Trained this sport in Poland for nearly 10 years... Then skated a little on and off with Sheffield team and Altrincham. It's a shame that this sport is still so unpopular along with Inline Speed Skating. We need more people to try this sport not only on ice but also on the road as an alternative to ordinary cycling, running etc.
I rollerbladed for a few years. Not olympic style or anything. Just went on races around my area back in korea. And your decision making is what i found really important. Since the guy pointed it out, i just wanted to say it... I do still ice skate
+Sirena Thanks for the reply. I've always loved watching speed skating but there was never enough coverage and then Short Track appeared on the media. It seems the sport of speed skating to the general public refers to Short Track now. What a pity, to watch in my opinion it is scrappy and messy, a free for all. Traditional Long Track is just beautiful to watch, so graceful. Just saying from an observers point of view. All the best.

Awesome! We need more videos like this on RUclips!

Team GB, so good we need to hire foreigners to do it for us.
Long Track so much better to watch. It would be nice to see a GB Long Track Speed Skater. But good luck to the GB Short Track team.
Do you think? I much prefer the short track. More action. :-)
+ChrisLynn68 We're (UK Long Track) skaters are out there. I'm one of the retired ones.

I dont understand the racing line... why dont they go wide on straights snd take the inside line on corners
they act like they are really good... and yet at 1:58 stopping like that is one of the worst things you can do to your blades.
SparrowKing they did it to look cool for the cameras
cool but which ice rinks in the UK can you learn this sport.
Near enough any that have hockey on. If you check the website out it gives you a search engine. I think the GB squad trains at Nottingham arena.

You can go on the GB Short Track website to find the clubs and rink locations
Is it just me or is that dude american
Or Canadian?
Born in Jo'burg with joint Canadian / British citizenship
***** Well Canada is part of the commonwealth I suppose.
+Benjamin Kennedy Shoebridge is Can/Brit.
Yank thinks he's English.
+ouncy Because he sounds American? He's originally from Ontario.
Sirena Oh okay. To me, he sounded like an American that has lived in the UK for a while. The accent makes sense now.
I'm quite sure his mum is British, and dad's Canadian. =)
