  • This is the Tai Chi Yang style 2nd form, also known as the competition form, which has 42 positions drawn mainly from Yang style, but also from Wu and Chen.
It is very nice, but complicated to learn

Maxime Boussery This is the 42 competition form. Not Yang. It actually contains the essential principles and important characteristics of the four major styles.
    Excelent execution!!

Agree. Its a competition set that incorporates the four major styles of Chen, Yang, Sun & Wu.

devananda giri Its sad to hear such chauvinist attitude from a foreigner living in China. "Nobody does Taiji correctly but my own master" thing is as old as the art itself. The `stupid' form was created by one of China’s most famous Tai Chi Masters grandmaster Li De Yin, who taught the art at university for decades and who started his Taiji training at 8 years old. He is a real master. You have much to learn about Taiji.

Yes thank you for saying this, America is full of Taiji snobs who don’t understand the history and development of the art, things change and progress Taiji and everything else.
If people want to do tai chi like they did 150 years ago then why don’t they use a cell phone from the 1980s.
Everything changes and improves, just because it’s new doesn’t mean it’s bad. The modernized forms have made taiji available to tens of thousands of people that otherwise would not be able to benefit from it, like me. I practice the 24, 32, and 42 and also the eight and I have gotten great Benefit from it.

Yes, it's indeed very difficult to learn. My experience is startling from the basic and easy, such as the Yang style 24 forms. When you feel comfortable with 24, learn the 48. More than half of the forms of 42 are the same or similar as in 48.

Because many of us don't need them. As long as the specific Taji criteria are upheld the technique is of lesser importance.

If this is the Yang style, she forgets a lot and lots of details are wrong...

Locks her knees, over extends the front knees, closes the kua, shoulders not relaxed,Basically a stupid form trying to mix yang,wu and chen styles.Performed like 90% of the taiji practitioners in china who know didly squat about taiji! This is jianhua government sanctioned taiji as propagated in the 50's or 70's to bring an end to the real gongfu of the real taiji masters!
