- The past four years have been among the most turbulent in our history-and would have been so even without a global pandemic and waves of nationwide protest against police violence. How did we get here? A collection of recent journalism by Atlantic staff writers and contributors, The American Crisis explores the factors that led us to the present moment and undertakes a damage assessment: what we’ve already lost, and what we still might lose. Editor in chief Jeffrey Goldberg and key Atlantic voices discussed the book, and what we can take from it as we look ahead to the 2020 election.

I love this magazine. It has been a source of sanity for me these past 4 years.
Great discussion! Thanks! Makes me want to read the book!
This was an interesting discussion. I think minority rule is neither tenable nor viable. As long as it remains a possibility because of things like gerrymandering and our antiquated system of electing our president, our democracy is in peril.
It's surprisingly difficult to find a link to purchase the book. Where can I find that?
Saw it on Amazon as Kindle, hard copy, and paperback.
Doesn't help that he gave an erroneous link..... bookstore.org ?!?!?! not a site
bookstore.org ?
bookSHOP.org
Good discussion. Surprised by Goldberg's "um, ah" disfluencies; seems out of character. Not sure which of your panel was typing or clicking while Serwer was talking but that was annoying. C'mon! I know you're keeping it fluid, but geez.
Um.....ahh....um! 😡😡😡😡😡. I need to read the transcript because the filler sounds are unbearable.
I feel the same way. Very distracting.
