- Welcome Home (Sanitarium) by Metallica of Master of Puppets
Lyrics:
Welcome to where time stands still
No one leaves and no one will
Moon is full, never seems to change
Just labeled mentally deranged
Dream the same thing every night
I see our freedom in my sight
No locked doors, no windows barred
No things to make my brain seem scarred
Sleep, my friend, and you will see
That dream is my reality
They keep me locked up in this cage
Can't they see it's why my brain says "rage"
Sanitarium, leave me be
Sanitarium, just leave me alone
Build my fear of what's out there
Cannot breathe the open air
Whisper things into my brain
Assuring me that I'm insane
They think our heads are in their hands
But violent use brings violent plans
Keep him tied, it makes him well
He's getting better, can't you tell?
No more can they keep us in
Listen, damn it, we will win
They see it right, they see it well
But they think this saves us from our hell
Sanitarium, leave me be
Sanitarium, just leave me alone
Sanitarium
Just leave me alone
Fear of living on
Natives getting restless now
Mutiny in the air
Got some death to do
Mirror stares back hard
kill is such a friendly word
seems the only way
for reaching out again - Видеоклипы
My best friend took his life cause of psychological problems. We played guitar together for years. He even had the hammet signature guitar. I was so jealous. This song reminds me of my dear old friend. Miss you brother!
Stay strong brother
^ sending u lots of love man ❤️
He didn't leave you the guitar huh?
i am sorry about your friend
God bless and may he RIP
This is the Metallica song that I can relate to the most to because as a child my adopted mother who couldn't handle the responsibility of being a parent kept putting me into mental hospitals in a failed attempt to get me committed so she could get a check off me. There were moments in my childhood where I questioned the reality of what was happening to me. Back in the 80's it was legal to do that to your kids. Thank God the insurance ran out in 1993.
That's messed up mate.
May God bless you and your loved ones.
Praying for you man. I can't imagine what you have been through.
I was bounced between placement through most of my teens. This song helped to heal me, in a way that nothing else has. Powerful song, especially if you have survived impatient
That's awul man, sorry
My father went to prison when I was young, he came back when I graduated Highschool. He's not the same, I believe he's still stuck there mentally, drinking everyday and I want him to be free, even when he's already a free man. This song reminds me of his struggle. Take care of your mental health people, please.
Tell him jesus loves him and pray for him i was depressed and anxious and was bad it hurt and i was loosing hope but even tho i had believed i would be this way forever i still never stopped praying and im glad to say jesus freed me of my depression and anxiety it took me a while to realise but only jesus is the way out jesus is the only way out of anything GOD bless you and him.
@@adriancortez3965 so you're saying Jesus can get me out of debt potentially?, Where is this wealthy, charitable mexican you are referencing, how can I find him

This song is the perfect example of metal. Crunchy riffs, blazing solos, a dreamy intro, increasing tempo, intelligent lyrics, top-quality sound balance and orchestration. It's a masterpiece of music, just try to find something wrong with it.
There is a problem, it's just 6mins long😅
@@gedadon69 :D
Agreed this is their best ballad imo even better than One which is saying a lot
@@DRu.913 Yep, One is no slouch (it deserves its acclaim) but I think that the pace and melody of Sanitarium is better, personally.
Can you suggest me a similar metal song from another group? I love this song and of course Metallica
I love listening to this while walking on the beach with my girlfriend, until the LSD wears off and I realize I’m dragging a mannequin around a Burger King parking lot.
That's metallica. They will leave you feeling defiled but you want more

Nice job! Thank you!
As a kid, I spent a lot of time locked up in various mental health facilities, and I remember feeling like this song spoke of how I was feeling. Many years, decades, have passed, yet this song still speaks to me, and every time I hear it, I'm taken back to those days. I doubt I'll ever escape that past, none of my attempts have ever been successful. I think some people are just not meant for this world.
best Metallica song in my opinion the intro alone brings tears
The ending makes me so sad because it brings back so many memories about me and him and my mother going to a nervous breakdowns in 86 all of the same time. Fucking beautiful music tho
El mejor intro de todos los de metallica, de acuerdo contigo
One of the best rock n' roll song ever made. RIP CLIFF!
Me and my buddy used to jam out to this . In highschool
The intro gives me a nostalgic feeling.
The phrase: “No more van they keep us in. Listen dammit, we will win” reminds of the ongoing pandemic.
used to drive around my town as a kid with friends smoking weed and blasting this album. we never had anywhere to go, we were just living the dream.
I miss those days. Late 80s early 90s.

