Check out my updated logistics video going over the new logistics buildings like Supply Terminal and Delivery Station! ruclips.net/video/sJv6uhN4BYs/видео.html
A great companion series to Honeywell. They actually teach while playing on extreme. Brilliant stuff. I'll be adding VV as the other person on my must watch list for city builders
Excellent video!!! I'm a retired IT trainer, so I especially appreciated the additional diagrams. You presented a massive amount of information clearly and concisely! Looking forward to the next video!
Thank you for recognizing that! My partner who helps make these suggested to have infographics to explain supply chains and logistics. We are really happy to know they worked out well!
My only feedback is that this video was easy to follow, understand, and implement in my own game. You did a great job being patient, having a nice neutral tone to your voice, and the on-screen diagrams of the supply chain buildings were informative.
Thank you! We really appreciate that. :) We are also working on a follow up for this video, where i use those animations to show in details how each of the logistics buildings function!
Glad you enjoyed it! If you havent see it yet, episode 3 covers the first steps and what you can expect to see what happens when you play a new game :D
This was an absolutely impeccable guide to explaining logistics and how this works in game! I'm playing in a more recent version but I as trying to figure out if Marketplaces would take goods from the Supply Stations. Mine seem to not be after following one for a year, and I wasn't sure if it was a bug or how it was intended. I wanted to have those pull all the necessary goods close to my marketplaces, so they weren't searching for them in sporadic warehouses.
Thank you so much! I plan on redoing this video with the current version! Marketplace only pulls essential items like food, water, tools and clothes and it will get them from the closet storages available. This building didn't exist in this video, but you can use a Supply Terminal to hold those select items, and have them close to a marketplace so vendors can take the items they need from the terminal instead. Hope that made sense! ☺️
I actually live streamed myself continuing this map. If youre interested in watching, you can find the stream posted on my discord server. discord link can be found on my youtube channel page :)
Thank you! This is a well-put-together video. The amount of voice fry is considerably lower, you sound way more confident. Good job! Extra point of respect for nice and tidy settlements demonstrated in the video.
Hey, I appreciate your support and that you enjoy my content. Really I do. But please stop over analyzing my voice. I'm not doing anything special with my voice. I'm just talking to a mic. If my voice sounds weird, it's cus it naturally sounds weird and I've always been super self conscious about my voice. So please, keep the feedback on something I actually have control of, like video editing.
@@oVioletValkyriex I misunderstood how Transport Station works. I thought they empty every werehouses inside their radius, and dump them outside, I messed up my layout then, haha So that means, they need to be the only Storage in the area so they'll dump the supplies in them, so they could transfer them
New subscriber here. Very impressed with the presentation of information, clear and concise. I look forward to watching the rest of you videos. Thank you for your hard work.
Thank you! I dont think ill do lets play format videos. It takes me such a long time to edit these guides as is. Cant imagine editing hour long footage. However, i am thinking about streaming full playthroughs on twitch later on.
@@oVioletValkyriex Have you seen a spider make a web? All the strings.. seem like you know em all in the game. Each foot touche a string of a line, as you described it in the video. And the patiant to see if you are doing it right. One building have a synergy to work with something else in this web. I tried the game 2-3 times today. But it collapsed mid game. I could not see how the outer rings worked. So when i saw your video it kinda made sense.. that made you the spider in the web. Dont mind me calling you a spider, i kind of see things different. I'm glad you enjoyed it! I have another video coming up real soon that will go into more detail how each of the logistics buildings work, with examples! 🙂
Bought this game 2 weeks ago and I really needed these video's. Well paced and very informative. This may also explain why I've made storage yards, specified 1 good and it doesn't work. But if I specify a category it works. It must be a holdover bug from the previous UI/changes :(
This video is out dated, but try using the new Supply Terminal to hold specific goods you want to hold. It even has people working it dedicated to keeping that building full of the items you want it to hold. My most recent video covers that building in more detail :)
Thank you so much for these videos! I keep getting to a point where my settlers are starving even though I make more than enough food for them. I think it has to do with my supply lines and the transfer stations.
