Engineer Flips The Bird & Railroad Switching Over Railroad Diamond, TP&W Railroad Logansport Indiana

- Bird At 5:04! Railroad Diamond For Norfolk Southern & Toledo, Peoria & Western Railroad. Short Line Railroad Action In Logansport, Indiana. Includes a Norfolk Southern local coming and going, a fast train in Peru and another train crossing the diamond. One train was led by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe locomotive and had huge articulated auto racks cars. Have you ever seen auto racks this big?
When I first got to Logansport the TP&W Railroad was doing some switching across the diamond. Notice the Indiana & Ohio locomotives that they were using. I have probably filmed these same locomotives in the Cincinnati area. Genesee & Wyoming owns both the I&O and the TP&W. TP&W was founded in 1989. It is normal to see locomotives moved around various short lines that have the same owners. Some of the locomotives that I have filmed on the CCET have been moved to lines in the Walla Walla area in Washington state that are owned by the same group. I did not notice the bird until a day after I put this video together. I was watching The Railroad Tie Spiker channel and noticed that he got the bird from the same guy. After the train passed him I was at a railroad crossing west of him and I got the bird also. lol. I know its hard to see but to add a closeup picture of it to this video would require the video to have to be completely redone and downloaded.
After the railroad switching is done we see the whole train pass by westbound and then we see a closeup of the rail at an interesting connection of two different size rails. Heavier pound rail ( 136 pounds per yard ) was used for the nearby railroad crossing.
After that we see a Norfolk Southern local come and go and we see a long NS through freight. I had technical difficulties filming that one so I missed the middle of the train. After that we went about 22 miles to the east and caught a fast freight train at Peru Junction. This video goes along with the video that I posted recently showing a Triple Crown Road Railer train crossing the diamond in Logansport, Indiana. See that video for more information about the Road Railer.
This video ends with the pets and the slide show that comes from this video. I rode up here with Scott 1960gambit and we caught the same Road Railer twice. It is a rare train that does not use railroad cars and has only one route. You have to see that video son!
Filmed Wedsday, June 14, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

What i like about JT videos is he takes us to places we otherwise would never see or know about. Thank you Mr. JT for sharing.
My pleasure!😊
Much prefer watching the videos than watching a real train go past where I have to cross almost every day! But I love the sound of trains - real, video and model, if I am not waiting for them to pass
@@suzannerickles6169 Thanks for watching my videos!
@@FabianDiazTrainsTrucksNCars Its really hard to see. I think its at 5:04. You need a big screen. The Railroad Tie Spiker got it really good. We filmed the same train just seconds apart
You know it he is the greatest
Lovin them fur babies! Cant get much better than waking up to a new railfanning video with a cup of coffee first thing in the morning. Thanks!
Glad you like them!

Someone else had that happen to him about a week ago - the railroad guy said the employers are watching their employees and they are unhappy about it.
That was his buddy Scotts vid. Jaw tooth was with him.
Love the weathered covered hoppers😎
Thanks 👍 They would look great in HO
Thanks for the video today. Always interesting and informative. See you on the next! 😊
That was nice seeing the double-stacked rail car with the sides missing.
Reminds me of what they used to look like back then.
Thanks JT for all the trouble you have gone to, for entertaining us ! ❤
I've never seen an auto rack with no sides before. Interesting. 😊
Right?!
When I was a kid none of them had sides which led to huge amounts of damage from thefts and thrown rocks. As a stop gap in the late 70s they were fitted with sides but the tops were still open. Finally in the 80s the purpose built auto racks you see today came about,
There was one in a Jaw Tooth video a couple of weeks ago, but that one was definitely going for scrap, as its road number and reporting mark were struck out.
That's interesting to know why they had to put sides on them. Thank you.
@@myrnawashington9057 First they started out as standard flats with a frame for an upper deck. Later the frames were added to 65 ft. TTX flats and later the 80 footers. Back in the 30s some autos were suspended by the front end in boxcars with sides hinged at the bottom which could then drop down like ramps. Little damage resulted in transit but loading and unloading were tedious. I believe NYC pioneered this but I could be wrong.
Great video Jawtooth ! That old Family lines L&N grainer was cool! Ashame it has all the Graffiti. Cool location and Line, Thanks for sharing!
Great video! I saw I&O engines on a train in Monroe, LA back in May. Cool colors to see in person for sure!
Very cool!😊
Outstanding and busy spot!
Train Man have bad day love your dogs and cats all love your train 🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂 Horn sounds good
The conductor probably had arrest warrants and didn’t wanna be on camera 😂
What about he just didn’t want a fucking camera shoved in his face would you at your job !😡
The Bird from a "BIRD BRAIN". Tom in Ohio
Or they've had a few close calls with idiots who stand on or to close to the rails for pictures & videos
Hope the public relations department of the railroad sees this. Certainly not a great image or rep for them...."the railroad of the flying finger..."🤮😮🤣

