He might not seem to be as high energy as he was in the past, but back then his high energy was probably masking a lot of pain. Now it seems like he's found peace and doesn't have to be over the top crazy Jim Carrey to make others happy. I think the reason he makes us sad is that he's growing old and he's not Ace Ventura all the time like we hope him to be. But that's okay because I'd rather have a happy Jim Carrey than one who is forced to be something by the fans.

Might be because that trio of ace Ventura, mask, and dumb & dumber are the most impressive box office success in a short span (under 2 calendar years) in movie history by 1 actor. Let alone a comedic actor.

I have heard other stories that Farley was so good with kids. Heartbreaking that his life didn't work out to include any of his own. RIP.
