this is Japanese. it's easy to tell the difference. Chinese is slurred and connected while Japanese is broken up. And to not get Korean and Japanese confused, Koreans have a smaller alphabet than the Japanese and the language is easier. it's hard to tell Korean and Japanese but between Japanese and chinese, it's easier to tell by hearing than reading since both written languages are similar.
