It's amazing seeing a comedians early roots, especially someone like Brian Regan who is now an absolutely premier headliner. One of the best, box office comedians of all-time, with a clean act that appeals to just about everyone.
I couldn't agree more. More like Red Skelton or Seinfeld, for that matter. He gets the laughs for being funny HIMSELF, not off of "potty humor" the likes of many others who dwell on 4 letter words to milk their audiences for laughs. That stuff gets old and tired - and unfunny. Now Jerry Lewis was not a stand up comic, but his humor depended on him being funny HIMSELF. Maybe I'm old school, but that's how I feel about it. Anyone agree?
@David Roberts Brian Regan is anything but retired, but I'm sure that, you must have already spent the 2 minutes that were required to thoroughly research your comments, before telling other people, that they know absolutely nothing. Brian regan already has at least 40 shows booked through June of this year. He typically tours non-stop, visiting about 100 cities per year to mostly sold out crowds, that occasionally reach as large as 15,000 people. He will most likely be adding more shows later in the year. Although Brian's bread and butter has alway been stand up, he still does some acting. In 2020, will be reprising his role on Audience Network show called Loudermilk, which airs on Direct TV. Just because he's not churning out a dozen TV appearances per year, that doesn't that mean he's washed up or semi-retired.
He certainly improved over the years and has gained a well deserved reputation as one of the greatest stand-up comedians of all time. Clips like this should inspire new comedians to never give up. Everyone starts somewhere.
i feel like Brian Regan is like a test, like you're trying not to laugh as if you don't want to like him like most-standups, but he always seems to get you. One of the best.
It's interesting to see how his delivery has gotten better over the years. He uses alot of the same material later in his career but slows it down a tad.
Saw this when I was 14 on HBO, instantly became my favorite comedian. I was lucky to have taped this on my vhs. So happy he’s still doing it and is as great as he’s ever been!
He doesn’t do the same routine. He’s known for how much new material he always has. This is ancient stuff he’ll occasionally do at encores when people request the bits specifically.
One of my favorite moments in college...my computer teacher walks in with, in her words, "a boxen of computer parts." We got nothing else done that day hahaha!
I loved it! I'm a big fan and this is the earliest work I've seen yet. Thanks for keeping it alive - at least it's gone digital so the quality won't have to suffer anymore!
This is so awesome that you added this; I have this 2nd Annual Aspen Comedy Festival......that I video taped, then converted to DVD, and always made everyone that came over watch it. Brian and Mario Joyner are hilarious. I wondered for years what had happened to Brian then in the early 2000's I heard him being interviewed on a Fox sports radio program; I caught it right in the middle and thought this guy's very funny then the radio host says this is comedian Brian Regan! I was very thrilled about that and so happy that his career was about to really take off. Great and entertaining talent that the whole family can enjoy!!!!! Of course, I had a "Brian Regan Moment" when I went to try to find this from HBO, I contacted them and was very frustrated that no one could help me find the 2nd Annual Aspen Comedy Festival that was in my mind "definitely" on HBO........the only problem was it was actually a Showtime program! Nobody look at me, I'm a moron!!!
Hard to believe this Miami native played wide receiver at Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio, and had to compete in stand-up comedy with his older brother Dennis. The first time he blew me away with his comic delivery was his 1992 appearance on Dennis Miller's late-night talk show. After watching his performance, Miller said exactly what I was thinking, "Brian, that was the funniest 5 minutes I've ever seen on television."
Brian Regan is my favorite comedian. He has takes that are relatable to everyday life. A very unique warp of the real, that is so funny because it always rings true.
Some people start out with some funny material and that's as good as it ever gets. Brian didn't really have it back then. He is a great example of someone who worked on his craft and 25 years later is one of the funniest comedians around.
I was at the Laugh Factory in LA right when the Seinfeld show hit it big (I think this was just when they were winning their Emmy for the Pony Remark episode). Jerry Seinfeld walks in and takes over the stage for a surprise set. The place went NUTS. Years later, in 1997, when the show was winding down, the same thing happened: I was at the Improv (I think this was on Santa Monica Boulevard), and all of a sudden, Seinfeld walks in and does this surprise set. He had a piece of paper, and he mumbles, "ok... so... this is some stuff that... might make it into the show, I'd like to try out..." in the same tone of voice you'd use if you woke up at 3:30 a.m. And he delivered the whole set in this same tone of voice. He didn't even look at the audience. But the content of the set was so hilarious that he still killed.
