don’t like the band haven’t been able to wear one yet.

For me the absence of a date window is actually a feature, not something missing. never liked how Omega integrated it - and I couldn't care less about it in a diver.

The black no-date model will be flying off the shelves. My AD already has 18 orders and only 7 of them allocated for the next 6 months. I am one of them :(. It's mental... The silver Ti bezel model will be an acquired taste, don't believe many will stretch towards it, sadly. Omega just went a little too far with its silvery monochorme design and Rolex Yachmaster-like bezel.
I like the black one. Personally I hate red second hand and Seamster text. That's why I took green one. I would keep the shiny bezel instead of this aluminum
These watches are transitional models for the end of the current SMP300s life cycle. They have nothing to do with the next gen SMP300. Omega needed a way to bridge the generations from current to next gen. When an SMP300 reaches year 5 or 6 of it's lifecycle sales drop off because people who are considering one are playing it cautious and waiting to see the new model before they commit. These watches are made completely from Omega's existing parts bin. The wave dial on the black model is the original 90s Brosnan generation 1 wave dial. It is the same dial on the Bond 60th but in matte black instead of blue. To be honest I am surprised a watch youtuber didn't know this already. The steel on steel version uses the exact same bezel as the Nekton SMP300 and the brushed steel dial looks to be using old recently deleted Railmaster dial blanks. Many are complaining about the case size and the bracelets. Omega is not about to debut the next generation tapered bracelet on a transitional model made from stock parts. They needed to supply a bracelet that was not the current model SMP bracelet and this is why the mesh and the rubber are the two current options. All the new stuff will debut with the release of the next gen SMP300 which will be around another year of waiting. People are complaining about the mesh bracelet being uncomfortable. If this is the case the problem a you problem and not an Omega problem. The mesh bracelet comes in three lengths; S for wrists below 6.5', M the default that you will get if you don't ask otherwise and L which is for wrists 7.5" and over. When you order the correct bracelet there is no hang over from the clasp that rubs uncomfortably. If it's uncomfortable it's because you have ordered the wrong bracelet with your purchase. I have the L version and it comforms to the curve of my wrist beautifully on my 8' wrist. People really need to stop bandwagoning hate on this release, or at least read the Omega website to find out why they used an aluminium bezel insert, gen 1 wave dial and the mesh. It's all there explained in detail. Understanding of what these watches are, and importantly, are not is paramount in one's understanding of what this release is intended to achieve.
Everyone is making such of a fuss over this release. Very underwhelming for me. Looks pretty much the same as the prior. The SMP is stuck in the late 90's/early 2000's and is in desperate need for a revamp.
Seems like most watch brands are digging into the archives and reissuing instead of coming up with new ideas. Must be easy being a watch designer these days 😆

Yeah, this confused me too. Ceramic is more expensive than aluminium and the 8806 is less complex than the 8800. Also, the Milanese bracelet is cheaper to manufacture than the regular Seamaster bracelet. The new one should be $1000 less on manufacturing costs in the real world.
The question is why made Omega this terrible bracelet again. The have to read so many negative reviews about this bracelet. What is wrong with a slim tapered modified original seamaster bracelet?

Get rid of display caseback and shave off some thickness, 55 hr PR for high tech co-axial is embarrassing, still can’t make a decent bracelet. I’d buy on rubber if was thinner and cheaper than regular model with more! Giving less charging more is shady

Probably the worst looking diver watch ever, those Shrek ears looks terrible while that bezel has no function what so ever,skeleton hands looks bland while every braclet on seamster looks like it came from Ali express, no taper and no style at all for 6k watch
This model is an objective downgrade in materials from the standard 300M and its priced at $600 more, which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Omega really has turned into a BS brand.

The ceramic gets old after a while. I had it and after the honey moon period it’s just meh. I think the aluminum is the way to go.
The classic design is timeless, but the new model also has its own charm.

Bracelet looks cheap.
It is not too bad. But I think overall, omega bracelets (except the speedmaster) could be improved
Probably the worst looking diver watch ever, those Shrek ears looks terrible while that bezel has no function what so ever,skeleton hands looks bland while every braclet on seamster looks like it came from Ali express, no taper and no style at all for 6k watch
No tapered bracelet is a huge sin from omega
for me one of the ugliest watches out there.

This model is an objective downgrade in materials from the standard 300M and its priced at $600 more, which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Omega really has turned into a BS brand.
really the only material change is an aluminum bezel. So Rolex was a BS brand for 50+ years? and they offer both.
