What a wonderful memory you have of Sunday dinners at your grandma’s house….that is priceless! I’m prone to migraines myself and suffered for years before finally mentioning it one day at a doctor’s appointment. He prescribed Rizatriptan Benzoate to me and that was a Godsend….takes away my migraines in about 15 minutes! Hope that helps anyone out there who suffers from those dreadful headaches! Sunday family dinners are so special. Glad for this new series. Never tried okra but everything else looked delicious. My little black schnauzer passed last year and took part of my heart with him. I have a prayer request. My husband David was dx with cancer last Wednesday. He is having a hard time. So anyone in this community who can lift him up in prayers would sure be appreciated. Growing up, our big meal was after church. Sometimes my grandmother would cook it ahead of time and just heat it up. Other times, my grandfather would cook while we were at church (even though he was a religious man, he did not care for the formslity of church). He would take us to church for Sunday School and listen to the church service on the radio. He would time it to be there when the service was over ... unless the sermon went a little long 😊
Sunday supper was before church services and was usually leftovers from dinner (what we called lunch) or a sandwich/soup.

I love fried okra! Air fried is good too. I grow my own (Clemson variety) and often will eat one raw, at each picking. For those who have never seen okra growing, the flowers are beautiful ❤

I love this new series. It’s relaxed and feels like a visit with a friend…❤
When I was little, we would go to my grandmother’s house for lunch after church.Other cousins may or may not show up too. My mom and aunts would also bring some side dishes to help out with the meal. My grandma never knew how many to expect. Daddy would say the blessing and we would all chow down. I don’t remember anyone being picky-for the most part we ate everything out before us, unlike today. All 3 of my grandchildren are very very picky and nothing I can make suits them except French fries and chicken nuggets…..😫😭😫. However they do love my banana pudding and chocolate pie!

I have been staying with my sister while she was in the hospital for the last 5 weeks. Sadly, we lost her yesterday. She fought hard and long. Migraines are awful. I had a tension headache last weekend & it wiped me out. Seasonal allergies (dang pollen) gets me every year.

It’s been years since my family got to get her for Sunday supper. My 87 year old mom did most of the cooking with me or my sister cooking deserts, my boys and my sisters girls were teens and in school. Wow dad was still alive he died of a massive heart attack in his sleep when my youngest was 16 and he is 43 or will be in a few months. Have a blessed all.

I love fried okra . Always have . I don’t make it unless I have fresh okra . I use 90%cornmeal and just a tad of flour !! It just doesn’t taste right if it’s not fresh ! Granny only used fresh out of her garden . So I have to do just like Granny !!!! 😊

Hi Sammi, I love pickled okra but really have never eaten it fried. It sounds delicious! I love your idea with the boxed potatoes gonna have to try using heavy cream instead. I do love those potatoes