Very unprofessional engineer I’d say JT. But overall another great ride. Thanks for taking us along.👍🏼🚂
Me and my slightly crooked hat at 12:08. lol
Jokes aside, that was a fun day. Hopefully, I can come down and check out some Cinncinatti area rail action with you, some day.
Especially over there in the Spring Grove Village part of Cincinnati. I think that's one place he goes
Great trains. Malcontent engineer. That puppy is huge! Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Those old canadian grainers ..my uncle ran an elevator . Camrose AB ."old grain sylo " for delivery to rail ..always was one of those grainers parked there ..memories thx jt
I have seen that on the N/S Harrisburg East line 132re and 136re the joint bars are marked 132 and 136 on the same joint bar. Cool video. Nice catches
Thanks for the info
Maybe that one auto carrier was on the way to the car doctor? Nice group of trains. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Jaw tooth you hit the jackpot on this video. I bet this is the most number of trains in the shortest time.
Good stuff mate, keep up the good work. I love the variety.
that first train I thought I had seen that train before with teh bird flipper, sure are alot of people filming the trains, looks like you have competition.
The RUclipsr “The railroad tie spiker” filmed this same company, TP&W a week or two ago and the engineer flipped him the bird too. That’s probably where you remember seeing the same looking loco from with the engineer giving the bird.
Love seeing the old cylindrical hoppers.
I liked that short one
Thanks for watching Rachel!
That transition between different rail sizes is crazy. Thanks for another great video.
Cool to see those long, long trains. :)
Another great video being in Indiana. You definitely had a productive day there catching what we like! The NS local had to be my favorite with the GP40-2's providing the power! And far as the guy giving you the BIRD, ida said "YEAH THANKS I KNOW IM #1" 😂. Thanks again JT for some great footage from a new location! Cheers from Laurel, Delaware USA.
Great Videos JT. I love all of the information that comes with the videos.
That puppy is so adorable . By the way when I read the headline of engineer and bird for some reason I thought he got off the train and brought you a bird he found, like a baby bird.
Oh, lol. I might have to change the title. I should have said flipped the bird
❤
Jaw tooth never disappoints me his videos are always great
Some people just get up on the wrong side of the bed but the cool location and great action make up for it. Liked it much, thanks JT!
i dont think he was being mean, i think he was just bustin jaws chops...
Glad you enjoyed it😊
Thank you for this video of the other trains that you saw at Logansport and Peru, Indiana when you went to those two cities to capture a Road Railer train. The Toledo, Peoria & Western Railroad switching the rail yard in Logansport, Indiana was interesting to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it!😊
Awesome video of the switching action Jaw Tooth!
Thanks!
Another awesome video, Jaw Tooth! Awesome train station-and-The RAM dealer!!
lol jawtooth is always funny

Hello, Jaw Tooth, it has been a while I thanked you for your pleasant uploads. So here you are: Thanks for my DDoT. Keep on going, JT. And don't stop filming your pets.
Awesome captures. We really enjoyed this. Yes your puppy sure has grown up. Chessie is having a ball with your puppy. Thank you so much for this cool filming . 😊
Thank you so much 😊
Great video mr tooth
I froze the frames on the TP&W job and it appears that the engineer has his right arm and hand hanging out the window, all fingers fully extended on his right hand. It didn't look like an obscene gesture. Never the less wonderful action shots.
Deine Videos sind wirklich sehr schön
You are going all around my old stomping grounds where the TRAINS rule! I grew up in Indiana and remember EVERY town you've had trains through!
Another great video JT.
Thanks again!
Great location great video thanks Jaw tooth
Thanks 👍
That’s one hell of a description JT, lots of good information. Thanks for taking the time to do that, I know most people never read the description
Love your Aussie puppy! So cute! Some good footage, JT. Hey, if you’re venturing as far as northern Indiana to shoot video, why not go a bit further west to the Chicago area. Or, better yet, the Rochelle, IL railfan park!
I might make it to Rochelle. I really want to go to the huge train museum that is northwest of Chicago. Illinois railroad museum I think. They have trains to ride and tons to look at
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo comme toujours ! ✨✨
Another great video JT! This was in my general area. Thanks 👍. 😊😊
Thanks 👍

Thanks!
Great “live action.”
Mr Jaw Tooth, I’ve been watching your train videos for several years and you just keep getting better. Thank you so much for your dedication to producing excellent content.👍🏼
Sad, amazing how disrespectful to the company that employs you to demonstrate such an attitude. He has no idea that perhaps tens of thousands of people will see just which end of the horse he represents.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great video!
Nothing says "I'm miserable" like flipping off.
Good morning !
Morning!
This is the best railfan channel! Thanks for tyke video
One more comment when I was with the Illinois Terminal Back in 77 we took cards down to the T PW yard in Peoria Illinois
Mother in Law lives in Ossian Indiana... Just south of Ft Wayne. She was joking with us about having to plan extra time getting anywhere because of the train crossings. She wasn't kidding..
Great video and catches jaw tooth

So beautiful video my friend! Congratulations 🤩🤩🤩
Super duper video JT!

