The most amazing thing about this show is that I saw it two years ago... and I just can´t let it go... it grows inside you and stays there forever... Damn...
I was the girl who won the Jayne hat, and just, this panel was one of the best moments of my life. Like- before even that happened, just being in that room with everyone who Understood- the cast and crew and all of us browncoats- was just. Magical. Within 10 minutes EVERYONE was crying. This show has changed us all, and just. Okay I'll shut up before I start crying again.
Nathan looks so gosh darn happy to be there, it's a joy to see somebody act as humble and appreciative of their situation a whole ten years on. He and Joss were (are) a match made in heaven.
You can easily see that Nathan gets really emotional at times. It's quite heart warming. This was he's first big show so I can imagine how he must feel seeing the fans there.
Firefly was the one show I knew my Dad would have absolutely loved, but didn’t get a chance to show him before he passed. There better be Firefly in heaven
You can cancel a series all you want, this shows you how important this show is in people's lives. I need more of this, it's never too late. Actually after all these years, this would be a perfect time to resurrect Firefly. It has so much potential, the fans and cast prove it.
+Lori Burnip this is my exact response to why this Pot of gold was cancelled in the 2000s all my parents watched was that "reality" BS people were too dumb to appreciate a real TV show. Oh I'm also getting over the flu and missed a few days of work binge watched the show and movie that's why I'm here
+insanemadcat9 The episodes were originally aired in the wrong order - it also aired at a pretty bad time. Basically, it didn't really become a hit until after cancellation. What I don't understand is why they didn't resume the show rather than just making a movie - 2005 wasn't too far behind to just continue the show with season 2, which seems a bit far fetched right now.
I can't remember her name but she is or was an executive at Universal and a fan of Firefly. She called up Whedon asking him if he'd like to work together on a Firefly movie project. Fox had nothing to do with the film production and didn't care to resume the show after it's initial cancellation. Also, the reason it's called Serenity, is because Fox owns the rights to the name Firefly.
Correction: I was in this room in the 9th goddamn row. Slept on the sidewalk all night with my amazing girlfriend Diana. Joss walked thru the lines at 2AM, coming back from a party. He was mobbed, of course. I told him he was the safest man in San Diego. :)
I started and finished watching Firefly this week. I feel a giant hole in my chest. So cruel to be stopped. I knew the show had only 1 season, but I hoped for some little wave of goodbye, a reverance, a wave that leave some sense of ending of the story. But it didnt happen
If Fox aired Serenity Parts 1 & 2 instead of Train Job for the debut, its could've been as big, if not bigger, than Star Trek. Brilliantly written and directed with the perfect cast. Such a shame! I'm still obsessed after 18 years. I'll be in my bunk!
What a perfect blend, a cast of misfits held together by Fillion's easy charisma and loyalty. Crazy good scripts. At least we got Serenity out of it. Wasnt close to enough, but what an epic movie. Hard to believe no one picked it up for more seasons, but we can get bombarded with mindless, lowest common denominator garbage.
Every time they call out an actor/actress, I think, "they made that show" but then, all of them did. They worked so well together and brought these characters to life we love so much.
In just the past few days I watched Firefly for the first time and I've got to say, I now understand what everyone has been saying. It's a fantastic show with compelling characters you can't help but love, and in just the 14 episodes you see them grow. This show has such a great story to it and a great setting. It's a shame that it won't be revisited.
There's nothing more gratifying as a fan than to see these guys crying. I am so proud to be part of a fandom in which the cast and crew are just as heavily invested emotionally as their fans.
It's so surreal to watch these panelists crying, almost as if the show was a loved one that died. You can tell how much heart they put into it from the beginning. Thanks Joss, all actors, writers, and crew, for the most amazing piece of storytelling ever made.
I love the fact that Wash' most famous line - and one of the lines most connected to the show altogether - is a line that comes out of nowhere and the first time he says it everyone literally just goes 'what?' *flies plane epicly* "I'm a leaf on the wind!" Fan: "He's a what?" *dies*.
I think Joss knew what may be coming in the future, so he tried really hard to endear himself to this cast and crew. It worked. They never have anything bad to say about him.
I've never saw a reception like this in Oscar, Grammy or such. Every year or two I run through the season again, only to get sad again. Damn market, not ready yet for awesome productions like this...
Best TV show of all time. Hearing all the applause, it's hard to believe that while the series was still running, no one had ever heard of Firefly. I watched it from the beginning, and I was frustrated by its lack of following. When the DVD set finally came out, I loaned it to dozens of people, and every one of them became just as addicted as I am. Thank you to everyone else who did the same :)
when i was younger and even today to an extent i have battled with depression and although this world is fake world i found that when i was at a bad point watching firefly or serenity would truly help me escape and for those few hours and a short time after when i was just thinking about the show i would forget and i would feel happy.
I have never seen in any other movie or show a better cast. Every single person played their role perfectly, embodied the character, and made me fall in love.
There is a very special part of hell reserved for those special fox executives who think they know better by canceling an awesome show..........and for people who talk in the theatre.
To reiterate that one fan comment, only slightly changed, Joss Whedon's work not only saved my life, it saved my soul. I am utterly proud of him for all he's achieved, to see him get the recognition he deserves makes me cry with happiness. I love him for his beautiful mind and his generousity, humility and humour. He's my inspiration and my hero.
It's so strange and lovely that a show that I watched less than a year ago has come to be so spectacular and special and so downright emotional to me. The greatest television tragedy ever is that Firefly had to get canceled. Sometimes, I regret that I didn't get to see it sooner. But I think it came at the right time, though... I kind of feel like watching at any other time in my life just wouldn't have been the same. (Also, I was about five years old when the show aired, so... :P)
I cried when Nathan cried. I've only even known about this show for about a year now and yet it touched me. I watched a lot of movies in high school but didn't really watch much tv. College (and Netflix) changed that. This show means the world to me.
I realy do hope some other company brings this show back and does well with it. I remember after watching the one season on netflix looking online to see where the second was?! I was heartbroken to find out it didn't exist... : (
Thank you for having this video up, I just re-watched the show again.. I got emotional in the last 20 minutes of this, you can really see how much they loved this series. Would've been great to see how the Blue Sun conspiracy went, I'll definitely have to check out the comic series.
Every time i remember that this was cancelled after one season i squeeze my eyes really tight and do this weird jaw thing until my face goes ridicously red
...remember (?) William Shatner saying to his fans (at a comic-con): "Get a Life!" ...he has a point, but that is still sooooo rude!!! ...not unlike Nathan...
wow, i wish i could have been there. Firefly was such a great show. I am actually gonna re-watch it and serenity now. I actually had tears in my eye at the end of this. Very few shows have this kind of emotional impact this me, but those that do stand above all others. When a show has a strong emotional impact on you that is a trademark of a masterpiece. This show will be missed. LONG LIVE FIREFLY, AND LONG LIVE HER CREW!
So much love!, its amazing. I loved this panel. I just finished watching Firefly and i loved it and im so sad it got taken off the air. Its an amazing show with great actors and human beings.
@@derekfaw7511 My best guess is that he's talking about Fredric Lehne, who played Rance Burgess in Heart of Gold. He has that reputation and is generally an ass.
I got in line for this panel at midnight and was able to meet both Adam Baldwin and Joss Whedon. I have been to many many fandom related things in my life and nothing have ever compared to the love and excitement and SCREAMING that filled Ballroom 20 that afternoon.
Anyone know the "visiting actor" that Joss spoke of that was disrespectful to one of the ladies on the show? Thought someone mentioned the name before, but I can't be sure...
Everytime I watch this, it makes me smile and cry at the same time. Thanx so much for uploading this. I love the Browncoats, what a beautiful stubburn bunch of folk !
Browncoats forever!
We're still flying.
Placebo_Jones That hits me where I fucking live.
I’ll never not love this show and it’s fan base.
Placebo_Jones WOOOOOOOOO. HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! I couldn’t agree more with you my friend!!! Fellow-Brown-Coater!!!!!!!!
I love Nathan's introduction, "Captain Tight Pants or sometimes No Pants, Nathan Fillion!" Brilliant!
The most amazing thing about this show is that I saw it two years ago... and I just can´t let it go... it grows inside you and stays there forever... Damn...
@@danieladler3210 Unfortunately... Yes...
"All we can do is hate Fox for the rest of our lives."
didnt need them to cancel firefly for that to happen
I only discovered Firefly one month ago... I binge watched the whole series and now love it!
Me too! I started watching about a week and a half ago and I'm so sad that there isn't more! I fell in love with it and all the wonderful characters!
Oh welp I just realized your comment is a year old loool

