Back in my 20s and 30s, maybe longer, I had to sew my bras to adjust them to a smaller size around me. I was a 32 D or 32 DD bra. The cups weren't the problem. It was the 32 around. They didn't seem to make it. I guess they thought that girls that were small frame couldn't have large breasts. They were wrong. The size I needed was impossible to find in stores. I'm glad they don't make it that difficult for women these days. I don't have to worry about this anymore because I had a breast reduction. I don't have to wear a bra anymore. Best money I ever spent.
They really need to bring back home economics classes to all of our schools. There was so much practical info taught. Montessori schools start in preschool. The most self-sufficient children I've met.

Thank you. I'll see if i can apply this to any of my non-wired bras. It's all very well having big cups but they invariably come with bigger back (band) sizes too, so they're a pain in the bum (or t*ts) for those of us with a G/H cup but a 32 back.
If you're going to do this (as someone with the same issue), you need MUCH sturdier stitching than this; machine stitching or much tighter hand stitching. I've attempted similar and it's easier to just cut a section out and sew the fastener strip on further along. Depending on how your boobs are distributed, for sports bras you may be able to get away with a larger band and a smaller cup.

One of my friends has a tiny ribcage with large and wide-based boobs... she lucked out looking with the bra's they use for breastfeeding women (since your breasts will be larger during that time, even the petite females amongst us) bonus: they are usually extra comfortable and soft on the skin en do well with washing frequently.

I'm 40DDD and for years I used underwire bras and went I went to have my first mammogram it came out with something wrong, so I was sent to have an emergency ultrasound and then a biopsy. While in my head I was drying of breast cancer waiting for the results... they found out that it wasn't a tumor or anything like that, it was smashed tissue from the wire under my armpit 😅🙏🩷 Never again bought this kind of bras

Use two threads or silk ribbons (you can sew with silk ribbon) and take every other ladder stitch with the first then second. Tie a bow with them both (inside or outside, wherever you prefer) OR use ONE ribbon, start from the top, sew every other one down, then fill in the opposite stitches on the way up, and tie a bow. 😊
I need to add some hook and eye for my sports bra. And the neck area needs some cushion since it's holding up double D or E's. Is this something we could see here?
Thank you for this im a 40A cup which is impossible to buy so have to go to B cup, which means the back constantly rises as its not tight enough which then makes the boobs hang out, brought so many bras that just dint fit right, so now can adjust them, do you need a stronger thread, or will normal cotton do?
It looks like embroidery floss. It's used for a variety of decorative sewing, including cross-stitching. You can find it online or in sewing/craft stores.

I put a piece of moleskin on it and it helps them last a bit longer for me.
These sewing tips I think are for when your favorite bra gets stretched out.
@@Hulachowdown Grosgrain tape/ribbon can also work, but it needs to be cotton rather than synthetic.

I’m losing weight and still have a bunch more to go. I can use these tips to “shrink” my bras until I make it to my goal! Love it!

You didn't show how to finish the stitching ( for beginners).
Tie it off by threading through the loop before pulling all the way through.
I usually pull it through the loop two or three times so it's good and tight. Just pull slowly so it doesn't turn into a knotted mess.

I am using strong cotton thread called mouline, often used for embroidery. But you can choose different type of thread depending on your bra material.
