HIII unusual post!! this was a college project from ?? october ?? and i forgot to post it !! oops !!
this animation was for my AV class.. we had a very short module about animation and we had to do a 20 second long animation with a fable or something like that..........so yeah who here has abandonment issues....................... i don't cause i love being alone but i pray for yall who do
despite being short it was a good instance to practice animation (i only had like 1 week to do this T_T_T) which i never have opportunities to do so.... i study design and there isn't many instances where i can use animation for my projects sobs

i think this is a metaphor for attachment issues. the young girl obviously has an emotional attachment to this butterfly, having befriended it since it was a caterpillar. the girl has grown so attached to the butterfly that when she sees that it’s trying to fly away, potentially to live its own life, she freaks out and thinks it’s trying to abandon her, severing the perceived emotional attachment between both of them due to the fact that it’s highly unlikely that the butterfly will ever return (butterflies don’t like to stay in the same place a lot and also have a very short lifespan), so she tries to keep it with her, unintentionally breaking its wings in the process, and although this means the butterfly won’t be able to leave her side, it is also harmful for the butterfly since it can’t move as much and will not be able to find food as much. she basically shortens its lifespan in an attempt to keep it from leaving her, which will inevitably make it leave her sooner.
