Izzy Berbesía I really want to do a cosplay of one of the female Wakanda warrior, however, because I am very fair not too many people are on board with it even though I'm black. I want to do the cosplay because I loved how these women were portrayed. They inspired me but for most people, this isn't enough.

Honestly it's so good to see more cosplayers of color, it's hard to have to be shoved into a little box by elitists who think that we can only cosplay a very small ratio of characters. But that's why i'm gonna cosplay Junko Enoshima and Celestia Ludenburg from Danganronpa at Momocon this year.
I'm not racist but I'm glad to finally find atleast one comment on this entire video that isn't talking about her skin color and is actually thanking her for showing beginners how to start cosplaying
I hope that you love it! I'm only just getting in to it myself and I'm not good at online shopping so I'm just gona have my sister do it (she is the best at online shopping). My tip for cosplay is buy it if it doesn't leave you bankrupt and if it will try your best to make it, I suggest doing something more popular so there is an actual cosplay for it. I'm having trouble making a cosplay that doesn't exist on online... Wish me luck!
Thank you sooo much for this. I have always wanted to cosplay but I have always felt that skin color was a problem. But now I'm so going to make something soon

It's so great to see more cosplayers of color, this is my first time doing cosplay and i was very nervous and thought i could only do cosplays of characters who were also black, but i learned that isn't true, so thank you!!!! also i love your wig!
Nah! Life is too short. There are so many situations where I'm the token black girl (especially in Canada) and you learn to rub it off. Just be yourself. You're more than the colour of your skin.
I'm a different skin color than most characters are! So that you have the different color too, you taught me I could no matter what eye color or skin color!

At the convention, find an event or panel to attend about something you're interested in (e.g. a Korra/Avatar panel) and meet some people there. Introduce yourself to the panelists or someone next to you (or ask your sister to introduce both of you) so that way you can feel less alone. Anyways, you won't be alone. A lot of people are cosplaying for the first time too! I was actually thinking of making a video called, "How to Make a Korra Cosplay". I want to do a "How to Make a __ Cosplay" series. Would that be helpful to you?

I've always been interested in cosplay but I can never summon the gall to go out, search for cons near me, dress up, and attend. I'm very iffy about my size and I don't really like being around people much less groups. I guess it's just my introvert side kicking too much with the financial troubles.. this was a great video though!
I'm cosplaying for the first time this year! I'm really excited!! I'm going to be Deku, from My Hero Academia. This video really gave me the final boost of encouragement I needed to be sure about playing him! Thank you so much!!!!
It makes me happy seeing a cosplayer of color. I'm Mexican but I'm pale as hell but I also noticed that a lot of white people or of course, Asians cosplay. I was nervous about doing it honestly. Even though I'm not brown, I feel more confident cx thank you!
I have an aunt who makes clothing as a career. She told me about someone who ordered a medieval cloak. It was an expensive, and thick material that the customer provided. And my aunt said she’d teach me how to sew and creating costumes. So I’m super excited! I’ve only cosplayed once before in a small convention nearby.
BecomingTia Yeah! I’ll be cosplaying for the first time in a few months for a convention. And I’m really stressing. Of course, I don’t have the skills to create something from scratch yet. But I hope I’ll be able to reach that point to where I can in the future
I’m a cosplayer myself I have bought a lot of my cosplay well least two but I am going to say that I’m also black and I was so happy to see you at the top of the page. You’re literally the first thing that pops up on RUclips if you look up. “how to become a cosplayer?” 💕😭😭💕
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Dressing up and doing cospkays has always been at the back of my head. But most of the characters I've wanted to portray are white or asian and I'm black. It's really enouraging to find black people online who not only cosplays, but also cosplays characters who aren't black. Thank you so much for this video.