SOOO glad you posted this. I've been looking for recordings of this show for years. We recorded the showtime airing on VHS as well. Eventually the tape went missing. Our family have most of the show memorized we watched it so much. I have to admit though I've forgotten the name of the comedian with the material about traveling and translation. "...like I couldntve made that up..."
In German you pronounce it by the second letter. So if it's ei, you would make an i sound, if it's ie, you would make an e sound. So idk lol. Since German class I always went with that
If you watch interviews where he talks about creating material and then honing it by watching how well it does over and over, you know how he got from who he is here to the comedian he is today. Good material plus persistent revision.
He was lucky to have made it through the legendary "Forest of skis" only found in Colorado. The funniest comic of all time being introduced by the second funniest. What a moment. Now I've got to go eat a couple of boxen of doughnuts.
Uncjim, I rather find this early bit equal to what he's doing now. Notice, this bit is not as politically correct (blast!) as what he does now (thanks to our politically correct bent this society is on now - but I digress) but it still works. I was LOL even with this early stuff. Still my favorite comedian.
I remember watching this same show way back in '90. Great fucking times. Thanks for reminding me of my wonderful childhood. I love Regan, funny as hell.
I used to pastor a church in the country. A lot of our neighbors had dogs. For fun I would go outside the church and just bark. From the distance you could hear a bunch of dogs start barking. Good times.
Playing dumb and working clean is one of the most difficult things any comedian can attempt. The only guy who has been able to do that up until Regan was obviously the most recognizable person in the world of television series: Jerry Seinfeld of course was the most popular successful comedian, actor (?); writing partner of Larry David who was also incredibly gifted with his own work as himself in Curb Your Enthusiasm too. Brian Regan’s best performance had convinced Me that he was gonna be one of the greatest of all time 🐐 💕 I love that man, but Jerry should’ve known better than to get himself into a jam when he voiced his own opinion on Israel despite his own heritage; because no matter which way you go on this topic? Honestly it’s just one of those things that ya can’t win at either way my friend! ❤
this is great because you can hear Jerry & Brian after talking...how'd i do? your whole life's work is judged by a 10-15 min performance on a given night. he did a lot of this material later on...why keep some and not others? this landed OK...but he perfected it later on. tough gig! few appreciate the WORK these players put in...
I too walked into a spider web and my husband came out to our porch and saw me flipping out. He asked, what are you doing and I said dancing. That's exactly what it looked like. Truth be told I was fighting the biggest web I had ever walked into. And I'm assuming the proper sized spider that matched the web! HORRIBLE!!!
At the beginning I almost stopped watching the video because I thought it was another comedian that was also named brian regan until I heard his material.
His politically incorrect bit on the news anchors speaking with Spanish and Chinese accents was hysterical, but he could never get away with performing it in 2019. Shame, cause it was funny as hell.
It's very interesting to see Jerry. It's interesting to see Brian....oh wait! There's no sound!! Been like this for a couple of years now. Please fix it.
I've always loved this guy its awesome to see him way back in his career like this. I might be the only thinking this but with that hair style if he turns just right he kinda favors jim carey a bit. That's just me though lol
It's amazing seeing a comedians early roots, especially someone like Brian Regan who is now an absolutely premier headliner. One of the best, box office comedians of all-time, with a clean act that appeals to just about everyone.
Agreed! One of my favorites now!
I love the fact that he hasn't felt the need to add "foul" language to keep up with others. He, Seinfeld and Gaffigan stand out.
I couldn't agree more. More like Red Skelton or Seinfeld, for that matter. He gets the laughs for being funny HIMSELF, not off of "potty humor" the likes of many others who dwell on 4 letter words to milk their audiences for laughs. Brian Regan? Isn't his brother a comedian? (Tee hee Lol)
He certainly improved over the years and has gained a well deserved reputation as one of the greatest stand-up comedians of all time. Clips like this should inspire new comedians to never give up. Everyone starts somewhere.
Brian Regan and Jim Gaffigan are my two favorite comedians. He definitely has perfected his act; still was very funny back in the day.
Ford Christensen Mine too!!!!!!!! Cant get enough of them
Bill Engvald is my favorite comedian but Brian is close second.
