  • The Fitbit Charge 6 genuinely surprised me. Sure, it's "just" a Fitbit fitness tracker -- but it's one that could entirely replace your smartwatch at a fraction of the cost.

Great review - thanks. My Charge 4 has just ceased to be, but I really loved wearing that, so given your review, will go for the Charge 6 as the replacement. One issue I had with the Charge 4, is that you had to manually stop an exercise on the tracker when you were finished, or it would just keep assuming you were still exercising. Too often I forgot until hours later, and it would then give unusable data. I hope that issue has been resolved on the new device.

👍🏾 I'm glad you mentioned the "get up and move" feature. I just turned it on. It really is a good idea 💡🙏🏾

Have had the Charge 6 for a while and am a fan! GPS and other features perform superbly, and I particularly like that when I begin to jog or bicycle, I can tap the face for any display I want (i go with distance) and it's large, bright, and easy to read at just a glance and the app on my Galaxy phone and PC are excellent as well Sometimes the GPS is a bit slow to connect, but fine -accurate GPS on a watch? Fantastic!

I'm really curious about the pay feature. Do you need to have your phone with you in order to use it? And, can you just tap and pay, or do you need to put in a pin every time? Thank you so much!

You don’t! Once you activate your card with google pay, it is right on your watch and can be used without the phone nearby, because of the NFC in the tracker. You do have to enter a pin in every time though but it’s like that with EVERY watch that has any sort of payment system, for security purposes

Other reviewers have indicated that its GPS tracking is relatively poor, due to the way the aerial is constrained by the tightness of the fit to the wrist. Can you please comment on this aspect?

It's... OK. I wouldn't call it bad, but it is a little slow to get that first GPS lock.

Which smart watch is best for under $100? As this Fitbit is $99 at the moment

I'm going to guess that's US pricing (bearing in mind I'm based in Australia, so my prices are in AUD) -- and at that price (US or AUD) I'd run towards picking this up!

$100 on Amazon rn. But the reviews seem terrible. The only thing holding me back from getting it. Seems like it's breaking or just stops working.... 🤔 Lmk if you grab it!

Fitbit is fine, but not durable... it lasts for a year max if you're lucky... the battery dies and it becomes useless