Thank you very much!
Don’t feel to bad Jaw tooth, the Railroad tie spiker filmed TP&W a couple weeks ago and the engineer flipped him the bird too. He was recording some of there Sd40-2 like you are and the conductor was mad and when they got rolling and passed him, the engineer flipped him the bird. Seems some people can’t stand it when others are happy in life too. Sorry that happened to you.
It's the exact same train. Because remember the Central Transportation being in the dock 😮
Its because these guys film operations. Tie Spiker especially, as he's been known to film air tests and engine starts/inspections. Railroaders don't like that, as quite a few rules can be taken different ways depending on how they're viewed. Employee thinks he's following rules, manager sees a video and thinks otherwise. Just film rollbys, not switching ops.
@@wargamz9051 I’m well aware of that. But being an 🫏 about people filming on public areas that are known to attract attention and be completely in view is not people’s problem. If the RR’s don’t like it then they can go whine somewhere else. Btw I have a profound love for the RR and I plan on working in the business myself. But you can’t have your cake and eat it too
Awesome video keep up with a great work and be safe out there.
Maybe big bird thought he was starring in a Jason Asselin vidya. hahahaha. I seen a few birds flippin over there.
I don’t know if anyone else pointed this out, but the TP&W was originally established in the early 1850s. This one is about the 4th iteration but it’s the original roadbed🤭
He
I thought 1989 sounded funny. 1989 is when Gennesse & Wyoming was founded. I agree with the approx 1850 for TPW
Hey Jaw Tooth, I just saw this and as always
another really great video of trains and here
in Logansport, Ind. this was great to see and
those engineers you don't really know what to
expect from them just having fun seeing the
trains going by another really great video

Do you own a 442?
Good morning Neil and thanks for being so quick today!
Good morning Neil
Hey I love your videos keep up the great work bye jt
Great day of trains!❤
As long as you are that far from home you should head up to LaPorte or Chesterton. Usually about 50 trains a day heading to and from Chicago. Not many DPU's since everything is so flat but the sheer volume will keep you busy.
I want to get up there. I was in Michigan City and that area a few years back
@@JawTooth Didn't know you had been up there before. South Shore commuter street running was always pretty cool.
@@gerrittprince1810 Yeah I filmed it a few years back. Stayed at Bridgeview Inn and also stayed at a place near the state line. Also went to a nearby steam place, Heston I think it was
It is a shame that one person has to do that on your video (and The Rail Spiker). He should be proud that someone takes an interest in the work he is doing. On the the other hand, like another viewer commented, he is probably wanted for some crime he has committed and does not want his picture taken. Still a great video and keep them coming!
Great video son!!
Thanks!
They're about four units short for a typical G&W consist. They like their long strings of 4-axle units.
love the posting lights on the loco
That engineer needs to find himself a girl friend!!! What a moon....... . Great vid as always JT.
Thanks for watching!
Like a gf would help.
Good Afternoon Jaw Tooth.
great video😊😊
Thank you 🤗
Yes the bird bird the bird is a word.
Person in the black car looked like they gave a salute. 6:28
There has been some commentary from numerous fans along the TP&W system and ever since G&W the employees are not as friendly as they used to be. Ive Got a Feeling This Crew was on the verge of Take This Job and Shove It. After shifting cars in high humidity as this unit does not have AC and they may run out of time on the road. The sight of four guys running around with cameras at every which angle may have pushed the envelope. As for the autorack missing the side panels it most likely was headed to the transkol repair facility in Logansport. This is an old PRR shop and has an interesting 3 story mural off two hobos jumping into a boxcar. Hobo Shoestring would be proud
Excellent Video

That man wasn't raised properly
Great video JawTooth 👌👌
Keep the great work up
During the 2000’s 5014 and 5012 worked on the Cape Breton and central Nova Scotia railway in Canada number as 5001 and 5002 and were green with cbns patching but were sold back sometime before 2012 when G&W bought rail America
The Railroad Tie Spiker had the same video about the same engineer about 11 days ago.
That autorack without the siding on D93 was probably going for repairs. Just East down the line is TransCo which was the old PRR engine repair shop. In the back of TransCo, there's a turntable in the back. I'm unsure if it's still used. TransCo repairs and rebuilds cars and a lot being autoracks. They actually use a tractor to pull autoracks in the facility which is just on the Southside of the shop. There's a video on it by GMF Train Videos. I think you'd be interested.
The transfer table out front is really cool. I want to film that
If you wanna see it in action, it'll be best to be there early in the morning. When sun is coming up they usually got all the doors open