When I was young I used my natural hair instead of wigs. For example, I had super short brown hair, so I dressed up as Goth eleven from stranger things, and frisk from undertale! It's okay to use your natural hair! (Btw my next cosplay is Eri from my hero academia)
This helps so much! I’m still pretty young to start cosplaying since I have to finish my studies first but once I get my body in shape and probably when I get older, if I need to cosplay, these tips will really help me :3
i have been wanting to cosplay forever!! i'm a little older than the average group so i felt like i "missed my chance". your video is really helpful and encouraging!! i'm excited to get into my cosplay journey :) thanks
There is just something about this woman that makes me want to keep trying to cosplay Maybe it's just the enthusiasm and how much fun she looks like she has in the video
im really excited to start cosplaying, ive been wanting to do it for a few years but im finally starting my first cosplay soon, wraith from apex legends :)
This year I will be doing my first cosplay as Izaya Orihara genderblend version. This video gave some great tips, and has made me look into great detail from my charater. Thanks Tia 😊
TIPS! 1. If you have a school girl outfit u can use it for many other cosplays. 2. Lashes makes u look like a whole diff person! 3. If you can’t use contacts then eyeshadows is really nice for a substitute! 4. TAKE CARE OF YOUR WIGSSSSSSSS PEOPLE
Thanks this is super useful. I've been cosplaying for 10 years but you summed up everything I tell new people. Thanks for NOT telling people how to do it, I can't stand that stuff.
I'm going to a small cosplay thing in my country and I'm extremely nervous even right now my heart is pounding and you just got me pump up to make my costume
One of my cosplays is going to be Armin from AOT. I don't know what poses he would do even though he is my favourite charecter. And cant get any pics that help. Any advice or links to pis or something? Thanks bye.
Yes I get that a lot, but actually this wig is based off Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony. They have similar hair colours. I have to watch that show still!
I'm on a tight budget so I've always been doing closet cosplay. I love it when you have a piece of clothing that goes well or matches your character look. I've been trying to branch into more complex and self made costumes but due to budget constraints and not knowing how to make clothes from scratch is proving to be a real challenge.
Thank You soooooo much for this video, giving others with a darker skin color courage to Cosplay anyone that they want, 💕😭 I am also one of those people who thought they should not cosplay because of my skin but now i guess theres no stopping me ✌😊 thx a bunch ❤😘
i'm going to the anime midwest con on july 7th (which is also my birthday haha) & cosplaying as marshall lee from adventure time. it's gonna be my very first cosplay & con so i'm very very excited !!
I love that you pointed out that it's okay to buy your cosplay. I just bought my Rapunzel cosplay and I love it so much💜💜💜 it was very expensive but sooo with it!
This was some great help. I'm making a costume for tamaki amajiki, suneater, from my hero academia and I was watching this and I honestly didn't think about researching his eye color but now I'm going to. 😂 I loved the video thanks!
Because of quarantine I’m starting by getting wigs, basing an OC off of the wig and then cosplay as them. My brother got me an epic wig because it’s my birthday. I’m super excited
I know this is an extremely late comment but this video/these tips was so helpful. You seem so confident and this has helped me gain some when thinking about starting to cosplay.
I’ll be doing my first ever cosplay this year of Hawks from bnha (genderbend) life size mechanical red wings and all because I am crazy and overly ambitious
I’ve finally started to get into cosplay after years of wanting to and even though it’s closet cosplays at the moment and making funny little videos for myself I really do want to get more creative and make more out of it this video was really helpful and inspiring ❤
I just adore how this video was the first one recommended to me this morning after I claimed out loud in my room that I want to start cosplaying I love coincides!
I bought my first cosplay and it will be in the mail next week. I want to make sure I’m really into it before I go all in. I’m planning on sewing a Nana Shimura cosplay this summer!
My friend works at the Worbla company -- they have that booth at AN in the dealer's room. I know a few artists that specialize in the body paint and make up field. Ohhh, I suggest, somewhere, have hidden pockets in your cosplay so you can easily access money, phone, etc. As for commissions, I do that all the time -- we discuss via phone, texts, any way to contact each other before meeting up in person. I send as many picture references that I can with as many different angles as possible. From there, on our first meeting, she takes my measurements, i pay for her coffee :P. Depending on our own schedules, we then meet up at the fabric store using the references and the measurements and grab whatever materials needed for our second meeting. I pay for that. Then I pay for her services, and even tip her on a job well done after fitting and minor or quick adjustments :D
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I've wanted to cosplay for a while but Finland being Finland there's like 0 cons, and the ones that there are I can't attend. BUT NOT TODAY! In a month a con comes to my hometown and I'm itching to cosplay Alyx but had no idea on where to start. This video is a life saver!
