I love the fact that when it used the memories of Frieren to create a fake ghost Himmel that the ghost told her to shoot him. It is such a great way to speak to the character of Himmel.
I would love to see the monster's POV if they're even sentient. "Alright business as usual we use their most cherished person's memory and accurately copy their personality so it would be convincing." Ehrsam disguised as Himmel: Shoot me. Also the Ehrsam: Wait what?? *dies

Because Himmel totally would sacrifice himself to save Frieren 😢
OK, but the fact that the monster when described as Himmel told Frieren to shoot him absolutely means that she does not believe that he could, under any circumstances lie to her, and oh my God, my heart.
I believe that stark is seventeen here, so he’s one year older than fern. Also, you keep mentioning how drastically Himmel changed when he got old. I have heard others theorize that Himmel’s body was affected by that dragon horn he kept (he asked frieren if it was harmful, and she ‘didn’t know’ but he kept it anyway). Himmel was also the only human with no magic in the party, so that could have something to do with it.
If you want to figure out how old Fern is then subtract 11 years from the death of Himmel. In the birthday episode Fern stated she was 16 in the same year it was stated it was 27 years after the death of Himmel. The shrinking of Himmel’s body is just a trope of Japanese anime.
honestly i dont think its supposed to be important, himmel just aged differently, its a fantasy world no point theorizing about something that was most likely just a plot point
I'm watching this anime as it comes out and after you started watching it I keep thinking to myself, "oh they'll love this part" and "the animation here is so good cant wait for them to see it."
I love how Stark is just frightening convinced the dragon is something humans can’t beat, but it’s normal for him to tear fissures into the side of a mountain. Boi, normal humans can’t do that xD
They are going to love Stark a lot just like everyone else because I have seen no dislike towards him from the fans! Never compare Zenitsu with my boy Stark. Fern and Stark are the same age.
@@Restryouis That's not true in episode 3 Fern turned 16 and when we met Stark they both are 17. Don't forget the timeskips and why they always display how many years it's been since Himmel's death. If you don't believe me just look it up online.
Yeah, Fern met Frieren when she was a little girl and then spent 5 years learning magic from her while she deciphered the book Heiter gave her, and now she's been traveling with her for a couple of years since Heiter passed away. So from Fern's p.o.v. she's spent half her life with Frieren because she's currently sixteen. They don't seem to realize it, but Frieren was basically Fern's mom.
Did you notice when Frieren said "mere ten years" at the beginning of this, her facial expression, body language, and tone of voice were all different from the first time she said it?
I always like to think that although she looked calm, Frieren was actually deep down inside absolutely RAGING that it tried to use the memory of Himmel against her, which is why she unleashed such massive overkill and absolutely obliterated it.
That's exactly what happened. She doesn't normally do a full blast like that unless there's a reason. She was for sure taking out her rage on the phantom. It's such a subtle way of showing the viewer what she's feeling despite her impassive expression.
honestly there is a lot of subtle things you will miss on just one watch. The directing is amazing in this anime. The details when you notice and have your oh moment is great. The show really does 'show don't tell' amazingly Her seeing himmel also indicates how important and dear he is to her. We already know it by now from all of what we watched but this further solidifies it. It also kinda shows how she lacks awareness of that fact. She doesn't even realise yet her own feelings. She says she doesn't know him but she did know & understand him which the shoot me part also kinda shows a tiny bit.
I have been looking forward to meeting Stark since seeing him in the opening. He has a really cool design, and I can't wait to see how he fights with his Battle Ax. By his mountain trying, he seems pretty strong. Also, shout-out too, Lady Sam, for taking up for Zenitsu. Dani McHater disrespect will not be tolerated 😅😅😅
I don't know about you guys, but judging by the size of that blast it seemed to me that Frieren may have been a bit...angry...that the Einsam had stolen her memories of Himmel.
😍Dani🥰It’s snowing and raining here, only in Chicago. My girl and I are sitting on my bed in my dorm room doing a five hundred piece puzzle. My roommate just burst through the door a few minutes ago, acting all anxious and suspicious. He finally came out and asked “What did you say to Soo Yun when you two first met?” I instantly knew Julia (His crush) was downstairs. So I said; I walked up to her and introduced myself. I was very kind and polite of course. I asked for her number so we could talk and get to know each other better and the rest is history. He said “Thanks dude!”and ran out the room!😂 Soo said “why did you lie to that boi? It was raining and you literally got under my umbrella and acted as if you knew me forever” she’s laughing at how fast I’m typing this to you right now. O Morgan Soo said “your hair and glasses are so freakin cute!!”✌🏽
Am I the only one that thinks the scene where the fake Himmel told Frieren "Shoot Me" is pretty cool? It showed what kind of character Himmel is or at least what kind of character Himmel is in Frieren's impression.
The ghost part is to illustrate that how every monster can be dangerous Fern easily kill it but ONLY when she did see the monster As for frieren it show that now her dearest isn't her master anymore but himmel, making her aware of her love for himmel
Since you guys would like to see the dragon trained I would suggest watching Dreamwork’s How To Train Your Dragon movies. It’s a trilogy series that have gotten great reviews.
Heiter was a priest, a buff and heal class, of the party who defeated the Demon King. He was a biest with support spells, only natural his life span is extended if he has the Goddesses protection and can heal every illness except death itself.
The reason Himmel look like that was because he was in close vicinity with the evil horn thingy for 50 long years, basically living with radioactive waste inside his closet. Bet he knew that's the case too but kept it anyway because he promised Frieren he'd keep it safe.
Fern is 16-17 about in this point. When Frieren met her it was 20 years after Himmel died. Fern's birthday is 27 years after And this bit is 28 years after. So she's known her 7/8 years, which for her is quite a bit. She's knwon Frieren for more time than she knew Heiter at this point as a context. EDIT: Also Stark is about Fern's age. This does com eup a bit later.
There's been much talk comparing Zenitsu and Stark. Both are capable cowards. Stark wins the comparisons by being a far more grounded, balanced and likeable coward.
"Are they the same age?" Sam is trying to build a ship. I see you and feel ya😊😊
i thought the exact sameeee
He's a few months older than her. Ship away, everyone.
re-watching this and read your comment, kept waiting for her to say it lol. Gotta love Stark x Fern.

I think Hummel being so small was just a design choice to exaggerate how much time passed
Also some people just age badly. You really thing your grandparents were that short when they were younger???

9:02 I am pretty sure that Frieren was very pissed that Einsam decides to use Himmel's memory against her. 😂
Exactly! XD

Mr Stark, I don't feel so good.
😅😅
Frieren was pissed off that it used her memory of Himmel. lol Look at the size of that Zoltraak

it's a 1 year / 2 year gap, she turns 16 and he turns 18 a few months later

the audio change at 22:25 scared the crap out of me lmao
Dude same 😂

Frieren was really angry at that monster using Himmel's face... and yeah, even his illusion was heroic, not trying to trick Frieren at all.

The disrespect for my boy Stark. He's the coward with the resolve. You'll find out in the next episode.
Stark the Warrior 💪
Himmel had to keep that cursed dragon horn for Friern remember, and it had negative affects on him which made him shorter and bald.
Well thats just a theory by fans. It most likely is jusy the short old person trope in anime.
that's a theory that can be proven wrong easily
look at denken, we never see him have any cursed dragon horn and he got very short too
This theory is becoming old and its not even true lol

I think part of the reason for Himmel ageing so fast is comedic. Because he was so vain we he was younger it's funny that he aged so poorly.
