Thanks so much for taking the time to put a review together guys! Great to hear you're happy with the blade and it's given you confidence in us as a team :) Some notes: - The coloured parts in the engraving are brass that's been hammered in. - You pronounced tin chirra perfectly :) How'd you pronounce Kailash? Well that was just Perfectoin ;) - We definitely hear you on the satin finish being a bit rougher than what's seen on a lot other swords and knives. Historically khukuris are either polished, for presentation or status blades or left rough for working blades. We've introduced a level below that called Raw which has the forge scale and a more rough and ready aesthetic. As a result we've been trying to push the finish of the unpolished, satin version a bit higher to fit a bit more in line with western tastes and offer better differentiation between options, but tradition is a stubborn thing in Nepal. Early next year I'll be able to head over and we can work on getting our satin finish a bit more sumptuous while keeping it practical and understated. - Glad to hear you're happy with the performance grind! It really does make a big difference in the kind of cutting you're doing. It also makes a significant difference in light brushwork and machete type tasks- a bit more snippy. Don't be afraid to get stuck into wood with it though- all of our grinds are capable of serious chopping into soft or hardwood, the beefier grinds just add insurance for nails, overswings into rocks or general mischief. - I'm sorry to inform you but that's just a regular dap, not a salyani one. I checked the original order to see if the team had made the wrong sheath for you but it's all good there. You wouldn't be the first person to put a khukuri tip through their sheath and you certainly won't be the last- count your lucky stars you made it out of there still being able to count to ten! Once again thanks for the great review and best of luck growing your channel. You guys have a great relaxed and natural banter going on that helps set you apart from the pack. You've earned a subscriber :) Take care, Andrew and the team at Kailash
Seriously appreciate all the views and kind words. We definitely feel like we're getting better with every video. Glad you're enjoying the videos, more coming soon!
The sheath is NOT hardened leather. It is two wood panels held together with wrapped tightened leather. They are very nice but need to be used with caution for the reason you mentioned...cutting through the edges. I love this maker thought. Kailash blades is an EXCELLENT maker with good steel and heat treat. I have purchased 4 of them...all excellent.
The details the prissy guy disliked are the marks of a hand made item. Completely hand made. These are absolutely beautiful and completely functional edged weapons that are entirely hand made.
Prissy guy here, thank you that legitimately made me laugh 😂. And I agree it is an absolutely beautiful weapon. I know the rougher finish is due to it being hand made. My preference leans towards the machined perfection look of say Albion. But that's not everyone's taste I know. Jon very much loves the hand made look. All that said I think this is a fantastic Kukri and I love it. Thanks for the view and comment!
@@UnsheathedSwordReviews I couldn't help but notice the Scottish Lowlander on the wall. I have had one for many years, through many moves, have you considered doing a video on it?
We are definitely going to do a review on the Lowlander eventually. I want to get it professionally sharpened before we do. That way we can see what it's really capable of.
My first one I got from ghurkas in afganistan. I left it in Oregon when I retired in the Philippines so I ordered the same one I left behind.....so am replacing it with the BSI
Be careful when you go to the Kailash site. You might see a model you like and then start hitting the options, like a 24" bade, and you could easily double or almost triple the knife cost. Just a heads up.
Superb! Full Tang Like the WWII Mk.3's and Chirra for strength!!! Someone knew what they were doing... No $56 Tax tho' was it hidden in the shipping or cost or has EGKH been pulling one over on us?
I don't know anything about the price structure and taxation. But I can tell you that this is one of the best feeling one handed sharp things I've ever handled.
It's the same size as the smaller one but more lively in the hand. The short Kopis has a thicker spine and no distal taper. So it's more of a chopper. The larger Kopis is a totally different animal. That definitely feels more like a short sword and one that can deliver powerful cuts.
Seems like this brand only capitalized on the media aspect. Has better social media than any other kukri house. And it seems like they send their knives to people, which other brands that are notable don’t. So I’ve avoided this brand due to them just seeming like they want to get their name out to compete. Went with a proven company.
I have to respectfully disagree here. Having had the good fortune to handle and use one of their Kukri, I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks for watching!

@@UnsheathedSwordReviews welcome. Just stumbled upon your channel in my feed, hence the barrage of comments. Lol. Glad I did. Good stuff.

The khukuri is the only knife that I consider the equal of a good hatchet or tomahawk.
Agreed.
They are exceptionally utilitarian.
Thanks for watching.

Golock would also do nicely.
excellent piece guys, love my Kukri pieces, very unique and cool pieces to own...great review boys
If you put a gun to my head and made me pick my favorite knife style, it would probably be a seax.
Kukri being a strong second though.
They make good blades, part of that is due to quenching in oil,;
They really do, I couldn't be happier with it. I definitely want to check out more of their products.
Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video! I,m thinking about ordering One 👍🗡
Thanks for watching! It's a fun piece that is definitely worth owning

Could you review on 30 inch khukuri
the man shirt on the right haha
it will make a good symbol of status and taste as well.
Certainly!
Thanks for watching.
Subscribing!
Thank you sir!
how does it compare to the 2 kopis swords in the background?
It's the same size as the smaller one but more lively in the hand. The short Kopis has a thicker spine and no distal taper. So it's more of a chopper. The larger Kopis is a totally different animal. That definitely feels more like a short sword and one that can deliver powerful cuts.
Which grind did you guys get for this khukuri?
The performance edge, the finest one they offer.
And it is SHARP.
Thanks for watching!
@@UnsheathedSwordReviews awesome thank you I made an order and I end up with heavy duty grind i regret it now lol.
What is the knife / sword on the top right black handle with the recurve blade?
That's the Devil's Edge Greek Kopis

@@UnsheathedSwordReviews thanks I really like that design.
For sure! It's well built and a great bang for the buck sword. I highly recommend it, we're gonna do a review on it eventually.