Just try to find version of England's outfit that isn't too expensive be wary, Hetalia cosplay can run up a lot of money... Though yes England would be a very easy one...
Ooh, a fellow Hetalian, I see! In the future, when I go to my first convention (my parents don't allow me right now, but I shall when I grow older), I'd probably cosplay as a Hetalia character too. I'm not so sure on who though. I was thinking Nyo! Japan because she kind of looks like me, but the problem is my height doesn't really suit her, and I'm too broke. I still hope I'll be able to though!
Thank you for giving me the confidence to cosplay this upcoming January. I was looking around on other videos, and there was a lot of bashing towards closet cosplays. Im still a child, so I don't feel comfortable with buying a full on cosplay or making one from scratch. You are such an inspiration and must really be getting lots of people to join the community!
Thanks I can’t believe I didn’t think about other commissioners who are probably better professionally then people who give costumes at a krap costume shop or something

i ordered my first cosplay 2 days ago and it was $41. I cant wait to become Todoroki!!!!!
How did it go?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Dressing up and doing cospkays has always been at the back of my head. But most of the characters I've wanted to portray are white or asian and I'm black. It's really enouraging to find black people online who not only cosplays, but also cosplays characters who aren't black. Thank you so much for this video.
When I was young I used my natural hair instead of wigs. For example, I had super short brown hair, so I dressed up as Goth eleven from stranger things, and frisk from undertale! It's okay to use your natural hair! (Btw my next cosplay is Eri from my hero academia)
Yeah, it is ;) I personally just prefer the flexibility and cartoonish look of cosplay wigs.
This helps so much! I’m still pretty young to start cosplaying since I have to finish my studies first but once I get my body in shape and probably when I get older, if I need to cosplay, these tips will really help me :3
I’ve already planned 3 characters and done two but it’s been a long time and I wasn’t super happy with the result. This is super helpful
I think I'm going to cosplay as Alois Trancy~
FangirlOfFandoms MY ALOIS COSPLAY IS ALMOST DONE :D
FangirlOfFandoms SAME... or Finny
Cool!!
i have been wanting to cosplay forever!! i'm a little older than the average group so i felt like i "missed my chance". your video is really helpful and encouraging!! i'm excited to get into my cosplay journey :) thanks
imagine if Michael Jackson was an anime character he would've been so beautiful 😍
This made me imagine it. I googled it. The anime-style drawings of him are beautiful.
BecomingTia yes they're 😍😍God bless his soul
He was in Survival Gun Club! Just a glimpse.
I'm from the future, search for Muzan from Kimetsu no Yaiba. Heehee lmao
Watch kimetsu no yaiba (demon slayer) he is in there!
There is just something about this woman that makes me want to keep trying to cosplay
Maybe it's just the enthusiasm and how much fun she looks like she has in the video
im really excited to start cosplaying, ive been wanting to do it for a few years but im finally starting my first cosplay soon, wraith from apex legends :)
i know i’m late for this video but thank you! i started cosplaying and i feel inspired by you! thankksss
This year I will be doing my first cosplay as Izaya Orihara genderblend version. This video gave some great tips, and has made me look into great detail from my charater. Thanks Tia 😊
Omg DRRR!!!! I'm excited. Send it to me when you're done! I'd love to see a genderbent or "Genderblend" - is that new?
+BecomingTia Sure, and my phone autocorrected it to genderblend. Thanks for replying 😄
TIPS!
1. If you have a school girl outfit u can use it for many other cosplays.
2. Lashes makes u look like a whole diff person!
3. If you can’t use contacts then eyeshadows is really nice for a substitute!
4. TAKE CARE OF YOUR WIGSSSSSSSS PEOPLE
Yesss! I wish I knew how to put on lashes.
Thanks this is super useful. I've been cosplaying for 10 years but you summed up everything I tell new people. Thanks for NOT telling people how to do it, I can't stand that stuff.
Thank you I am cosplaying Belle from Beauty and the Beast and excited for it.
