    About 90% of badminton injuries are ankle related. Badminton apparel's companies need to start makin shoes with ankle support more common

    • @kuhelmigaming9111
      @kuhelmigaming9111 3 месяца назад

      They do. It's just you (everyone) needs to pick the right shoes. It doesn't matter what color. It has to be comfortable.

    • @reivilore
      @reivilore 24 дня назад

      I disagree. Locking the ankle in a support will weaken it and make injuries even more common. We need to take biomechanics into account and allow stabilising muscles to work. The real problem is thick soles under shoes that allow the ankle to roll off them. The sole should be as thin as possible to prevent ankle rolling, yet thick enough to make the large amount of lunges non-irritating to the heel.

    Thanks for the video 😊
    I've been struggling with some knee pain due to inflamation on the tendons.
    And as it has taken some months to develop, it also takes months to recover.
    My doctor says to just go with what feels good, but relieve seems to be most important part
    with taking the inflammation off.
    Well, tbh it has come to quite a fortunate time since the pandemic does not allow me to play anyways.
    But lesson learned after this. Especially if you have not played badminton for your whole life, taking too much load
    is not a good strategy and foam rolling and stretching are one of the most neglected parts of improving your game.
    Since better recovery -> less stress on your joints -> more time you can play without worrying about injuries 💪

    I do think the Shoulder part is missing some really important information here. Instead of saying; do shoulder strengtening exercises" you should tell them to avoid doing weird cross swings over their head (to make up for a lacking backhand) and to WARM UP properly. THat means making circles with your arms spread out wide, 10 forwards and 10 backwards. Do shoulder rotations every day to keep them warm and make sure to use proper technique especially when smashing or clearing. That means full swing towards the lower body (cross) and then making sure you dont stop mid-way in your swings.
    I've played professionally for a couple of years and my shoulder was the issue that forced (yes forced) me to quit. It was completely torn and destroyed. Now, 10 years later, I can enjoy 1 night a week of pain free badminton but if I push it too hard and get too reckless, I feel it instantly.

    Great video. Love it. I have occasional/regular Bursitis in my shoulder. Things I have been doing are, losing weight, strengthening shoulders, and improving overall fitness and strength to prevent/reduce hits in awkward positions. Thought I do understand Bursitis can also be caused by overuse/ageing or sudden increase in intensity of your regular play.

    I have got the fat pat issue too :( Been playing badminton for more than 10 years but the problem only started early this year when after each play I feel pain underneath the front of my right kneecap - sometimes even struggled with walking. Been doing some more quads, glutes, hamstrings strengthening exercises during lockdowns. Really hope it will recover soon.

    • @BadmintonInsight
      @BadmintonInsight  4 года назад +3

      Not a nice one! ☹️ Unfortunately our GB physio recommended to me that rest is the best treatment as the 'fat pad' protects your knee, so it will take time to reduce the inflammation. Rest and then icing regularly! Hope you get better soon 🙏🏼

      @@BadmintonInsight Thanks so much for your reply, Greg/ Jenny. Really appreciated :p
      When I was volunteering at Birmingham YAE in March I had a quick chat and 'test' session with one of the physio's supporting Chinese Team - that's my first time I heard of 'fat pad' and it was his advice for me to do strengthening and flexibility exercises around quads, glutes and hamstrings. I got the similar advice from my GP two months ago. Actually I have been doing some at-home simple ones like wall sit, calf raises, etc. for many years. Since lockdown I have been doing some more trying to balance up front/ back legs.

    Nice video !!
    When I was younger I played a lot of basketball, American football, soccer and ice hockey, I rolled my ankle all of the time playing those sports and I hurt my knee playing soccer.
    I have had no Injuries playing badminton, which is another reason why I love the sport. I think if you have a balanced weight training session along with reasonable form most people ( outside of pros ) should be able to play badminton for many many years without a serious injury. What I personally do is try to counter what badminton does to my body and use a balanced weight program to do that. Badminton like most sports is a very quad dominant sport. So
    Making sure that you strengthen your hamstrings and glutes are very important. Also because of how a swing works , I think it’s important to do a good amount of back work , especially upper back work and rear delt work. Although these exercises may not make you improve you game they probably will allow you to play a lot longer and harder with a less chance of getting injured

    Eye injuries are life changing so I rather show good sportsmanship than win a game. I don't see enough sports education about eye injuries. I wear sport goggles. Most people believe impact resistant eyewear is not necessary for sports; even after recovering from temporary vision loss. Example: turning around to see partner thus getting hit by a racquet or a shuttlecock. Seen too many accidents & some people playing recklessly without care for their opponent. Intentionally, aiming for opponent's face. (I don't understand that.) Eye injuries are life changing. Few people refuse to acknowledge I must wear glasses to see. 🤦‍♂️People get mad I refuse to switch to contacts & not wear my goggles. It is somehow unfair my eyes are protected & his is not. 🤦‍♂️He says he will hit me in the eye all he wants. Also I should start the match at minus 10 and not be permitted to hit smashes into his side of the court. When "threats" are made I calmly walk away & report to the front desk. Usually they get more mad because I refuse to play any more future matches against them.

    Hello guys, thanks again for your awesome videos. My wife enjoys playing badminton. But I am bit worried about her play. She gained some extra weight post her pregnancy and I am worried that she shouldn't develop any complications such as Prolapse. Do you have any suggestions on how women should differentiate their play from mens style of playing. What are the don't. Especially, for middle aged women. If you can post some women centric badminton tips. It would be of great help. Also please suggest some good exercise routines to be followed.

    • @BadmintonInsight
      @BadmintonInsight  3 года назад

      Hmmm great question! The main differences between the mens & women's game is that the mens is generally played at a higher pace (with fast/flat exchanges) whereas the women's game involves more clears and drops. This means that your wife should focus more on her endurance, especially if she is just getting back into playing. So we would suggest some CV-based exercises as a good starter (but be careful of overdoing it!). Hope this helps!

    I want to ask a question 🙋
    What happens when a partner gets injured in mens double?
    Can we change the player to let the game on Or the opponent gets the game as the player is not able to play

    And the pain was too much I can't even hold by racquet and I have to gave up
    And after somedays the pain had gone and after 6 months I was playing badminton
    And suddenly the same thing again happened and after 3 or 4 days ita got away
    Now what to do means how to prevent this happening again in future

    • @BadmintonInsight
      @BadmintonInsight  3 года назад

      Try loosening off the muscles around your peck & shoulder. And also this means your using your bicep too much in your smash, rather than the back of your shoulder- so try thinking about this in your technique 👍🏼

      And if you are having the same problem as me so I can assume that you are also a hard hitter just like me. So I would suggest you to improve your stance and smashing techniques coz I also had a lot of errors in my technique which I later got to know from my seniors. After correcting them I have improved a lot in my game and I feel much comfortable while playing.

      One way to improve your power is to work on your shoulder strengthening. If smashing is hurting your arm, that often means that your shoulder is weak and your arm is being used too much to try and generate some power.
      Here is a video we made on shoulder strengthening which can be great for improving your power 💪🏼 ruclips.net/video/avLKEV7xOjM/видео.html