My pleasure! If you have food reserves and your people are still starving, then it may be possible its your logistics. But that should only be a problem is your settlement is really spread out. Like with multiple residential ares
thank you, but this video is severely outdated. lol. to learn more about how the logistics buildings work in the current version of Settlement Survival, check out my updated video :) ruclips.net/video/sJv6uhN4BYs/видео.html
I know a lot of time have passed since you uploaded the video but i have a question about the distance between a villager's home and his workplace, does it affect their productivity?
Yes. Home distance also affects work efficiency. Cus they have to walk home to eat and rest. So try to keep homes close to work places too. Also, sorry for lack of content. I've been keeping an eye the new updates and how they will effect the game. No point in making new content if an update will make things obsolete like this video. You can keep up with me on future content on my discord server. Link should be somewhere in the description or my channel if you're interested 🙂
Would a side by side situation work? I try for mixed environments outside the marketplace range, with raw materials as close to production as possible. Mix in warehouses. Then housing on the edge. The marketplace would be half it's diametre from there. I leave the marketplace as "downtoen with passive buff buildings across the street and in the area. It ends up looking a bit like a spoke. Who doesn't love distilleries with their own orchard and water source? I'm wondering about putting in both stations with storage in between. Would that work? Am I right in thinking that the transfer station would take from warehouses and supply stations? That they would then deliver them to the marketplace or other storage location outside their radius? The citizens in these two jobs seem like good candidates for hunger, thirst, and freezing.
Theres many layouts that work. Astrid and I build our settlements very differently. As long as things are close to each other and the flow of supply chains are smooth, your layout will work. A distillery can totally have their own grove and water source. it can even be farther away from marketplace as long as a transfer station is sending out items to storage close by to marketplaces. But hen again, there needs to be houses close to that distillery cus the workers need a place to rest. Once you understand the flow of logistics, you can have fun and come up with crazy layouts that work.
homes are the last step in a supply chain, since they are receiving the finished products. Homes should be close to jobs since thats where people go to rest, eat, drink, or warm up. less time walking, means more time working.
@@oVioletValkyriex So do homes in proximity to specific buildings impact happiness? I'm a Banished fan. There, being in proximity to certain buildings can be a real problem. Which? I like. Adds realizism
The only buildings that impact happiness are Churches, Police Stations, and Theaters (including Miao's Jingju) Ive also never played Banished. But Astrid (my partner) has :)
I have a question about stringing multiple transfer or supply stations together. will the worker at the supply/transfer station only take or place an item into a standard storage? or will they take them from eachother. can you direct which takes from which? is it limited to transfer station to storage, storage to supply, supply to delivery. or can I do transfer to transfer to supply to supply to delivery? or do you have to have a normal storage somewhere in the chain I'm finally coming back to this game since the trader update. I am using the center market axis as dedicated logistics and storage and am trying to understand the best way to get items across the map when it would require more than 1 string of transfer stations etc. can you do a video with only the associated buildings, their relative placements and the areas of effect?
first. this video uses old terminology. the supply stations are now called delivery terminal and center. the supply depot is a new building that wasnt in this video. transfer stations will take items to the closest warehouse/transfer station with space outside its blue zone. so make sure the building you want items to go there is that closest one delivery terminal/center do not take items into warehouses, the workers only bring those items directly to production buildings inside its coverage zone.
Transfer stations will only deliver to storages. Supply stations should retrieve from storage-like buildings, like Marketplaces, even transfer stations.
the small supply station, and supply station have been renamed to delivery terminal and center, respectively, but still function the exact same way. But the concept of supply chains and logistics remains the same.
@@bakerj3527 As the settlement grows, I expand to have multiple residential districts each with their own marketplace. I've never thought of using multiple marketplaces to cover the same homes though, since I believe having 8 vendors at the marketplace is enough to cover all houses. But who knows, I could be mistaken.
If you only knew how much the quality of your videos would benefit from like a $50 mic/headset instead of the potato you're using. Your explanations are great and your editing is solid. The sound would make a massive difference.
