I wonder if you can break even, Rob. That's the ideal, if you can make the hobby/passion pay for itself by working the auctions. When I used to collect, I blew my wages on LPs, 45s, & books, week after week, year after year, most weeks visiting 10 Manchester 2nd-hand record shops & 3 stores for new records. A fortune! If I ever do buy another turntable set-up, I won;t go back to buying records: I'll just check out the old LPs I already have here from 30 or 40 years ago. That's enough for me now. But if I was young & collecting now, maybe I'd work the y/t angle with a channel to hold auctions hoping to sell enough records to pay for the ones I collect.
Nice finds, especially the dollar bin deals. The "secretary of funk" (secofunk) was one of the first VC video creators way back like 15 years ago. He always had cool videos.
Hey Rob ...I was just going to hit you up Decibel Music and ask you if you went. Then seen this video HAHA . So glad you had a good time. You found a lot of records and great to hear that the store opening was a success for Van and crew.
Awesome you were able to get to Decibel on opening day! They did such a good job building out the shop. Looks beautiful.
The search by Chico is so so good. No one talks about it really. What an epic and moving title track
That wall is crazy. Nice pickups
Nice. I need that Power of Soul.
Going to check them out soon!
Great video, also very nice to be one of the first to hit a record store opening. You got a lot of goodies.
Lots of Awesome Rob!. Trish
Thanks for the heads up on Decibel - went there today and grabbed a few great ones for very reasonable prices. This will be a regular stop for me!
Hope you enjoy it!
I went to Decibel twice this past week, great store. The owner Van has the secoffunk channel, excellent.
Blue Note black printing - first press, then went to blue.
Wow! Lots of killer stuff! Cool that you got to be there on the opening day and it being Black Friday!
DC in your blood. Store looks great 🎶
Nice score for Chris! 🎉

Sea of faces is one of my favorite Shepps
Same here! Song for Mozambique is incredible.
Decibel looks like a home run, hope to make it down there. Did you get to meet Vann at all aka SecoFunk?
Yes
