I saw the house of pain play at a gig in Tippeary Ireland in 1994 as well as cypress hill, I discovered hash that weekend , one of the best gigs ever .
As someone who is terrified of writing and hearing that opening plug, I have never been a greater fan of Dave Landau, who is secretly introducing people to their greatest selves. Hes so well spoken, well balanced and open to everything and anything that makes me quiver in my boots as to how incredible he is. I feel the more I watch the more I find my place in the world, and the fact that people like you are not as alone as I felt. Dark, honest, funny. Amazing.
Dave's had a pretty rough life, I think that has given him quite a bit of humility and genuine compassion and interest in other people. He was always great at interviewing people and as Normal World continues I think Dave keeps getting stronger and stronger as a host, we love ya Dave
I've never looked at my boys and said, 'you're gonna be just like him'. Good on Danny to not listen to such bullshit from people that say they care. Great interview, Dave! 'JUMP'!
@@msbecks7004 that's probably closer to the truth...I try to warn my daughter constantly about making the kinds of decisions that will turn her into her mother, a homeless junkie convict that has been disowned by her family.
I love The Outsiders! Remember vividly when I read the book and saw the movie as a teen in the early 90s in Brazil. There is a "Stay Gold" print at the wall in my kid 's room, 🙏🏻
I loved "The Outsiders" in middle school. It really resonated with me because my parents had just divorced, causing many major changes in a short time.
Loved this episode truly made time fly by, here’s to hoping at some point you and 1/4 can branch out without a network controlling time frames! I could have easily listened to this for 4+ hours really this is the best episode of normal world.
Holy crap....Music Plus....I used to ride my bike to that place and get all my cassettes and VHS' there!! It was the one in Rosemead, CA. wow....crazy. I havent heard anyone else mention that store in decades. It eventually became Wherehouse...then those went out of business too. Wow.
Life's a trip. When I was listening to house of pain in the 90s doing all my dirt being a miracle that I survived past the age of 21 to now still listening to HoP but sober at age 40 picking up the kids from school.
I really enjoyed this episode. I love how every episode can have such a distinct feel. I love when Dave, Matt and Derek tear it up one night, and have these candid discussions of sobriety and hope on another night. I really appreciate what you guys are doing.
Not a popular opinion these days but Fine Malt Lyrics is a perfect album cover to cover. Came out when I was 16 and I wore it out from track one to the end daily. Still bangs

