I am currently in Singapore after spending a month in Bali. I visited Maldives and stayed with Soneva last year. Frankly, I preferred Bali. If all you're looking for is just the barefoot luxury, the bungalows, food and the swimming, then Maldives is awesome. Unfortunately, you can't simply go from one resort to the next without being rich. The sea plane and boat transfers are expensive. I like having easy access to the airport, central city and the residential areas. But Bali and Penida Island, I prefer because it's one large main island with resorts you can easily get to by vehicle. There's plenty to do and many resorts offer hotel room/pool/beach access along with spas that in many ways are better.

I didn't trust my first expression but now I can see it is the same Soneva Jani as the first video I watched on your channel a couple of years ago but it is a different way you show it and I must say that it looks like a different place, amazing. I haven't been on vacation for years and when I'm watching this video I feel like I'm looking at somebody I really miss and whom I haven't seen for ages.
Yeah, I have to agree with the doctor on this one. This is now my fav Maldives resort. The overwater villa is spectacular, but I was even more impressed with the beach villa. Talk about a peaceful and private paradise. That would definitely be my choice if I win the lottery...lol. Thanks for one very enjoyable vid, Doc.

Doctor, 3 hours?..wow.....i felt like i got to see all that soneva jani has to offer. it was much more in depth than when u were there previously. the food alone is worth a visit...didn't seem overpriced to me for such a luxury resort. im not sure it has improved enough to compete with the more modern cheval blanc.. you have stayed at all three...what do you say?
Having been to the Maldives 6 times and never paid too much more than one night's cost at Soneva, I was wondering if it would be worth saving up for. As amazing as it clearly looks, i'm not sure there is much that looks so much beyond what you get on the other islands. It's all just more polished and refined looking. The sliding roof though, we've never had and that is very cool! Is it worth 10x or more than other islands, I don't believe so, looking at that.

Thanks for the updated tour. The food didn't look as well presented this edition, and the desserts looked mass produced. Plate presentation was not clean. It looked like a completely different food service. I was blown away by the food presentation the first time. What's different? My favorites were the chocolate rooms and the ice cream room. Not this time. I saw red velvet cake! Even the honey comb looked sad. The new kid's space looked great, but have they forgotten their food service? I have so much respect for this place, but this was not a good surprise.
