This is like the most helpful steps advice I have ever heard from youtube vids. Progressively improving steps from small little steps and not going straight away to split steps might be what I'm missing. Thanks again coach han for the wonderful insight.

We are only looking at the ‘results’ of professional players. However, if you want to learn badminton, you must also be curious about their 'process'. good luck.

I'm so glad I stumble across this channel. Coach Han's teaching is by far the most simplistic teaching I've seen to date. It's so simple and natural.
Keep up the good work. ❤💯

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE! Intermediate player here still learning in her 30s. My coach never taught me the split step. Every training sessions he asks me to "walk" all corners of the court at the beginning (moving 3 shuttles from one corner at a time). Then, during ball feeding sessions and game sessions, from the recording I see myself doing the split step without him teaching or insisting. There are many other footwork behaviors I do on my own without him teaching me and it all came with me doing the PROPER FOOTWORK STEPS properly.

Coach Han - Coach, teacher, philosopher. This is amazing! Because I found split step is so difficult, and usually I'm too lazy to just do steps or mini steps to prepare for clears and smashes but I do know best results are when I do 😅. I will try to relearn from the beginning and start walking with steps again All the time! 😊

Watching just his feet in the end feels like he's almost floating on the court 😄 I love the English narrator voice on this. Very well done! ❤

I have never thought of this, and now that I know, it's really useful because I actually am decent on the top half for skills, but on the bottom half, I barely move and need more footwork, very informative!

I’ve been arguing with my friend who taught me badminton steps about “the right way”😅. I was nervous about learning those correct steps that look efficient but so hard to learn, and could possibly hurt my feet and legs. This video shows a truly helpful advice that first recognize oneself which kind of player u r, and do the proper way to improve steps. Thank u coach Han, for ur opinion that most coaches may never understand(what most people should do to build up badminton skills).

This video shows me the proper way to do the steps. Last time i play, i try to imitate others for the split steps. Its hard to do it when u just a beginner. Learn to walk before u can run. thanks coach han XD

As someone who knows splitstep and with very bad knees as I age, I am reverting back to steps that don’t put stress on knees… still playing but with a bit of disadvantage 😅.

@@full-swing yeah love the game more then I know… and although I miss days I could jump smash and had burst off speed to intercept shots… I m glad I m still playing and putting off surgery for as long as I can 😉… walking and playing a game using trickery can be fun in its own way too and it encourages younger and beginner players to train just to best a slow paced guy who don’t seem to move much… 😂

@@imataquito005 Totally agree, those skillful trickster seniors were what I strived to beat when I was younger and aggressive. Having improved and fulfilled my desire(winning many seniors with speedy game), I realize I am not 20s anymore and prone to injury, so against weaker opponent I am now slowly transitioning to a slower yet more consistent game, to play badminton for longer time.

Take your heels off the floor, and walk with your toes. This is also possible without a break only when the feet have sufficient muscle strength. no more. I recommend this for a 1 year at least. I don't want to hear you don't even try much. I don't know short cut.
If you don't think so, do what you want.
