Every Dragon Quest game has a Symphonic Suite, you should check this very song on his orchestrated side, it is amazing. Koichi Sugiyama style is very unique, and he is a classic composer that even guided real orchestras of these games.
@@LynRodriguez123 Yeah and it's because the guy himself we didn't get orchestral version of DQVII's soundtrack in the 3DS release, that DQXI's first version didn't have the Orchestral version either and probably because of him the 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII didn't have orchestral OST either, because he think people wouldn't buy the OST if they were already in their best version in the game -_-. This guy is a piece of shit really.
So yeah that Leitmotif is from the theme of the celestial bird you're riding on the back of during the battle. Also the version you listened to was (I think) from the Japanese version, which has the throwback midi sound to it. The North American version had a live orchestrated version of the soundtrack.
Dude, I've been binge watching all your videos and I love them, your channel is such a treasure I've just found. Now, I have a request that you probably have seen... please do a Slave Knight Gael reaction. That's the very ending of the Dark Souls series and it's epic.
(DQ8 spoilers ahead) 15:20 That is indeed a leitmotif! It's a fragment from another track from the game called Heavenly Flight (Which is amazing and you should react to it heh), this track sounds every time you use the Godbird's stone to fly, but this also plays back in the NES DQ3 era when riding Ramia, in DQ8 Ramia also appears as the Godbird Empyrea (Which is later confirmed in the game that she is the same Ramia from DQ3), this leitmotif appears because in the final battle your party has to ride Ramia since the final boss is floating high in the sky. So the leitmotif basically refers to Ramia since she's also a very big part of the game background story
As much as i'd love to see and do agree with everyone telling you to react to Slave Knight Gael- I'd love to see your take on Jhin's theme from League of Legends. It does a great job interpreting his "murder as an art form" character. Broken into 4 parts as the chase, struggle, silence, and admiration afterwards. Love your reactions my dude! The things you point out often fly right by me a majority of the time listening. It's always cool to see the appreciation for detail
hello, the reason it sounds like this is because this is the basic midi version of the song -- despite the game being for ps2 which is fully capable of pcm audio, the composer, sugiyama koichi, forced the developers to use this basic midi version of all the music because he wants people to have to buy the soundtrack in order to hear the orchestral performances. if you happen to do any dragon quest analyses in the future, i recommend listening to the symphonic suite versions.
Everybody in the past comment sections request the most famous ost of Dark Souls and Bloodborne, so I decided to propose the underrated (sorry for probable error in the phrase, I'm not english) : - Champion's Gravertender (DSIII) - Father Gascoigne (BB)
I loooove your reactions so much ! I hope one day to see a reaction to a Touhou soundtrack, like Pure Furies, The Concealed Four Seasons, or Idolatrize World. There is a lot to say about these soundtracks, I think!
Mild spoilers 15:18 is based on the flight theme from DQ 3, which was re-used in 8, and also in this boss theme, where it takes on a more menacing sound.
may i propose some more songs for reaction: -dancer of the boreal valley, dark souls 3 -the fiction we tell ourselves, to the moon -enchanted banquet, castlevania SOTN -nastar rastan saga II arcade main theme :P
That's very impressive that you could recognize the leitmotif without having played the game! Actually, since you mentioned Star Wars in this video, one request I would like to make is Final Fantasy 12's 'Theme of the Empire'. It's another PlayStation 2 game, and one that's often described as a medieval fantasy version of Star Wars. This particular track also features another leitmotif that's present in various themes throughout the game. I think HItoshi Sakimoto did an excellent job with this soundtrack. His style is very different from long-running series composer Nobuo Uematsu, but my musical knowledge isn't quite intricate enough to properly explain how. Maybe you'd be able to contrast them having heard some of Uematsu's work as well. Anyway, keep up the great work!
This piece is more a collection of various songs throughout the game. North American PS2 version sound is so much better quality sounding than this one (Orchestral, not Midi) My personal favourite from this game is Heavenly Flight. Check it out!
オーケストラ版聞いてほしいなぁ。 すぎやまこういちはオーケストラに合うように作曲してるからめちゃくちゃ良いんだよな。 I wish you could hear the orchestral version. Koichi Sugiyama composes music to fit the orchestra, so it's really good.
Informative and insightful breakdown! Sugiyama is a master of brass arrangement, you got it spot on. Also, as others have stated, the orchestral version is better, conducted by Sugiyama himself, but ironically I do appreciate your reaction to the midi version probably more than the orchestral because of the soundchip talk. Cheers and merry Christmas
Hi, I've seen you reacting on music from Bloodborne, you shoud listen to Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower and Gerhman The First Hunter, they are real masterpieces ^^
How about giving a listen to "Darkness of the Unknown" from Kingdom Hearts II? That one is eargasm incarnate! (Or more correctly, Kingdom Hearts 2.5 ReMix.)
Also I'd love to ses Apex of the world from Fire Emblem Three houses reacted to. Since it's a good theme that sums up that game and it's just an interesting piece. The same thing with a vow remembered. Personally I'd say listen to both back to back as A vow remembered leads into Apex of the world and it just feels like you might like it.
You should check out Cohen's Masterpiece from the Bioshock OST. There are some great compositions on that soundtrack you can really tell how much work was put into the music in that game.
Are you only doing reactions to video game ost or are you open to other things? If so, you should react to some anime opening music. Specifically Unravel from Tokyo Ghoul
Hey man, if you're interested in the orchestral version this is the way /watch?v=bzRyxzNPLok&ab_channel=TheOstFan The original release was on PS2 and had was recorded with a full orchestra in a symphonic suite. One of the best in all of gaming imho. I recommend checking out the full thing if you can find it, youtube has consistently taken down full videos of it due to copyright over the years.
I have a request for a music to react, it's a song called "A mighty power" from the game called "The Legend of Heroes Trails of cold Steel" this song is awesome personaly and I think you will like it. I am a newcomer on your channel and I really like your work a lot ^^ salutations from Belgium in Europe !!
Hey, a have a request to you, if you get interessed with this composer, react for Echos of an Elusive Age from Dragon Quest XI, it's a medley of many musics that compose the soundtrack of the game, this is the final music of the game. If you will react to it, take the orchestral version.
Please could you react to Lord of Dead Empire from Fire Emblem Echos: Shadow Of Valentia, There are many more songs that I love from the same game I would like you to give it a try these are: Twilight of the gods, The Heritors of Arcadia, Pride and Arrogance, Praise this Despair !, Prince of Darkness and Berkut Battle 2, sorry for putting so many songs, it is enough for me that you react to Lord of Dead Empire it would be great if you react
The biggest problem about the composer for the Dragon Quest seires is well.......... they have a lot of things that make them a little disliked as a human being. (Of course they are an ok composer though)

