I will never understand people that say "Why are you modding a slow bike, just buy a stock fast one"
Those people will never understand the pleasure of improving something that you enjoy, so that you can enjoy it even more without getting something that is completely different

If you like the looks, rideability, mileage and throttle feel of the 350, then modding the 350 makes sense. I mean sure you can get G310R for similar price, which is 34 hp watercooled bike, and actually also has a nice relaxed throttle feel, but then you have a modern bike with the 'Wasp's head' looks, and also no low end torque anymore.

I have owned much faster bikes, faster but sterile.
I am happy to spend $'s to make it run cooler & run properly but see little value or purpose in injecting the little 350 with steroids' - after all the bike has a speed limiter wired into the ABS.

@@MotoMorten I think visual mods are cool, but when it comes to performance changes I think it can change the character of the bike too much if you aren’t careful. Opening a restricted airbox is one thing, but I’ve had bad experiences with bikes where the previous owners threw everything they could at the machine and the performance actually suffered for it. i added the kent cam a few months back, after adding the dna, decat and fuelx. it's not a different bike, but the original, more so. it takes a little while for the new configuration the bed in, but it's totally worth it. a slightly different riding style and much improved. looking forward to the big bore kit. a 450 head would be great and a route around the limiters. anyone talking about a loss of bottom end grunt are wrong in my opinion.

Only thing Ive done so far is a DNA filter kit which does help throttle response .
Im going to fit a Punjab short pea shooter to improve exhaust gas flow as its got no baffles and having looked at the cat its a straight through type so only gives light restriction unlike the silencer.
Dubious about a cam change as increasing power by 30% if true means the ends, crank etc are under increased stress.

There is an electronic speed limiter based on ABS system, so the bike is will not be going faster with increased power. Argentina has different fuel with more alcohol in it and thats why they have different ECU black boxes to control injection. Argentina model ECU does not have speed limiter, but here in Europe normal Hunter ECU might be easier to purchase. Just a though, for inexpensive test purpose you might try to fool the speed limiter by using tin foil to block every fifth abs hole in front wheel abs system.

Since 2005 I have a pre unit Bullet 4 speed kickstart. I planned to pimp it this year with big bore, new crankshaft and bigger valves. In a moment of clearness, I bought a Hunter for the about 4000€ the upgrade of the Bullet would have cost. The 350 is such a cultivated machine! Nevertheless, an upgrade to about 25 HP would be nice. I wonder what performance the cam would bring together with chiptuning, but without touching exhaust and airfilter?

Good thing you didn't modify the old pre unit Bullet. Keep it as original as possible and cherish it. They are getting as rare as hen's teeth here in India. Most of them have been scrapped. But the old thumper had a lovely beat and was a pleasure to tool around at low speeds. Definitely not built for speed.by the way, I have a Hunter too. Great bike.

I would be thinking very carefully before dumping the EFI and the computer-managed mixture control because a too lean mixture in an air-cooled engine has some interesting side effects. My Triumph 250 single started melting the piston top, back in the early 1970's, when I ran it too lean (we were still using leaded fuel then). I will be watching with great interest for your reports on how the carburetor conversion goes. You may need to add some thermocouples to report the exhaust temperatures just so you know when you are heading into risky temperatures. Nice video, thanks 🙂

Thanx for your comment. I believe the ECU is already running it lean. Specially at high rpms where the fuel x is not working. With a carb I can tune it to be richer and not be second guessed by a computer...?

Its ridiculously over engineered for the standard level of performance it gives and will be designed with a load of contingency. I think what you have done is great! My concern with a big bore kit is unlike the cam it will alter the character in a much more substantial way due to the nature of a single cylinder thumper. They have found a real balance with the 349cc but with a bigger sleeve / jug and piston your going to get vibrations that the current counter balanced wont be able offset. So you will be trading that butter smooth feel for power. It will definitely be a trade off. Just something to consider

Changing to a kick starter?? You can do that? For me the new cam wouldn't help. With the poor state of the roads around here means my bike spends most of its time between 3,000 and 4,000 rpm where the benefits of the cam are negligible. (I fitted a rev counter in place of the tripper) However I am going to buy the free flow de-cat exhaust from Hitchcocks because it is about half the weight of the standard system.
