  • Finding Leading Lines - Photography Exercise
    #photography #leadinglines
A short exercise in leading lines in photography. So often we focus on rules - like the rules of thirds etc. In this video I take a look at leading lines.

You take wonderful, well thought out photos Tudor, love your analysis of each photo.
Excellent ad hoc participation by the ladies. Would be great if they see this video and leave a comment 😏

Many thanks! I must admit the interaction with the ladies who walk was the highlight of the day for me. So spontaneous and kind of gave me a leading line up the bridge lol

For my two penneth, I was looking at your guitars behind you. I think a good leading line, using Macro perhaps, would be to follow the strings of the guitar to the tuning thingys at the end...... :)

Ooo that would be a good composition if I can get the depth of field right. I might have a play with that. 👍

    Great work, great video
Deal Signal box's job is to control a junction, so the leading line in the picture did capture railway track points. Nice to see a Semaphore signal, we got a few dotted around the railyard at my work but they are no longer used.
Another composition rule you did with the train tracks is create a vanishing point, you created a vanishing point under the pier as well. Looks like you are shooting f13, I almost always shoot f5.6 as it has focus drop off but still shows a story when I shoot people or street photography.

Oh that’s interesting to know about the control of a junction and also the vanishing point. I closed the aperture down to try and keep as much focus in the frame. I’m still learning 🧑🏻‍🎓

@@TudorSmithPhotography i am still learning photography, owned a film camera since 1979 and still learning something everyday. been driving trains since 2004, the railway world is a whole different planet compared to the everyday world. Signal boxes are the pain in the backside for drivers and the signallers think of us drivers as a pain as well. I was trying to figure out at the start of the video what the grid you were on was for? we have dragons teeth grids on our tracks to stop graffiti/ trespassers