@@pnmwngy1 I listened to fine malt lyrics here on RUclips and yeah your absolutely right. House of pain has some cult classic lyrics & songs like "When I die bury me hang my balls from the cherry tree and when they look ripe them take a if there sour don't blame me" back from the dead is awesome every time I hear it .
This was a great show and interview. It is always heartening to hear stories of people like Dave and Danny Boy who have lost more than most people can fully understand but they didn’t let that define them. Making that choice to move forward even though you can’t see why you should is inspiring. Thank you for being an inspiration to those who may need it.
Checking this out after watching "Kid 90". Punky Brewster (Soleil Moon Frye) mentions she was good friends and dated Danny Boy as the first album came out.
My son at a year old last year loves to dance and Jump Around is one of his favorites to bop too. I at 28 also love that song and I'm sure in the past year I've listened to it a hundred times or more.
Fascinating. Dave just gets better and better. On his way to ruling the world! I cannot imagine anyone watching corporate late-night instead of Normal World.
Absolutely enjoyed this episode, probably my favorite so far. Just to hear his journey and the call he's taken on is so cool. What an arc, thanks for sharing team and not talking over the guest like some shows do.
DB’s is my best friend and brother and I’ve personally have heard his story hundreds of times, but each time I’ve always walked away inspired and have learnt something. “Always take your shot!”
Haha on a side note. Dave was an inspiration to me in my sobriety journey, so thanks for being you Dave. I was watching crowder since before not gay jarred and I haven’t watched that narcissist since Dave’s been off the show
What a fantastic episode. So good!! I have loved S.E. Henton since I was 13. Been to Tulsa more times then I can count, never knew that's where it was filmed. Planning my trip back right now. Thank you all!
Great interview as an Irish kid from Queens NY my circle of white friends all embraced hip hop in the early 90s. We immediately latched onto House Of Pain they looked like us were Irish like us, alot of memories attached to their music. Great interview glad to see Danny Boy is doing well.
i don't know why but i don't think i've ever heard danny speak- only rap- he doesn't talk the way i thought he would- i’m only a few yrs younger than most of house of pain and got all their albums right when it came out and love the outsiders just as much as him- so this interview is right up my alley- nice job 👍
This is so cool I remember them filming The Outsiders or Rumblefish in Tulsa in early 80s one night when I was out in Tulsa .. 63 now .. wow time flies .. that’s so cool Danny has kept the history up of the film
Couldnt stop thinking how Danny Boy looks like Timothy Olyphant but the ending about not asking for help hit me…hate to ask for help, never thought of it as a strength but hard things to do often are the best thing for you…that journey was epic
I love that movie since I was 7? Top 5 that I watch over and over. I also believe that COPPOLA,, when he was casting for apocalypse now,he gave a bit part to his younger nephew and that small bit was NICK CAGE,the rest is history, cages best movie has to be raising Arizona,az he robs a store and runs through garden obstacles while desperately trying not to drop the nappies that his wife needed for their baby, what a classic with the added music and the typical format of the COHEN brothers!hi from IRELAND, hopefully I don't break any RULEZ from the freaks in charge of our mess of a world,
Mickey's, Suicidal, and Celtic Frost in the same interview?!?! It's like reliving my childhood. They still make Mickey's, although they took away the Big Mouth which allowed you to down them in one shot, kinda defeats the purpose.
Dave's the perfect interviewer for this episode
This episode is reaching Joe Rogan tiers of insightful interviewing. Well done Dave and Team.
😆how insulting
Respect to Normal World for refusing Gambling Sponsors!
Absolutely
I met DB when I worked as a doorman in Hollywood early 90s
He's always been an outstanding human.
I saw the house of pain play at a gig in Tippeary Ireland in 1994 as well as cypress hill, I discovered hash that weekend , one of the best gigs ever .
I love it. That's awesome.
Well that had me hanging on every word, I grew up in that era and was a street kid. So happy he’s still around, many didn’t make it.😔
Yep. God bless. 👍🏽 🙏🏽🧡🇺🇸
This was easily the greatest episode of Normal World yet.
😮 don’t confuse our algorithms please
🥱
That moustache really made it.
This is your first exposure then :(
It took me like 4 tries to get through this one.
Huge House Of Pain fan!! This was unexpected, but greatly appreciated.

He’s exactly the best of what I like about Gen Xers that made it out the other end intact.
Dave was the best part of Louder with Crowder. I can't hardly watch it now. Jim Breuer is cool to see, though.
Gaaaaaaayyyuuuuuhhh!

I’ve seen every episode of NM. This was the best one in my opinion
It makes me mad every time I see the amount of views that the show gets. It should be way more!
I would put in Dave Landau youtube searches and get completely different results. He should be a household name already
I agree 1000% but I also love that we get exclusivity rights

I like all of the straight up comedy episodes of Normal World but this one was great in its own way for being insightful and inspirational.

I completely agree, though 8 people from the peanut gallery apparently don't.
I loved "The Outsiders" in middle school. It really resonated with me because my parents had just divorced, causing many major changes in a short time.
It's soo great! My best friend, to this day is still called golden boy
I didn't realize I lived the same life as Danny Boy O'Connor! I worshipped The Outsiders, loved Fast Times at Ridgemont High, the Fonz, all of it!
Thank You Danny Boy for sharing your story, it shows people that they are not alone. One of the best episodes on this channel. Keep it up y’all

It's weird when you do the math and realize she was 17 when they started dated, while he was like 24.
