Some further clarification of the Origin TLE server: They specifically chose 2006 and not 2004 because this was the moment when the class progression and subcombine systems were removed, but also before the overland zones were revamped into solo content. The devs have said that they would love to bring those back, but it's just not possible without building the game up from scratch all over again.
WOOOOO ive been waiting for this Episode! I was so freaking excited to meet you at PAX! Glad you had a great time, our conversations were wonderful with the devs at the brewery! Thank you for making it more special for me!
Thank you so much for your work. I was EQ2 player but haven't played it for a long time. Nevertheless Norrath is a big part of me. Your show help me to remember it!
Mischief for life! Starting over can be fun but the slog that is the level 70's isn't something I want to experience again. Later EQ is so much more interesting!
I am very hopeful for the Origins EQ2 server. I wish it was a 2004/5 era but 2006 will have to suffice. If it's done well, it might be the only thing that'll bring me back to playing a game I used to love tremendously.
First, I hope you are already feeling better! Second, it is so exciting for me to hear about what is to come! I was unable to go to the Con, so thanks for posting the discussion. Also, I wonder For me, I hear that intro music, and I know what follows is going to be great! Thanks, Fading!
i noticed the puzzling event they are hosting on social media has a map of Norrath, but the continents are shifted around from there proper location, is this a reveal of something? hmmmm
It looks like this is the first time they’ll be using the name reservation system, so there aren’t any details yet on how it will actually work. I suspect as long as you have any character in any server with 200+ days played, you’ll be first in line. Then the threshold will progressively lower after that.
Tell them to nerf Monks on the TLP'S.... 60% of the new guild sign ups of folks coming back are Monks, no Rangers, no Rogues, no Wizards 1 Mage and 2 necromancer's for dps..... you see the problem here
@PreceptorLive one drawback if you're new, is pulling when you're not familiar with the zones or camps. Monks normally do the pulling. Cleric is a great first class , If you like grouping.
@PreceptorLive if you are going to solo a bit, druid is the best of those, till you get higher, then sham gets pretty good, but for new TLP servers , druids make a ton of money porting folks
remaster of the original EQ but with balance things that we have learned threw the 25 years, Get trade skills right. The best gear is always made with Items found in the world . Instead of uber raid drops. Quest lines that are not broken and actually tell the Lore, Using voice over text. If i wanted to read book I would have bought a book LOL Less focus on lvl exp and more skill based. You would would have a a rating system of some of skills rather than a static LVL. Mobs would be the same. So it would look and feel like the Original but it would be almost a entirely new game in game mechanics.
@@roboparks Agreed. Not everyone can poopsock raid targets and respond to 3am batphones. Or at a minimum, make the raid targets more accessible, increased spawn rates. Make it so if you raided a target you are locked out for X days so others can have the same chance. P1999 became a complete mess with raiding. I get the nostalgia but it was dumb then and it is dumb now. Even Diablo 2 remaster had some QOL that did not make the game feel different.
Has anyone pitched the idea to have death hurt a lot more ? Maybe not a hardcore but maybe 1 death a month. If resurrection is not used within 1 hour. Or maybe like a 2 lvl loss hit when you die?
Instead of bringing EQ 2 back to 2006, why not bring EQ back to 1999, which is what a lot of players want. A time period where Monks were balanced and Rogues weren't a troll pick.
Just make the Game hard again. That difficulty is what made it more sociable. Bring back hell lvls . Bring back death penalties and corpse runs (balanced though) . On Teek a lot of players were already lvl 60 in the 1st week . and most High Powered Guilds have gone threw all the Raid content. And now they are bored lol
@@roboparks That's a good point. Scaling the raids and what not to actually be challenging rather than a snooze fest would be nice. I remember being terrified zoning into the Plane of Fear with 85 other players. Now I go in like 15 dudes and never even come close to dying as we easily plow through the entire zone, including CT. Which I never even saw killed on my server back in the day.
@@primmtravels450 Yeah, I'm not saying people can't, but it's the same thing over and over... how many times do people play a version of the same thing haha?
@@FEV369 quite alot Tetris is still played as is classic wow . People want more of the same . The stuff they want with tlps I don't think I speculate they cant afford to do .
@@primmtravels450 I understand, I played EQ for 18 years. But a sign of a dying game is when few people play it hardcore and there is little other interest. So, why the energy from EQ to develop the same serve over and over with slight changes over a whole new version of the game?
"We don't always agree with the player feedback" No shit Sherlock. That's true of any game. " 90K players? Bullshit. There is no way that number is correct, maybe accounts but not players.
Why would they make live expansions....its dead. Focus on making TLP's better. just do what WOW did and re release your game but make it better looking.
CORRECTION : The name reservation system will set a threshold of 200 DAYS played, not 200 Hours as stated in the video.
Sorry for the error.
Hey do they only count names on the new tlp servers or live servers too?
Regardless I love this

Excited to see all the future content. Keep rocking it!
Pure excellence. Thank you for all your hard work.
I’m a ruins of kunark baby. I miss this game so much. It has the best gaming community anywhere. Plane of time was so much fun.

Happy 25th EQ... I'm just a couple months away to being 50, so this game is half my age! LOL
Very nice spotlight on Nick Parkinson, Jay Barbeau and Justin Kader. very cool episode.
Can't wait to bring your those stories. In lots of episodes in Season 3 (This Summer)
Thanks !
Glad to see you made it to PAX East, Fading! Are you considering going to West during August in Seattle?
No plans at the moment. I'll be at Fippy Fest, Gen Con and possibly Dragon Con this year.
Reporting in for Gen Con meetup in Indy :)
If its the same Pink Poodle, I remember her when she basically ran the EQ2Flames forum after LFG left.
Please tell me you are working on a new EverQuest game for us. Please please. 😊
Did I hear new EQ game / project?
Hrmm .. maybe it was just my imagination?
i noticed the puzzling event they are hosting on social media has a map of Norrath, but the continents are shifted around from there proper location, is this a reveal of something? hmmmm
The name reservation is actually 200 days. But otherwise, can’t wait for Teek
Than you for catching the error! I'll post the catch on the description
Get the fan meet up at Ike and jonesy’s, can’t beat an 80’s theme for us old folk!
Does that still exist? I thought it closed a while back.
I’m not sure, I haven’t been since 2011 when I was living in Kokomo
The 2.0 mischief TLP seems pretty underwhelming for it being the 25th anniversary. =/
Just a bit, but it is at least a little more interesting. Sadly, though, Tormax feels like it's going to just be DOA.
How do we reserve names? I have toons with years of /play time. Or is this only on the old TLPs

do you know whats on the code that they gave out?
Being able to transfer over a level 60 character would have got me to try the new TLP..
Big disappointment they didn't do a legacy character transfer to the new TLP

Either make a remaster of the original EQ, come out with a new game or just sell the IP to someone who can do either of the two.