"We're still flying" "that's not much" "it's enough"
Nathan Fillion with tears in his eyes.....how beautiful that it meant so much.
Nathan looks so gosh darn happy to be there, it's a joy to see somebody act as humble and appreciative of their situation a whole ten years on. He and Joss were (are) a match made in heaven.

I'm sure there is!
In Heaven, not only do we get the actual show, we also get the 25+ years the show could have been on-air.
The last question where Joss is just speechless and fighting back tears, I couldn't stop crying.
Firefly will forever be the best show ever made

Too bad captain reynolds put on a bit of weight and wouldn't do as much fighting so much as sitting :(
Just finished binge watching Firefly and Serenity together. Phenomenal show. How the fuck was it cancelled
+insanemadcat9 Moronic studio executives!! Idiots who think reality bullcrap is better than this. They will burn in the "special hell"

It’s so impressive how a cancelled show with exactly one season and a movie can affect so many people so strongly
It wasn't even a full season. It got canceled early.
What a perfect blend, a cast of misfits held together by Fillion's easy charisma and loyalty. Crazy good scripts. At least we got Serenity out of it. Wasnt close to enough, but what an epic movie. IN JOSS WE TRUST
There's nothing more gratifying as a fan than to see these guys crying. I am so proud to be part of a fandom in which the cast and crew are just as heavily invested emotionally as their fans.
Ten years and a serie with just one season and it can still make the creatures, actors and fans cry. That's how you make a show!!
I love Alan's reaction when Joss said he wouldn't have killed anybody
My wife and I BINGED-WATCHED our beloved show yesterday!!!!! Lord knows how many times we have and we always notice something we didn’t see before!!
"I think you have a fever." :And the only cure is more Firefly." This is one of the many great reasons this cast is the best for any show ever made.

Seriously, mad props for the guy who stood a whole hour with his camera up recording this for the people who couldn't make comicon!
Thanks!
I'd like to thank N'Flix for having Buffy, Angel, and Firefly available for us.
And Dollhouse!
Plus Avengers I believe
whhhaaaattt?!?!? not for me!!
True
Since they had nothing to do with the production but sucked you in like leeches? LOL. How pathetic you are.
The applause at the end, that sums up the love for firefly
I'm totally in love with Joss Whedons brain!
The cast and crew obviously still believe in the show from the amount of tears shed during this. Bring back firefly plz!!!

What was the clip?!
Absolutely awesome!!! I still can't believe the guys in the suits were stupid enough to cancel it.
really the only show that I really LOVE
