Great video! It's clearing up ALL my questions so far! I'm a less-than-beginner in carriage driving, as I have been riding English style all my life, but now that I'm too tall and heavy to ride my favorite pony, I want to have a better way to continue her training. She's taking to driving like a natural with the harness and reins alone; I can't wait to get a well-fitting cart for her!
I really like this series of video. Carriage driving is something I've always wanted to learn, but there is not much interest in it where I live. I can't get over how gorgeous that poney is.
We never said they weren't looked after well. They look great. It's just a bit old fashioned. And those empty ears are ugly. And it's bad for them too. But I'm sure they're looked after very well.
I'm Dutch, so I just translate it. We call it cutting in Dutch and not clipping. doesn't matter a bit. And you tell me I don't know 'nothing'? The hairs on the nose are there to prevent the horse hitting its nose because he can't see it. And yes, IF they have fly masks on it won't be a real problem. But most horses don't or wear fly masks with ear protection. Also it's just ugly to see. Why not showing horses how they're supposed to be? With (groomed) hair. Looks so much better.
it is obvius you know nothing it is called clipped not cut and the horses do not need hair in there ears if they have fly masks on and the ons on the noes can be clipped they do not have a real perpose tjhey are just so the hors knows where thir nose it yes i do not clip my horse but if i did shows i wouldin 2 days it grows back so the horses are not being hurt and showing horses do not hurt them
Nice video only I hate the way this pony is cut. The hairs from its nose are gone and also they cut the hairs out of its ears. These hairs aren't there from fun, they have a purpose.
i have dylxcia and my frind has allso done 8 in hand champion and won so there and she has allso done 12 in hand and done with Clydesdale run so my frind knows way more then you there is no point in explaining it casue here it is done way diffrent the where others do it i woud know my frind has done it in 6 diffrent cuntrys
We only do the rims. And I think I knew I was talking about long before you were born. I'm in the organisation of driving competitions myself so you don't have to tell me about it. Go play with your dolls.
An American 14 year old kid. I could have guessed it..We're not talking about rodeo's darling. We're talking about REAL horse driving shows where people really care about their horses.
here it is still done and sometimes it is just the rims of the ears some times it inside to so just shut up it is obvius you reallly have no clue what you are talking about
You don´t have a clue how it works. I didn´t change the subject, there´s nothing to talk about. You don´t know how it works at all. Saying the horses suffer, lol. Yeah right.
Just like I thought, big mouth but when you ask them to explain how it really works they´re gone. Go play with your ´little pony´ darling, and leave the real thing to the grown ups.
One of the better driving information videos from someone who actually knows what they are doing. well done.

Ive got a small two wheel, one person cart & plan on teaching my new standard size donkey to drive. Love these vudeos for fitting instructions, etc.

Really good :)
It really looks like you know what you're doing :D
And of course it looks brilliant
Well done.
it's still being done. Saw it yesterday on a driving competition.
Well done! thank you
@Saartje05 I believe the point of this video is to be informative of how to hitch a pony; not Fashion.
@ManuelCat Not here it isn't. Many people drive their horses here.
All kinds. Hundreds of horses there.
Great videos--a little slow and can be dull at times. Great information though
0:43 DAWWWW SO CUTE!
7 year olds could do al this 100 years ago!
i live in the USA and every one has fly masks and the whiskers grow back with in 2 days
Most horses here have them too, but ´clipping´ the ears is oldfashion and not done anymore. And I don´t give a shit if they hairs grow back or not.
Btw, I saw the picture of the horse. Is that yours? If it is, I'd call the vet. There's something wrong with his skin.
@Nitrostreak Too bad.

I never see ribbons darling. That´s not why they drive.
@Saartje05 Pardon?

If you´re such a specialist in this, tell me how it works. What do they drivers do and what does a competition work. Tell me.
I think I owned horses long before you were born, lol

HOW does a competition work. You know so well...
i have dylxcia and my frind has allso done 8 in hand champion and won so there and she has allso done 12 in hand and done with Clydesdale run so my frind knows way more then you there is no point in explaining it casue here it is done way diffrent the where others do it i woud know my frind has done it in 6 diffrent cuntrys
And try to write normally instead of using sms language. Or is that 2 much 4 you?

What? You have to look it up first before you can answer? You were so quick first. Lol. Too late.
Please now in English so I understand what you mean. Horses pay badly?? We're not payed at all, it's a hobby.

It's a bit too English for me. Geez, those clothes of the woman and the girl holding the pony.
Just like I thought, big mouth but when you ask them to explain how it really works they´re gone. Go play with your ´little pony´ darling, and leave the real thing to the grown ups.
