On those convex areas if u snip the whole curve and apply glue to each snip there will be a flatter mire even finish.I’m a sewer and necklines and armhole are done like that.

Is there a specific wool you put on the back of the piece? Is it the same kind of wool you hooked with?
Sorry for the delayed reply! Yes, the back is just regular hooking weight wool.
