Hi there. I appreciate the time put into making this tutorial. One suggestion that I think would massively improve the viewer's ability to follow along is to simply cut out all of the switching camera angles and only show Ski's hands on the Push. I couldn't tell what buttons he wash pushing a fair amount of the time and there's no reason I need to see his face to learn the Push, as handsome as he is.
The Best example. Thx Can we do the same in the other ver. (not in Standalone)? Can u pl make an video about differentness between Standalone and none?
Push 3 vs Akai Force .. Akai Force is killer for use with modular for a live techno set but it’s not the easiest to set some stuff up This in stand alone would be a game changer for me
did you use the input on the push 3 for the mic? the inputs have no phantom power for condenser mics and not enough gain for many dynamic mics. did you use a presmp for the mic? also you have no direct monitoring on the push, the audio akways goes through the device and has some latency, depending on buffer size.
i've been loving the standalone experience. i'm still learning how to use all its features, but for me the biggest things is working on a dedicated device creates a distraction free environment when you need it.
Push 2 is still more than capable. If you're fine using a computer or laptop and don't need the stand alone capability then I'd ave a ton of $ and stick with push 2.
So there's no arrangement view you could've recorded your performane into ? That's a pity, as if you could, together with an ADAT preamp and a microphone, you'd have a complete mobile studio without the need for a computer. Still, i think both Push3 versions are awesome, the MPE and ADAT features alone are a gamechanger.
@@hvhvgitaar I think it’s worth bearing in mind that this is the first release of Standalone, which can run a fully functioning version of Live Suite under the hood, so there will always be potential to expand its capabilities.
Expect some stinky armpits here. That's construction worker talk for obvious, intentional, easily-repaired mistakes that make the workers look more industrious than they actually are when they bust out a quick, professional-looking fix. I guarantee the first firmware upgrade will be huge.
hi buddy, do you think push 3 stand alone is good enough for writing track 0 too 100 and later live performance.? and how many midi tracks does it have for sequencing external synthesizers ?
This is really impressive a workflow. Will you finish that track and release it somewhere. It really is a kicker. On another note, what do you think of the Mic preamp of the Push? I got the standalone a few days ago, but haven't tried inputing audio in yet. I've heard not great things about the noise floor of the mic preamp, so might it be a necessary addition to use something a battery powered Mic Preamp for mobile/compact setups without a dedicated audio interface, such as an Art Dual Pre (costs 100GBP)?
I have Akai Force. This looks good but first impressions doesn't seem much different aside from Force's larger screen, touchscreen and arranger. You can view, shift, alter, etc beats and notes using the screen.
I imagine the distinction would be much easier to import between ableton and push vs akai (I would never be able to divorce myself from the abelton completely)
For a standalone machine I would prefer to see a bigger flipped angled screen, with the rotary knobs on the side. It need at least 8 outs, digital in/out. Not sure if many people would actually get much use out of MPE, I mean it's fun to play, but how would it sit with an actual tune? I don't know the price $AUS, but it wouldn't surprise me that its well over 3000 grand.
Actually I think you can do that. They’ve added an edit button on the recorded sample. Seems you can set your loop points there and maybe crop it as well, not sure. Have no idea why they don’t just add that to push 2.
naming tracks on this thing is a joke. There needs to be a better way to name something. How about an icon or something. Scrubbing through letters with a jog wheel to name something is a complete waste of time.
It's actually not that onerous. However, it wouldn't suprise me if there is USB keyboard compatibility in the future. You can plug a USB hub into the the back 😎
@@PspkCz it's much more powerful than it seems. The standalone is running a trimmed down optimized kernel of linux. This means you aren't wasting memory and processes on goofy background things like checking for updates every 2 minutes. The main reason to get it is not for the specs though but rather that it changes your workflow, almost forcing you to optimize based off of internal processing. No more firing up the push 2 and doing 90% of your tweaking on live.
