This is the second time I heard you say that you were beaten at work!!! You have to be so careful and vigilant in your field. I'm so sorry that happened to you my dear.❤
Babyyy!!! My beautiful Odogwuress....let me say to you welcome to mental health services where every shift is unpredictable. I am 20 years practising, still counting as a mental health nurse. Please stay safe and always report when verbally or physically abused. Sending you love and light. Come for naija jollof as a treat during Christmas since you are in Birmingham. Stay safe, ma darling
I’m so sorry you have to go through this hun, it’s not just mental health, you see this in geriatrics medicine too with, and confused patients too. Gurl when you see any signs of a patient trying to be aggressive you have to tell them off firmly and you don’t stay back to ask them why, you have to call for help or walk away. No one should go to work and get abused, Buh working in mental health should even make you even more alert of your environment , once a patient Don dey near you like that Igba oso!
I work in mental health and I can totally relate even though I have never been physically assaulted at work before. Did your team not come to your rescue? I’m really sorry you had to go through this. I have had days I cried cos of the job. We will be fine
@vonvicky you be real storyteller...sorry about your experience. Working in care generally has got its risks...but like you said, documentation cannot be overemphasized.
Sorry I’m also facing that trauma. I’m confused whether to leave the job but I’m on cos . Those people have been horrible even staff sometimes contribute to the problem.
Omo, mental health is not easy, though I haven't worked in MH in the NHS but I have supported clients with mental health issues in my dorm days. I must say I dodged a bullet when God kept me from it cos sometimes those name calling can dey pain, and you are helpless. Currently work in the community, NHS as an Assessor with a reenablement team. Really glad you're fine dearie, please, stay safe and ignore those patients who are just wanting to push your buttons. I tell the SW working with my team, it's you against them and it's always going to be in their favour, the skin colour sef makes it worse. Take all the time off you can get and relax. Sending you hugs Single baddie to single baddie 😂😂😂
Dont mind those general nursing people. They even go as far as calling the ward to report that staff are pressing their mobile phone. I wonder why they dont mind their business.
I work as a mental health counselor and it's not easy!!! So many times I have had to have security in the office with me while dealing with some difficult clients. Let's not talk about the insult!. I am so sorry this happened to you, sending warm hugs to you.
I think this would be the 2nd time you would be assaulted at work. Please take precautions 🙏 Also, what's the duty of the hospital management as regards this assault?
