I have a tattoo of the album cover on my leg, it's definitely my favorite. Smile is one of my absolute favorites. Him playing that in its entirety made Live in Gdansk one of my favorite live albums as well.
Many years have passed, but Gilmour and the spirit of the Floyds are still alive! There are no creative friends on earth anymore, but there is still wind in the sails! Good luck to David Gilmour and long life and good health!
This album is on par with the best of the Pink Floyd albums. Deeply inspirational and most enjoyable. This is David at his best and not forgetting that he’s been of the world’s greatest guitarists and a fantastic role model for many of us. Thanks also for the insight into its production as well as for a very well made presentation.

I was just a teen when this album came out. I already was a Floyd head for some years. I loved this album at first listen. I remember how years later, probably in 2012, i was at a studio, and they had new monitors in, and asked me to put a Nice sounding track trough those speakers. So i went with "On a island". The guys were blown away by it. What i was blown away by, was that they Didnt knew about this album. My favourite Gilmour solo album. Just classe all around. I still jam to "the blue" now and then.
Few months ago I get a new vinyl player - Japanese Sony from that old days, I tune it, and sure I start listen to my vinyl collection. Everything has sound amazing till the moment I put on later Gilmour. And everything sounded really weak compare to this sound. God, incredibly good recorded albums - this one and Rattle that lock
Other than Dark Side of the Moon, Meddle is my favorite Floyd album. Likely because I was a teen age at the time and I saw them on stage when it came out. Those were great times for music.
This album has helped me in difficult times. Now Im having one of those periods, so I take this as a sign to listen this masterpiece again. Thank you forever D.G!

Hard to come by. I have a copy which I don't think I've played.... or possibly once as I had the five disc cd edition which I've since sold and ended up with the 4 disc edition instead! I'm sure it'll be re issued one day. On an Island is a great listen. A lazy Sunday morning type of record!

I saw this tour in 2006 at Rosemont just outside of Chicago. What a great night! Little did we know that this would be the last time we'd see Rick Wright. Cherish every moment!
Seen this before some years ago... and it gave me a nice insight of pop stars being just ordinairy people as any one of us, having their normal every day human issues and humanity thingies... Just a good chap David is. A normal family man as any one of us....
Nah. He definitely is a family man. I am sure he has his issues. But let's not kid ourselves. He's not "ordinary people as any one of us". When you have that much money, there is nothing ordinary about you, and you're not like everyone else. And I assure you: he is a stranger to most of our problems. He doesn't have to worry about a job. He doesn't have to worry about food. Doesn't have to worry about the massive hike in energy prices. I am sure he can still afford to fill the tank on his car just fine. He's not worried about freezing this winter. It's not a bad thing, though. He's earnt that money by being one of the best guitar players on the planet. He's made all of our lives better. I believe he fully deserves his wealth, not least of all because he has donated quite a substantial portion of it to charity. As far as rich people go, he actually deserves it.

Why is it I don't hear much talk about the solo on The Blue? I think it is one of the best I've ever heard. It's amazing the way it moves from highs to lows. Just amazing. And this man, his voice is the same as it was when he was young.

This album is, I think, better than Rattle That Lock. It's warmer, jazzier. Feels like sitting next to a warm fire. A great achievement, for sure.

David truly created a wall of sound. On a high-end, vintage stereo, it sounds amazing.
Its better than RTL imo as well, however it still has some gems too, mostly the instrumentals. The man is a genius with melody.
