I am amazed at people under valuing Klay Thompson. The Golden State Warriors are never getting Klay Thompson back. Name the last time a Golden Goose young or old hit the trade block? You know who's names Klay Thompson is about to be associated with after the trade? Tom Brady, Patton Manning, John Elway. What happened to those players when they were traded for being washed up?
This roster is so flawed. I love what they have done for the Bay Area. But-Looney is over the hill, Gary is never completely healthy, Wiggins is an albatross contract if he plays like last year, Klay is great but declining, and they’re still undersized, slow and not competitive. Whatever happens-we’ve been blessed-but it’s time for change
Well, there is a ray of hope in that GSW had the sixth-best record in the entire NBA in the last 41 regular season games. So idk if it’s all doom and gloom. I actually rewatched the SAC play-in yesterday just to analyze Klay a little bit. The team isn’t all that bad. They played well and the worst players were actually Steph (7 tov), Klay and Dray lol. But the main thing is, idk of a single NBA GM that runs that roster back, so we’ll see.

Part of my response is just to be thankful for what we have had compared to the Cohan and much of the Mueli andFitzgerald/Finane years. This is a success rate that has been fantastic compared to all other teams, besides the Lakers and the the Celtics. But going forward-It’s gonna take some real wisdom, some patience with the youngsters, and financially somebody’s gonna have to get paid a little less and be OK with it or they go elsewhere to clear space. Steve Kerr is not necessarily a coach that is about developing young players; Looney is the only drafted player that turned into a valuable member of a championship team. Poole was too-but he’s not here anymore. The league is a lot younger, faster, taller and can shoot the 3 better than many on the Warriors. If they could get a center who can shoot the three like Al Horford, Naz Reed-that would certainly changed things a little bit in the positive direction
I wouldn’t agree with not competitive but they do need upgrades. But nobody expected them to elite forever , right? There’s always a transition period after a dynasty. I don’t understand the impatience . We were never going to have a star studded team for 12 years straight. The only way would’ve been if Steph took a big pay cut , but it’s too late for that now
I don't see Orlando offering Klay 30 million a year and I don't see them offering him a long term deal. Their 2 young players are going to be up for extension in the next 2 years. To be honest I never bought those Orlando reports during the season.
Yeah the long-term deal, nobody thinks ORL will offer more than 2 years. I mean, how could anybody. Klay is gonna turn 35 next season. The per-year number is the one where only Bobby Marks and I think ORL will offer $30M+. But we’ll see.
He lost me when he suggested Payton opt out of the 9M on the last year of his contract for 3M for 3 years. Why would any person assume he might restructure for that? This might be the highest year of pay he’ll ever get. Even if he’s healthy this year, he might be on a league minimum next year. This feels like spreadsheet fantasies.