How lucky I was to be a young teenager back then when it all happened.
Tanks to Metallica
I bought MOP on cassette in 1986 after hearing Metallica for the first time in a record store I was browsing in,they were playing this album and the thing that should not be was the song playing at the time ,that was back in the good ol days of vinyl, really loved checking out the import section running across albums by bands I had never even heard of, but anyway that was about two weeks before Cliffs death.
Ships to Megadeth :D
It’s like teenagers and Metallica go together like bread and butter got into Metallica when I was 18 before turning 19 I’m currently 20 still Metallica is the goat of metal! No offense to megadeath or every other thrash band
Incredible how ahead of it's time this is. Their music was made to last. 2021 still legendary as ever

Shed a tear every fucking time I hear this song... my best friend and I would jam this in high school all the time, those were the good days. My best friend is no longer here, as he was senselessly murdered - saddest day of my life.
I'm sorry to hear that my friend.
Thank you, I appreciate that greatly
Sorry to hear that. Senselessly murdered is a hell of a way to go out. Wouldn’t wish it on anybody.
So many awesome Metallica songs, but Sanitarium never failed to give me the chills. What a masterpiece.
We lost Cliff Burton’s dad, Ray. May he join Cliff, his wife, Jan, and their oldest son, Scott. There only remains one Burton family member, Connie
That's so sad to lose your whole family.
Damn...ty for letting us know, and yes i hope he is hugging his son after so many years.
"We lost" as if Cliff's playing extends to his family? Get the fuck outta here. As much as I love this song and Metallica, who gives a shit?

This is my favorite Metallica song! I lost my dad a few years back, he struggled with mental health after a teenage injury. His work ethic was supreme, he was a caring fella! This song reminds me of all the moments we shared… I love you dad!
Maybe the greatest songs are the ones that are most relatable. Battling severe depression because of Covid, this song seems to tell my story, it seems to mirror my life and often it feels like it mirrors my future. Cliff Burton gave Metallica a level of spiritual energy that not many bands could ever have, and every time I listen to their first three albums, I feel the presence of an angel. He’s a key reason for why many people consider this album to be one of the greatest ever. His legacy should never be foreshadowed. Sorry for the long paragraph.
Bro your comment... This song also connected me with my angel, my spiritual guide. Good journey on this dream for all ❤️
You're a pussy if you got depression from covid
Stop being a bitch
No offense, but Burton is simply dead and buried. Either way, this is one of the most expressive songs ever written about real depression, and his contribution will live on for those of us that battle every day.
What if we figured out how to travel beyond life just to have more songs with cliff? Its a hilarious but great idea
Thats a fact
Does anyone else agree that this is one of the best discs ever recorded?

this song is one of the most important songs ever written in my opinion. Especially for ANYONE struggling with any sort of mental battle that most people cant understand. this song has always connected to me since I was a kid and the meaning of it has only got stronger as I have aged. I only wish more people would listen to this now a days, and I mean really LISTEN to it since everyone is so keen on mental health, instead of the the garbage music that comes out today.

Best of the best. I don't think anything by Metallica will ever come close to this song again, it was PURE!
chusss Music I love Metallica, the good, bad and the wah. But back in the day, they were raw, primal and driven to make perfect songs. They made albums where you play the whole album, and they made several like that. The first 5, I play the whole thing. I'm pretty sure I don't personally listen to any other bands that I can say that about. I'm about the same age as these guys, I was introduced to them after Ride The Lightning by my then boyfriend. I have not stopped listening to them since. I was lucky enough to see them 4x back in the late 80's and early 90's. No matter how many times I listen to them, I never get tired of it. 🤘❤🤘

This song has so much significance to me, as I'm sure you all do. But my little brother was diagnosed with schizophrenia at 16 years old, me being only a year older. I've lived with this. The struggling pain of seeing him trying to deal. The lyric, "keep him tired, it makes him well, he's getting better can't you tell". Seeing my brother drugged, always kept a hole in my heart. But this song always got me through. And that's why I fucking love Metallica.

Master Of Puppets is considered one of if not the greatest metal album ever, receiving positive reviews from critics everywhere, even those who weren't into metal liked it.
My dad told me that he and his friends would sing this song together during lunch when they were in school. Only they would sing "Cafeteria" instead of "sanitarium." Little comments that give insight on his life in the 80s and 90s make me really happy and make the music more special to me.
The Intro is so mysterious and eerie....brilliant

RTL says no.
No, Ride The Lightning is their best!
There are no "best Metallica albums" just the Holy Four.
But the best of them is "Ride The Lightning"
Most creative solos I’ve ever heard.
Why does this song make you feel high inside or like you are experiencing déjà vu like you have a memory of this song you never had before
This song is deep. I listen to it to get answers when i feel a certin way. I can say that its amazing how a song can influence ones actions. I struggle ....the struggle is real. Trust your struggle.
Yes i go to metallica for that. I need it to soothe and guide me.
I remember listening to this shit as a kid on cassette tape. I think the music you grow up listening to becomes significant. They say smell is the strongest when concerning memories. I say hearing.
I didn't like my mom's shit .
I got my own taste in music at around 15.
Would rush home after school to listen to it ,and kill em all
i say both
OR... you know, this could just be peerless fucking music.
event horizon 212 I’m 14 and this is like all I listen too
I love this song...It totally reprezents my life so far....I have been suffering from depression since I was 17,and now I am 33.Others remember high-school as a pleasant period of their lives, but mine was a complete nightmare, because my colleagues were mocking me all the time...But in the end, ,,Listen, damn it I will win!!!!!!!!"
I was thinking that people who like this song have more empaty and self-awerness then people who listen to pop-music...but somehow, thru the years, normally people relate this kind of music with crazy persons.
