Chara is kind of a daemon that used to be a normal human in the world of undertale, i forgot what happened, but chara gets ill somehow and dies; and asriel, her friend, somehow gets injured and dies. Chara comes back to the mortal plain when you kill everyone including flowy, she gives you a choice, to delete the dimension and move on; but she still kills you with either choice and your character dies anyway.
If you do pacifist route you get lore drops from certain characters and edgy stuff happens,

teeny tiny correction on the final part. You're character doesnt die, if you choose ERASE the entire universe gets torn to shreds same with DO NOT but Chara does the job instead of you. You survive the onslaught because you are the source of CHARA's infinite power and the reason why they're alive.

14:23 Yes, there are 3 main endings. The Genocide Route (where you kill everyone), The Pacifist Route (where you spare everyone) and The Neutral Route (where you kill half/some monsters and spare the others, there are multiple variations of this ending). Then there's the True Pacifist Route, i think for this one you'll first need to do a neutral route and then a pacifist, i don't remember what it is about sorry :/. There are some other smaller endings and secrets but i forgor lol.

If I’m not wrong there are four(?) Endings for the game depending on how you play might be more but they are called routes as well,
there is
Pacifist(Save everyone),
true Pacifist(save all characters),
neutral(kill some characters), then finally
Genocide(Kill every remaining character),
and fun fact(not really a spoiler) most of the monsters(except for the main 5 or 6) pop up like how Pokèmon pop up in tall grass(if understand the reference)
Another fact(not spoiler) but depending on what system you have you can do different things on it(like special scenes, etc.) I do know there is one for Xbox and Switch but I am unsure about PS4/5.
Also just general info: Chara and Frisk along with other characters do go by gender-neutral pronouns(They/them).

Aside from those three characters, everyone else just gets a strange sense of deja vu upon meeting you in the second run. Characters will mention this sometimes.

Only reason Chara would want to kill is because they were buried without their soul, causing them to be like Flowey. Without a soul, means without love. If they were buried with a soul, they wouldn’t start to enjoy your countless murder. At first, they hated it but soon enough, they started to enjoy it. And so, they still do a punishment to remind you of what you’ve done by killing everyone at the end of a pacifist if you’ve already done genocide
As a still die hard undertale fan (like my pfp (dont bother going into that lore, thats WAY to complicated & deserves its own lore video)) i HIGHLY suggest playing the game, but if u dont, yes watch a lore video, but i do recommend watching a video that COMPLETELY shows how good sans him self is as a final boss, the channel name is "Spaceman Scott" & the video was titled "How Undertale does evil RIGHT"

Chara is actually a good person because they don’t try to stop you when you try doing pacifist but during genocide they are telling you how much monsters you killed and is trying to make you feel guilt and reset but if you don’t at the end they take your soul and and kill the player then when you open Undertale back up she gives you another chance

If you want to experience Undertale, play the game, and while you play the game DO NOT, AT ALL COSTS, LISTEN TO CHAT, idk them but it seems like they would love spoiling and backseating, and have wrong information on the game too, the best way to experience the game is just playing the game how you wanna play, after that you can try something else, that's all you need, and to know the full story of the game you need to do all 3 routes (the game has 96 endings, but 94 is summarized into 1), in one of those routes you need to read some missable dialogue that is hard to miss, and walk back to the beginning of the game, that's it
for lore there's a huge missable thing, you would need a lore video for that

You should def play undertale its a iconic game that has plently of endings. No matter what on your first play through you will either get the normal or genocide ending but on your second you can go full pacafist. Just wanted to point that out if you want to play to see the endings.
