Excellent install, Rhino. Now once the Garmin Panoptix and Minnkota Ultrex Spot Lock trolling motor and Carnival King popcorn machine are installed you will be all set!!! 😊😊😊 All kidding aside, you have a very nice yak. Don
Minor concern that stern anchor rope could occasionally tangle with the rudder. YakGadget makes a nice pole anchor adapter that doubles as a stern anchor, you can mount in the same place you were gonna mount the mighty mount except mount a pair. Check out Chad Hoover’s location of his anchor wizard on the front gunnel for better access while standing. Since my pole set up is mechanical I was considering a second wizard to handle the stern just not quite sure if it’s overkill but positioning is a major part of kayak fishing or any fishing for that matter.
I've been really happy with it. I ended up buying a 6 lb downrigger weight for my anchor, and it's working great. I think I may just leave it off the front, and not install the chute on the back.
Nope! Didn't seem to interfere at all. Only thing is you have to be mindful that it's there when you set a rod down with a lure tied on, especially with trebles.
It's a great install with the bracket as an insert in the foam. Since you're unsure on the anchor might I recommend a Navy Anchor...It has 2 flukes & is hinged at the flukes. It's weighted + I'm also using a short section of heavy chain. The Grapple Anchor...good for hard lime rock....knot much on soft bottom. I use to use a 10 lb'r. but I found a 5 lb'r. at Dicks a few years ago which is just as effective. That Grapple has the potential to gouge the Yak. You might also want to consider 3M 5200 to seal & and bond the bracket to the gunnel on the Yak...FYI...I checked Dicks..They call it a Danielson Navy Anchor 12.99.....
Thanks for the tip Wes. I've been using the grapple anchor for 4 years or so in my local lake, the old fashioned way of deploying and retrieving hand over hand. The lake has a lot of vegetation and it's not uncommon to pull up 10 pounds of the stuff with the anchor. With that anchor out of reach either on the bow or stern, it's going to be a problem. Some have recommended a down-rigger weight. I may try that.
2 thumbs up for "Anchors Aweigh"! Funny how I still know all those words after marching through that tunnel at Great "Mistakes" during boot camp almost 20 years ago! Lol! Thumbs up if any other Navy Vet remembers that. I was in boot camp in 2001. Also great job with the flush mount the way you did by cutting the foot pad. Not gonna lie, I probably would have drilled through it all and mounted it. Your way is better. Soon enough sir I'll see you at the lake and we will fish. And I'll tell you all about how awesome my ship was compared to yours! 😂😉 Because CVN-71 USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT is the baddest ship in ANY fleet!
Helo guy. I only ever did a couple of CQ dets on TR. Deployed on America (CV-66) three times 89-92, Wasp (LHD-1) once 94-96, G. Washington (CVN-73) once -2000-2001. Many CQ dets on Kennedy, TR, Truman, Ike....
RhinoFishing TV awesome. On my 2 deployments and or work ups throughout the years, several (10+ sailors) went overboard for various reasons. In my time on TR, we lost none of them. Helo’s found em and brought them back. Longest one was a female at 2 am in the Persian Gulf. She was rescued 6 miles from the ship even though man overboard was called immediately. Super dark. Strong current. But she came back on a helo. Took 45 mins to find her, but find her they did. In a nasty place for a female American Sailor to be lost at the time.....
I've been using a 3 lb grapnel anchor for 4 years, just dropping it over the side and securing in a zig-zag cleat. It pulls up a ton of vegetation in my local lake, so not being able to reach it when I crank it up would be problematic. So I've ordered a 6lb downrigger weight, supposed to arrive today. Will give it a shot tomorrow.

I like that anchor wizard, never seen one before. I have an idea you may or may not like. Why not use it in conjunction with an anchor trolley? Then you could move it from bow to stern depending on the conditions you are fishing in. Just a thought!
Still the same way, off the front. Mainly because I've been too lazy to move it to the back or see if the rudder interferes. I would definitely like it better back there, I think.
You should replace the anchor with a kettle ball its round and wont get stuck. Plus rides alot nice on the front and domt have to worry about having the anchor spike deployed
Nice install, that should help tame that wind. I ran mine out the front as well, but I used a downrigger weight on mine. May have to get a rudder kit for mine eventually as well . Good stuff man.

I've started building the Rhino Robot/Cyborg/Surrogate that I will install to go fishing on my behalf, so I may sleep later on weekends :) Thanks Don!
Hahaha....an Alita...and Rhino Battle Angel!

Kettle ball or down rigger ball
Down rigger, 6lb I think. Working pretty well so far. I think I used a grapple type anchor in this vid, though.
Sweet install just did mine today on my bonafide cant wait to give it a try!

@@RhinoVenturesOutdoors did you notice any difference in paddling with the anchor in this video hanging off the front? Ran mine off the front as well

@@RhinoVenturesOutdoors The downrigger weights come in 5, 10. & winged designs...definitely no more dredging up the bottom...great alternative!!

Nice install, I was lazy and installed my tracks above the perch pads. I use an 8lb mushroom anchor and drop it off the front like you did.

RhinoFishing TV that’s exactly why I switched to the mushroom anchor I was dragging up too much grass.
Only a true sailor would play anchors aweigh! 😂😂 Great job Rhino!
Bill, you are a true YT friend if you stuck with the video long enough to hear that song play! Thanks!

I absolutely could, and probably should, do that. A lot of folks combine the two.
We always strive to find something to make fishing more convenient.
Looks like it will be very useful.
How are you running the anchor wizard now
Still the same way, off the front. Mainly because I've been too lazy to move it to the back or see if the rudder interferes. I would definitely like it better back there, I think.
RhinoFishing TV have you had any trouble with the anchor dragging the top of the water in the stowed position?

I've gone to a 6 pound down rigger weight since I shot this video and it's a lot easier to manage.
Did the wizard come with the bolts to mount to the mightymount ?
I believe so, yes.
Nice install buddy,
Thanks, Chris.
Great video! I have 2 eye bolts I want to use like you have. What are you sliding in the track to screw the ibolts onto?
These. www.amazon.com/YakAttack-GearTrac-Hardware-Assortment-HRC-1004/dp/B01KMHVMGG/ref=sr_1_6?crid=D1IPSF93XDLN&dchild=1&keywords=yak+attack+track+mount+accessories&qid=1590826116&sprefix=yak+attack+track%2Caps%2C147&sr=8-6
Can you use existing track to do this?
I guess you have to put a new track on for chute anyways but does it have to be that specific track?
Good tutorial man! It was funny when you dropped the anchor and played "Anchors Away!" Very cool!
Nice install, that should help tame that wind. I ran mine out the front as well, but I used a downrigger weight on mine. May have to get a rudder kit for mine eventually as well . Good stuff man.
Pretty good !
Nice installation dear just subbed let stay connected dear friend thanks
