Hey, I'm Lily, Birds Escape's singer. We'r now changing our band's name to "Portland", so, we need you to change the name of the video from "Birds Escape- You don't know me" to "Portland- You don't know me" It's really important for us! Thanks a lot!
Ha!! It’s both amusing and annoying seeing that more than seven years ago there were whiny little pussies crying about appropriation and so on. As though humans hadn’t been moving constantly and blending in with their new surroundings. I bet you ten crispy, brand new dollars that douche was white too. Pathetic.
Hello everyone! I am the singer of You don't know me, actually i'm looking for some inspiration and collaboration soooo feel free to send me demos and stuff
Appropriation of culture, there is a term for everything now. How about being happy that your culture has elements that are beautiful to the rest of the world? How about being happy that others take inspiration from your culture? We all benefit when we contribute, share, exchange ideas relating to food, medicine, fashion, and many other aspects of life. Inb4 you're white. I'm not white and when others borrow, use, reference my culture, I feel a little bit more proud.
no, im serious just because someone is white or whatever skin color does not mean they should not be wearing whatever they want to wear, to suggest otherwise is frankly stupid. How can you even support a such a preposterous notion?
well like, if you're native american than you can have a say if it's offensive or not! But when something doesn't affect you, you can't know if it's actually offensive. Read this:www.mtv.com/news/1837578/why-you-should-not-wear-headdresses/
Tea San i feel like they dont find it offensive they know we just think it looks cool and are ignorant about what a headdress is. dream catchers as well.
feedmeeplease1 Native American here, it is pretty offensive when you consider what happened to most Native people, however it isn't a huge deal in a modern sense.
Tea San empathy and sympathy don't abide by rules like that, if you're affected negatively by something "shutting up" isn't a tenable option: i'm going to write this about this person on this wall [call Tracy for a good time] and only Tracy has a right to complain about it... guys can get upset for Tracy, it isn't just on her shoulders or her fabricated demographic more typically people keep bad jokes and stereotypes going because they become traditional and stopping them seems like slapping grandma on the wrist, grandma can handle it
it doesn't matter who you are..it matters what you do in life..so what he is an american and he is in native american...both of you are people..live youre life happy and live racism away..that time long passed away
Listening for the first time to Birds Escape, The boy who trapped the sun,Wolf Gang, Kyla La Grange and im wondering; what have i been listening to? This is awesome music. heaven.
The more and more i read comments on youtube, it makes me so sad seeing how low people go just to get a point across. I don't see how you can get so upset while listening to music like this...
This is a great song and to all you people that are throwing negative comments about this woman wearing a headdress more people go buy Moccasins almost every day from store and you don't throw a fit about those people wearing/buying those so to me that doesn't make sense...and I am positive that she means no disrespect.
I like Native American art and apparel because I appreciate beautiful things. If someone wears something because they value it and they admire the craftsmanship of something, nobody should criticize them just because they aren't Native American. I don't know if you have ever thought about that, but I feel this way and I would hope you wouldn't think bad of me for wearing something made by Native Americans.
i love this picture! and this "feather hat" (i donno the name in english), but it simply fascinates me the navajo (?) and aztec prints in fashion clothes :)
@babysealslippers As someone who has interacted with some Lakotas and Seminole in FL, I have to say: some descendants of Native American ancestors look like everyday Americans. Tru fact. We all come in all shapes and colors. I am just glad the picture shows her wearing and ordinary shirt-shows the photographer wasn't trying to perpetuate stereotype of Nat Ams as being a bunch of naked dancing people. There is some cultural sensitivity there.
Definetely this has by far more meaning. But the quality of the photo tells us that she's a model. In this function, she plays a role. And the character she is representing maybe earned to wear it. It's a possibility our minds can think about and be inspired by. So I understand if some peoply are questioning this symbol, but for myself, I see it as a creative display of cultural appreciation.

I miss the sections of youtube where people were all nice to each other and just enjoyed the music :(
You cant escape the cynicism and meanness on tinternet these days. It takes the fun out of everything.
I know Im kind of randomly asking but do anyone know a good site to watch new tv shows online ?
@Luke Ares Try Flixzone. Just google for it :)
People were always cut-throat - ever since we've had chatting/commenting on the internet!!!!

***** Appropriation, II: a sum of money or total of assets devoted to a special purpose.
Not in that sense of the word, but yes in the first.
Ha!! It’s both amusing and annoying seeing that more than seven years ago there were whiny little pussies crying about appropriation and so on. I've been looking for this song FOREVER! I stumbled across it once then tried googling "song with girl with an Indian hat" haha
She's wearing a traditional Indian headdress. What, was "black face" not available?
Cause the other people can see that LIFE is actually so, so, so beautiful. ENJOY IT your way! I love you!
I'm not gonna say much, but it does hurt to see my culture being disrespected in that manner.
almost like a trail of tears
I feel for you. I'm from Scotland, but we don't expect to be treated better or differently from anyone else just because of our cultural heritage.
Super, belle musique et trés jolie voix!
white lady shouldnt be wearing a war bonnet but the song is sick
yes obviously people need to be constrained about what to wear because of the color of their skin.
mpfmax0 unless you haven't heard of cultural appropriation I doubt you're serious. we've all heard of hipsters (white people) exploiting headdresses.
no, im serious just because someone is white or whatever skin color does not mean they should not be wearing whatever they want to wear, to suggest otherwise is frankly stupid. How can you even support a such a preposterous notion?
Bailey Blue Yeah and by you bringing those problems up you repeat the cycle of racism. Congratulations.
you just gave me cancer thank you friend
Iove the hint of disco in her voice and the beat!
This picture though... #Annoyed
+Aggrias Oaks Get over it then.
I suppose black face wasn't available
you don't have to drink bleach, but you should put a copious amounts of it in your eyes
she looks beautiful! I love that picture!
white people are like "this picture isn't offensive" but of course it isn't offensive to you when it's not targeting you lmao smh
appropriation of culture :-/ read some stuff on cultural appropriation you'll get it