I'm going to a small cosplay thing in my country and I'm extremely nervous even right now my heart is pounding and you just got me pump up to make my costume
I'm cosplaying sans 4 halloween this year and I'm gonna be frisk for comic con next year
***** ya
I am going as Purple Girl from five night in anime
foxy gamer lovely
What!? I am not going inappropriate style. YESH!
Or I am going as Fun Time Freddy!
Ok but you are SLAYING the twilight wig ! An amazing
Color for you!!
Okay I’m late, so basically you’re inspiring af
Like literally you are amazing and you need more subscribers .
I am going to cosplay Toph for Comicon next year and this has been super helpful! Thanks!
Yay, Toph!!!!!! Avatar fan?
One of my cosplays is going to be Armin from AOT. I don't know what poses he would do even though he is my favourite charecter. And cant get any pics that help. Any advice or links to pis or something? Thanks bye.
TWILIGHT SPARKLE WIG!?! NOW I'M MOTIVATED! I always wanted to cosplay as someone from my little pony
Have you ever cosplayed Stocking from Panty and Stocking? Your wig reminds me of that character...
Yes I get that a lot, but actually this wig is based off Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony. They have similar hair colours. I have to watch that show still!
+BecomingTia I thought it looked like twilight's hair. It looks great!
@@BecomingTia Oooooo, can you please cosplay Sakura and Nezuko?
I'm on a tight budget so I've always been doing closet cosplay. I love it when you have a piece of clothing that goes well or matches your character look.
I've been trying to branch into more complex and self made costumes but due to budget constraints and not knowing how to make clothes from scratch is proving to be a real challenge.
but I'll try to work around it. 😀
Thank You soooooo much for this video, giving others with a darker skin color courage to Cosplay anyone that they want, 💕😭 I am also one of those people who thought they should not cosplay because of my skin but now i guess theres no stopping me ✌😊 thx a bunch ❤😘
Three years later here I am trying to find confidence in these times to become a Black cosplayer...thank you I was given confidence
i'm going to the anime midwest con on july 7th (which is also my birthday haha) & cosplaying as marshall lee from adventure time. it's gonna be my very first cosplay & con so i'm very very excited !!
My heart rate started to increase. My birthday is July 7th as well!!!
Lol im going too!!
crowntheaj a hhhhh I'm going too >>:000 Hello fellow frens
samufleur, do you have an Instagram?
yos!! its the same as my name here lol
I love that you pointed out that it's okay to buy your cosplay. I just bought my Rapunzel cosplay and I love it so much💜💜💜 it was very expensive but sooo with it!
That's great Emily! You should check out my mom on Instagram @misscypriana. She cosplays as Anna from Frozen for her side hustle.
Omg tysm I really wanna cosplay so I'm going to start now :D
This was some great help. I'm making a costume for tamaki amajiki, suneater, from my hero academia and I was watching this and I honestly didn't think about researching his eye color but now I'm going to. 😂 I loved the video thanks!
I love her attack on titan shirt❤️
Thank you!
Im just starting to get into cosplay, i got makeup but i haven't gotten to wigs yet. But this helped me a lot! Thank you so much!
Thanks for the great information this really helped for my first cosplay
Because of quarantine I’m starting by getting wigs, basing an OC off of the wig and then cosplay as them. My brother got me an epic wig because it’s my birthday. I’m super excited
I love you and your videos! You are so positive and fun, not to mention informative! Thank you!
Thank you for that! I really want each video to be informative when I don't do a random vlog. :D
I love this! It's not my first time cosplaying at all but I love videos like these because sometimes I get brand new tips that help me grow.
love your shirt!!
I love your profile pic.
Sie sind das Essen und wir sie die Jäger.
Christina Crazay thank you! and I LOVE attack on titan and death note!
NightcoresAndNoodles best name and profile pic 10/10
I'm only 12 but I really want to be a cosplayer when I grow up! This gives me confidence that I can do it. Thank you!
I'm 13 and I'm going to my first convention this year :)
Brand new to cosplay so very inspired! Thank you for the tips I'll be sure to ply that to my first attempt!
Yay! I'm glad this inspired you. You'll enjoy the process. If you have any questions let me know.
I’ve finally started to get into cosplay after years of wanting to and even though it’s closet cosplays at the moment and making funny little videos for myself I really do want to get more creative and make more out of it this video was really helpful and inspiring ❤
Thanks for this video! I’m an 11 year old brown girl, so I’m not the most confident in cosplay, and these tips are really helpful!
