This is one of my favorite older songs. George Baker Selection was a pop-rock band from the Netherlands. They are best-known for their 1969 song "Little Green Bag" & the 1975 hit "Paloma Blanca".
This song reached the American Charts in March of 1970 and reached the top 20. Tarantino's Reservoir Dog's came out in 1992 which certainly brought more attention to the song, but it never re-charted on the American charts. Always loved this!
Can't hear this without thinking of the movie "Reservoir Dogs" by Quentin Tarantino, nobody uses music in a movie as well as he does. It's the scene towards the beginning when the boys are leaving the diner after planning their caper, and the pacing is PERFECT. Got the movie poster on my wall, and the picture is from that scene.
Yahoo!! When I saw the title I was hoping it was this song. What a great tune from the past. It is so catchy and the change in the tempo throughout the song keeps your interest. Little green bag, pot /money?? Who knew? The instruments are all exceptional. Heard in Reservoir Dogs. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Craig, big thumbs up for a great groovy tune. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Heard some of it in an episode of Red Dwarf long ago. Never heard it when I was a kid way back when in the USA. Absolutely love it! Little Green Bag was on the charts in Britain for quite awhile from what I've read. PS: Red Dwarf is the best! Huge fan here.
Thanks for reacting to a great 60’s jazz/rock recording! Yes it does sound like Jackie Wilson & Tom Jones vibe🤩 If this doesn’t get you dancing - what is wrong with you all !!🤣☮️💗 😻
Hey, Harri: This song is way better than I recalled it from my long ago past. They did another nice, upbeat song called Paloma Blanca which was a hit when I was in college.
This was pretty big on the radio back in 69-70 here in Australia. Remember dancing to it with my then boyfriend (which dates me but who cares) and having a great time. Loved the beat - so easy to dance to. Later on, used this track for part of the music for a freestyle dressage routine as my horse naturally trotted EXACTLY in time to this rhythm - worked a treat.
A great one, brother Harri! Yes, this is definitely 1960's - 1969, to be precise. It's part of a Jazz Rock movement that was running through the bottom of the charts across the world, though mostly in the UK. The best of the Jazz Rock acts was the great Georgie Fame, who enjoyed hits throughout the decade, his biggest being Yeh Yeh. The George Baker Selection were a Dutch group. I've loved Little Green Bag since the first time I heard it way back then. It's so good, I can forgive George Baker for inflicting the horrid Una Paloma Blanca - a horrid piece of earworm music from 1975 you'll wish you'd never heard. Peace, Harri. Take care and stay safe.
I don’t frigging care that we’re not supposed to like “Una Paloma Blanca”, I love the song. It’s perfectly catchy and lighthearted and there’s nothing wrong with that. 😁
@@NathanVeenstra , never said I didn't like it but it gets in your head very easily. It becomes the background music to my every thought. THAT's my problem. If this doesn't happen to you, great! Enjoy!!
I heard this song as a graduating senior, 1970. It was so much fun. I thought it was a lucky song for me. Seemed like every time I heard it good things would happen for me.
This was from 1969 (or maybe 1970, not sure). George Baker Selection was part of the (very) short-lived "Dutch Invasion" along with Shocking Blue and Tee Set. This was a pretty decent sized hit. George had another hit in 1975, with "Paloma Blanca," which sounded very different than this one.
This came out my sophomore year in High School and had quite a bit of air play. We all knew what the little green bag was I did not see one till later in life.
What a great song Craig, and it was in such a great movie also. The other song that stands out in that movie was Stuck in the Middle with You of course.
Lyrics say "Little Green Back". Look it up. D.J. couldnt understand the lyrics. Was renamed "Little green bag" becuz it was selling so well all over the world.
Only hit for them in the US, but HUGE hit pretty sure it was 1970 here, but copies of it were scarce, then didn't hear from them again. Totally agree with the Tom Jones vibe in the middle sections.
This reminds me of the scene from The Simpsons where Lisa is walking down the street collecting all kinds of animals including an elephant and a duck 😃
Please react to Una Paloma Blanca-also George Baker Selection, their hole genre is great, also watch George Baker at Kurhaus Scheveningen 50 years jubilee

The guy's voice is crazy good.
Haven't heard this song in years...thank you Harri!

Great song, I love playing it on bass :)
Funny how you mention Tom Jones. Bare Naked Ladies did a cover of this song featuring Tom! Very quirky & fun! 😎🎶❤

Fab Gear, Omg, Una Paloma Blanca. Just reading the words started that earworm right back up. Last time I had it 7 years.😂(well, it felt like it )😐

Another great band from the Netherlands, with their original song
Wow Craig!! That one brought back memories, thanks so much !! Thanks for reacting Harri, as always 😉💫
You’re welcome!
A great hit in these days. Greetings from the Netherlands. 🖐️🖐️🇳🇱💕💕🎶🎶

Great reaction Harri! I heard this song on 93 KHJ Boss Radio in Los Angeles in the late 1960s.
Ha Ha, I was thinking about mentioning this funny little tune a week ago, glad someone else did. Thanks Harri and for the memories
Oh hell Harri you killed it! I love this song!
I cannot hear this song without thinking about Reservoir Dogs opening credits.
Hey harri Craig Aust

Sounds like listening to this song should be played often. Keep smiling 😃
That sure does bring back memories. Have not heard this in quite awhile. Good one Harri. This song came out I believe around late 1970 .
It came out October of 69.
@@junglejim5785 Ok thanks. I get a little lost in the time sometimes.
@@BeeLineEast No problem. I do as well. Take care.

This is a dance classic!
Love it! Haven’t heard this in a very long time 😎
This is a Dutch band singing about weed
The lyric is actually “little green back” but it was mistaken as little green bag and it stuck
as others has said it's Little Green Back, not "bag", a mistake at printing time. he actually says "back" while singing, listen to it.
From the good old days !

The next one on my list is nowhere near as upbeat in the way it sounds
@@craigaust3306 I looked at your list before and I remember them all being good. It’s nice to have some downbeat too. Lol

Yeah the Jackie Wilson sound you are right never noticed that before great catch Harri
Tom Jones recorded this song in 1999
una paloma blanca by george baker selection
Released in the Netherlands in October 1969.
Only hit for them in the US, but HUGE hit pretty sure it was 1970 here, but copies of it were scarce, then didn't hear from them again. Totally agree with the Tom Jones vibe in the middle sections.
Reminds me of the band Mental As Anything
the original name of it was 'ittle greenback', and it was about money.
I believe its Little Green Back, referring to dollar bills.
please react to the full concert of George Baker his 50 year anneversery concert in Kurhaus The Hague(Den Haag)
I seen a Mariachi band do this song and it sounded great. The original is best because this guys voice is "bad ass!"
This reminds me of the scene from The Simpsons where Lisa is walking down the street collecting all kinds of animals including an elephant and a duck 😃
Released October 1969
It came out October of 69.
Good call with Jackie Wilson and Tom Jones. Def 60s circa
A little greenback, no'msayin?
I always thought the little green bag was about sniffing glue from a plastic bag.
It's about a bag of weed.
I think it's more like Elvis
1970
omg its my first time awesome song