I can’t find any battery specs, but the Intel CPU, 8GB DDR4 memory and 256GB NVMe m.2 SSD are worth £200 retail incl. tax. There must be a lot of secret sauce included that Ableton thinks they can charge £879 for the upgrade kit. Or chutzpah.
And to state that “Using parts that aren’t from Ableton could be hazardous, and will void your warranty” will likely not stand up in court: PC manufacturers tried that decades OK and had to accept defeat.
Which CPU. Push 3 is using 11th gen I3 - I found those nuc cards for around 263eur/228 pounds but without SSD. Still not upgrade price, even if we add battery. Maybe someone will come up with easy DIY upgrade kit. Anyway it's great that the hardware will not be obsolete in 3-4 years, we will just have to change battery and some small Intel board to new one. Good move.
@@pietruh13pl OK, the 11th gen i3-1115g4 is not a retail SKU and only sold on trays to OEMs/ODMs, but you can find even better ones within that budget for CPU, RAM and SSD. I beg your pardon, for 2K i can buy a whole Ryzen 9 laptop with an RTX inside and install a Full Ableton Suite on it. I think that Ableton has stopped communicating with its costumers and went out of the orbit. This is not what people wanted. Why would you create a device with bounded bunch of functionality and PUSH it into the market? Producers around the world are seeking ways to finish their tasks FASTER, not "prettier". Lets imagine that i have made a track on this device. What's next? You will still need a DAW to polish it, mix and eq, compress ...etc.
I use a DAW to mix and master; to me this is a creative sketchpad. That laptop keyboard doesn’t have an mpe control surface; nor a set of discretionary knobs auto-mapped to my favourite vst macros or fx sends etc. It’s also a hands on clip / matrix based matrix recorder; and has a plethora of well thought out features for recording, editing and mapping samples on the fly. Sure it’s currently far from perfect (from the clunky packs installer to the lack of a search feature), but you’re going to need a lot more devices plugged into your laptop to replace the immediacy of some of this hands on all in one box functionality. Anyway my two pence; each to their own :)
No VST is perfectly understandable. This is an Ableton standalone beat maker, controller and live performance device. Not a Mac book Pro. If it included a full version of live, it would be much more expensive. Most people who will buy this will probably already own suite. It makes complete sense to not included a full version of live in the base version at full price. What a silly complaint.
@@elliott7268 even a full version of live on this device doesn't provide the full features as live on pc. So yeah. They could have provided a full version. Funny how most of these Ableton paid for “reviews “ conveniently forget to mention that there is no access to the arranger view in standalone. So curious how you're sampling from vinyl. Oh - btw, interesting review on Push 3. The pads on my older push suck and I read a review that said the pads still aren't great on P-3/ 2 grand machine. Hard pass for now. I'm not talking about MPC expression I'm talking about the amount of force required to strike pads to produce drum hits, etc. I am going to buy the slightly less expensive Akai The Force. Cheers.

Honestly can't believe no one is in ranged at the price of this crap so you can even plug a mouse tan or anything and it doesn't even have any touched a green or anything on the screen to speed things up literally you're paying more money for less ability at a slower rate and even in the whole mobile standalone parked off it as crap it only lasts 21/2 hours enough for you to process maybe a few drums or one sample
That is nothing more than some fancy menus and advertising and marketing
Is this that "Push Push in the Bush" song?
They should have made the push three a standalone with 16 pads as a option
No arranger, no song
no life 😢
You can actually record in Arrangement from P3, just press Shift+Rec, and then play your arrangement from Session. Back to Live you'll find everything in Arrangement.
for now
@@valiumdupeuple And you can also use PAM, which gets you functionality in arranger mode.
@@Lokjutus Well, I made PAM 😄 But it's not P3-ready yet (we need Ableton to fix stuff first)... and it's anyway really different than what could be an Arrangement mode on P3S.
OMG Haha! Let's be friends?:)