I just adore how this video was the first one recommended to me this morning after I claimed out loud in my room that I want to start cosplaying
I love coincides!
They're watching you, haha.
i knew i should have subscribed. You are amazing! and helpful!!
Aww thanks for subscribing love!
OMG hello! :D and you are welcome!!
I bought my first cosplay and it will be in the mail next week. I want to make sure I’m really into it before I go all in. I’m planning on sewing a Nana Shimura cosplay this summer!
I'm doing Ochako Uraraka! This video was really helpful, thanks for the amazing content! Also, who else heard The Fat Rat music in the background?
The Fat Rat is sooo good.
@@BecomingTia IKR!!!
hi! i just want to say that i’m in LOVE with your shirt !
And Tia, you just have that natural beauty going on. Very important for cosplay imo.
Aww, thanks.
BecomingTia So welcome, love☺️
Nice!
"If you have a friend use them" lmao I was dying
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I've wanted to cosplay for a while but Finland being Finland there's like 0 cons, and the ones that there are I can't attend. BUT NOT TODAY! In a month a con comes to my hometown and I'm itching to cosplay Alyx but had no idea on where to start. This video is a life saver!
my display is going to be easy I wanna do england from hetalia
Rosette loveday hello fellow hetalia fan!
Just try to find version of England's outfit that isn't too expensive be wary, Hetalia cosplay can run up a lot of money... Though yes England would be a very easy one...
I'm GonNa Be nYO pRusSia foR MY FIRSTR COSPLAY
YEET
I will be Belarus or Sealand
Thank you for this! I'm gonna be cosplaying as a Creepypasta called Ticci Toby soon so this helped so much!
I luv your hair 🌌
I want to cosplay a my hero academia gen 2 original character which is nice cause i can completely design them and make my own characterisation
I'm not interested in cosplay, but I saw this thumbnail in the related videos, and I just had to tell you I love your hair.
ONION AND BANANA JUICE
Sua Lee MY CABBAGES
*CHIIICKKEENNNNN SSSTTRRRRIIIPPPSSSSS*
you’re literally so pretty omg
omg you're so sweet
I was taught to sew in school and I still cant do it
So you know
I just buy already made clothes and hot glue everything together xD
Thanks I can’t believe I didn’t think about other commissioners who are probably better professionally then people who give costumes at a krap costume shop or something
I'm gonna cosplay leafyishere
Go get rid of your chin then xD
@@TechnoBot17 thats rude no
@@GrianyBunch maybe, but it's also for the memes
@@TechnoBot17 but that can seriously tear down somebody's self esteem
@@hanako-kungacha2836 it would, if I wasn't cracking the joke at a public figure aka leafy.
Considering the chin thing was overused to death due to the content cop episode made on him, I highly doubt my words hold any actual power because it's an overused insult that turned into a meme.
Also it's not like i'm commenting this on a leafy video, it's a video completely unrelated to leafy and I highly doubt he's gonna see my comment and feel hurt by it
Seriously, you're a life saver! I was trying to find ways to make a cosplay outfit from stuff laying around, plus what i need to get...
You're amazing and this video is what I needed!!!
I've cosplayed a few times and even cosplayed as my ocs I wanna do it more tho because Ive stared watching more anime lol
Thank you so much! I'm cosplaying Vivi from One Piece at a con in May, and it's my first cosplay. This has been so helpful!
Can you cosplay a character from your own book/manga/ or movie? Cuz Im making a manga and really want to make a cosplay character from my manga.
So helpful thank you! I've been trying to start cosplaying
I'm planning on cosplaying as Deku from My Hero Academia c:
I'm doing that for Halloween
I'm so hyped to cosplay at Oz Comic con again next year. This year was my first time and I had one of the best times of my life. I'm making sure to save LOTS of money this time. I underestimated how much everything would cost.
I’m not sure if I should be Deku, Eri, Froppy, or Toga. Does anyone have any suggestions? And I really love your vid! Very helpful 💖💖💖💝💝💝💝
What about denki uwu
F***in froppy obviusley beat charecter
