You kind of rushed through the setup for git and perhaps did not mention that a path needed to be put in place for git. I couldn't connect to the repo for the clone project until I figured out that I needed to go back to the global config and set that. Still, I was able to use this video to get jenkins, git and all of that up and going in my Lightsail (WordPress instance) Ubuntu vm pretty quickly. Thanks.