NOOO HE LISTENED TO THE MIDI VERSION
An absolute tragedy.
This composer is one of my favorites, but this song was not take of the symphonic suite. The orchestral song is very more beautiful

Awesome!
dragon quest got one of the great music personally. Especially boss music is insane
11:04 it has been said multiple times by fans and overall public that Dragon Quest's Composer Koichi Sugiyama is the John Williams of Japan

Dragon Quest VIII is from Play Station 2 and was ported to 3ds with a downgrade in sound quality.
React to May be I'm a lion from Final Fantasy VIII
If there were to be another Dragon Quest song to look at it would have to be Overture, the main song for every game in the series.
Can you do also Abyss Watchers and Twin Princes OST from Dark Souls 3? Those songs have been stuck in my head for a month now 😂
I’m surprised you have not done Super Mario Galaxy yet! Would love to see that. One of my favorite OSTs
Yes hopefully eventually
Just a humble slave knight Gael request😌
Yes I've been waiting eons through the age of fire. I need the blood of the dark soul.
So glad I found your channel before you inevitably blow up with popularity. Love your videos 🤟🏼❤️
Bruh my love for the persona and the dragon quest franchises and osts is infinite , probably p5 and dq VII my facourite games ever

If you found the time for it, The One Reborn from Bloodborne is also an amazing track, very creepy
Great reaction as always! I suggest you "Festival of the Hunt" from Final Fantasy IX, I'm sure you will appreciate it ;) ;)
Dragon Quest is THE retro RPG. The new games are still sticking to their roots. After all, it's the origin of JRPGs as a whole.