In the same
i feel like Brian Regan is like a test, like you're trying not to laugh as if you don't want to like him like most-standups, but he always seems to get you. One of the best.

*a lot
His delivery on Somethings wrong with the Regan boy was great, you could tell he was just a bit off here but still hilarious.
Better, better timed, slower, less exagerate/explaining the joke too much, he is my fav
Stellar use of RUclips! Thanks from another Brian Regan fan. His brother is a funny stand up too.
Brian is funnier then his brother
Saw this when I was 14 on HBO, instantly became my favorite comedian. I was lucky to have taped this on my vhs. So happy he’s still doing it and is as great as he’s ever been!
His ability to find the perfect wording in jokes is second to none.
I cant believe hes still doing the same routine from the 80’s.... his special was great tho love the guy
I actually love the VHS "quality" for this! Takes me back to my early high school days!!!
I loved it! I'm a big fan and this is the earliest work I've seen yet. Thanks for keeping it alive - at least it's gone digital so the quality won't have to suffer anymore!
Wow this is amazing I didn’t even know Brian Regan was around back in 1990 I just started listening to him when I got SiriusXM 15 years ago!!
Wowww look at that hair! Thanks for uploading this. He was the funniest back then he's still the funniest now.
One of the greatest comedians of all time. Up there with Rickles and Seinfeld.
This is so awesome that you added this; I have this 2nd Annual Aspen Comedy Festival......that I video taped, then converted to DVD, and always made everyone that came over watch it. To this day, I always think of "you too!" when I go to a restaurant
Brian deserves a sitcom.
+sjchun79 But only if HE writes the script.
+sjchun79 I bet he's gotten offers to do a sitcom
Yessss
My right ear really enjoyed this.

Why Brian had never had a TV series is “ inexsplicable
Thufferin succotath!
only legends know this reference

is a great example of someone who worked on his craft and 25 years later is one of the funniest comedians around.
He was hilarious then and now he’s hysterically funny.
Yeah, sorry but I'm blown away how polished his act was even back then. Rare@@elizabethwalton972

He’s flipping hilarious! 😂
Jeremiah Alan have tickets to his concert in June ! Pretty excited to go !
thank you for posting , he is one of favorites.
my right ear enjoyed this. old video though, still great :)
Thank you for posting this. I love this guy.
Love the VHS tracking errors. Very authentic! Only kidding of course. Love Brian!
2:45 Great non-PC newscaster jokes! Brian one of the all-time best IMO.
i remember watching him back then and not liking him for some reason, sadly, now i can't wait to see his stuff, he's one of the best.
He's sure changed a lot. Even his voice sounds different. Would not have recognized him.
His walk and posture the same.
Yes you're right but most people look and sound different after 30 years.
Cuz he was a baby then!!!😂
I definitely get '90s Seinfeld and '90s Ron White vibes from this bit.
The funny thing about Brian is his sense of humor.
SOOO glad you posted this. I've been looking for recordings of this show for years. We recorded the showtime airing on VHS as well. Eventually the tape went missing. One of my all time favorites.
HOLY MOLY* IM IN TEARS LOL
keepin it clean for brian regan
ChaserTree
HELL YEAH HOLY FUCKING SHIT YOUR RIGHT!
I before E except in Seinfeld.
Random thought but why in the world is it not pronounced Sanefeld haha
Funnier, that we at this part as I was reading the comments
In German you pronounce it by the second letter. So if it's ei, you would make an i sound, if it's ie, you would make an e sound. So idk lol. Since German class I always went with that
@Quentin 33 I saw what you did there. Nicely played.
He's super attractive - even when he's older.
Yes he is handsome🤙🏻😄
That's amazing -- I must have seen this back in 1990. I remembered a lot of the bits, but didn't remember whose material it was!
haha i started this video and im like "that sounds like Jerry not Brian what the heck" lol
If you watch interviews where he talks about creating material and then honing it by watching how well it does over and over, you know how he got from who he is here to the comedian he is today. Good material plus persistent revision.
business in the front, party in the back
It is always interesting watching his earlier work after seeing these jokes perfected in their later forms.
Classic walk down memory lane with the mullet and Miami Vice zoot suit.
He was lucky to have made it through the legendary "Forest of skis" only found in Colorado.
The funniest comic of all time being introduced by the second funniest. What a moment.
Now I've got to go eat a couple of boxen of doughnuts.
Very interesting to see how he's developed his craft. Today, I find him hilarious. Back then, with some of the same material, not so much.
No I think it was quite amazing that Brian had som if the same material back then. He's an a,aging comedian! Just amazing!
The jokes come off better as an old man
Uncjim, I rather find this early bit equal to what he's doing now. Notice, this bit is not as politically correct (blast!) as what he does now (thanks to our politically correct bent this society is on now - but I digress) but it still works. I was LOL even with this early stuff. Still my favorite comedian.
It's amazing how even back then he knew about fake news.
I didn’t realize the bass player of Duran Duran was so funny 😆
There are three comedians I can watch over and over. Brian Regan, Norm Macdonald, and Mitch Hedberg.
All dead guys
@@jeffreymorris4827 Brian Regan is very much alive.
Meese eating greese in the woodsen. I laughed so freaking hard
1990 Brian Regan is too damn good looking to convincingly pull off the self-effacing everyman with the same success as his later self.
Can't get over how thin he was back then. And very funny even then.
This is adorable! It was before Brians' voice changed! Not to mention the mullet!!
Dude! I remember you! Feel old now.
Funny stuff. Brian has definitely gotten better with age. Too bad when you can count the clean comedians on one hand
wow, he was so cute back then!
Darla Jeanice quite the hairdo!
This is fucking incredible. A comedy gem
best comedian ever!!!!!
the flock of many much moosen with the meese in the woodsen eatingenisen greesen in the woodsen...
I remember watching this same show way back in '90. Great fucking times. Thanks for reminding me of my wonderful childhood. I love Regan, funny as hell.
Imagine going to school with one of these guys. You'd learn NOTHING but you'd have the best time doing it..
First time I watched Brian Regan was in college. Professor wanted to loosen up the mood. She played the fig newton bit.
watched the whole thing. no sound (right speaker broken). still funny reading the cc!
He definitely got way better over the years.....
How come the sound of this video is not in stereo?
Because it wasn't recorded in stereo... isn't that obvious?
Can you upload the entire comedy festival? It was great. Wish I still had my copy.
Oh man thr beijing killlllllllled me again. Maximum laughter tears
No wonder so many comedians say Brian is "state of the art."
This guy shoulda made movies
my left ear just stopped working
Video got kinda messed up there in the end, huh! Kinda like one of those 1950's televisions with the coat hanger antenna.
I used to pastor a church in the country. A lot of our neighbors had dogs. For fun I would go outside the church and just bark. From the distance you could hear a bunch of dogs start barking. Good times.

How do I get this goodness in me!!
Can anyone tell me where I can find that clip.
Follow this link here: ruclips.net/video/V427yQwrBug/видео.html ;)
aahhhh, vhs in sd. now those were the days
I love his clothes. Such style.
His politically incorrect bit on the news anchors speaking with Spanish and Chinese accents was hysterical, but he could never get away with performing it in 2019. Shame, cause it was funny as hell.
can you imagine how weird it would have been to have Jim Carrey and him back-to-back in 1990?
Jerry looks like a baybee! So does Brian. Awh.
I can't fix the tracking on RUclips like I used to on my VCR. The ending was kind of retro-irritating!
There's a knob for tracking on the bottom of your smartphone.
so that was before they invented snow boards?
Keeps it clean for the whole family and still nails it! Outstanding comedian!
hes still doing the (you too) joke 23 years later
And it is still funny.
Quintuplet down. Funny as hell ...!
lol the vhs lines tho. ❤️
my left ear actually hurts now
THE YELLOW ONE'S THE SUN!
The reference to Copernicus killed me! LOL
It's very interesting to see Jerry. It's interesting to see Brian....oh wait! There's no sound!! Been like this for a couple of years now. Please fix it.
Good stuff.
Can anybody HEAR this?
(( Likes Brian better than Jerry S.))
Dang phone! They always forget to put on a tracking button.
Man, is he like 7 here? I see good things in this kid's future.
I wish I could have heard Jerry.
Volume sucks. Can barely hear it
A cross between Willie Aames and David Coulier
that hair tho
I've always loved this guy its awesome to see him way back in his career like this. I might be the only thinking this but with that hair style if he turns just right he kinda favors jim carey a bit. That's just me though lol
