    The funny thing is, is that in real life the actor who plays Al Bundy, Ed O'Neill could most definitely kick some ass, because he has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, having trained for over 20 years under the mentoring of Rorion Gracie

    None of these beatings were random, every clip had events proceeding and preceding that gave clear reason for them.
    Married ... with Children was all about 4 family members that on the surface seemed to despise each other.
    Yet at the end of the day, each and every one of them would go through fire for each other.
    The situations that led to fights were 80% Al getting angry at people disrespecting his daughter, 10% at people disrespecting his wife and 10% people disrespecting him.
    Nobody was allowed to do that but them among themselves.

      They might show but with a caveat. A character beating up people would be the bad guy no questions asked. Even if the protagonist he would still be implied to be the villain. Back then you could have a character beat up people and not be implied as the villain. Now not anymore. Even then it was unusual. Most sitcoms avoided agressive protagonists.

    I went to a friend's house for a party back in 1988 or so when a huge fight broke out next door. The homeowner -- my friend's neighbor --- was just chilling out in backyard when two guys showed up demanding to speak to the owner of the home. When the homeowner refused to talk to anyone, they began to kick in the front door. The owner of the home came out front and beat the hell of both men with a bat. The cops were called and found both men out-cold on the driveway. The homeowner told the cops what happened and they filed a report without pressing charges on the homeowner. The two thugs went to the hospital and then faced charges for attacking a man at his home. Today the homeowner would have to spend thousands to defend himself in court while the thugs would get a lawyer on the taxpayer's dime.
    I would love to return to 1980's again because people had more common sense than people today. Today everything is relative and gray, there are no right or clear answers. Well, most people of my generation see right as right and wrong as wrong.
    I was taught that if I ever talked back to a cop, I would not be allowed back home again. If I ever got arrested, I could not call home because my dad believed everyone who committed a crime should be locked up until trial. I

    I grew up watching all sorts of controversial content. It didn't make me violent or violent people that I knew. It made us aware of what's around. And that's what is getting censored. Shows that show violence helped face the frustration of life without anyone getting hurt. We've all had a thought of wanting to hurt others. Why not face it honestly like with violence shows. I learned how pointless fighting is because it doesn't solve anything. It shows the results of what everyone thinks about without anyone getting hurt on television. Everything has to be bland so nobody gets offended these days. I grew up watching Looney tunes cartoons as a child. I also remember when they started putting stickers on music they deemed satanic. Most of that music was about corruption in our government and the violence about war. It made people think. That's what censorship is all about controlling what people think.

  • @mattp.3949
    @mattp.3949 3 года назад

    They would never show scenes like this one at 3:18 on TV in this day and age. Al Bundy, in a faux polite tone, asks a rude and pushy man to apologize for bumping into him and the man insults Al for no clear reason. That facial look that Al makes to Bud right before he punches the guy in the face (thus starting the barroom brawl) is that when someone insults you for no reason when you try to be polite to them... that violence IS the solution.

    • @florinivan6907
      @florinivan6907 2 года назад

      Characters can still be violent in sitcoms but no sitcom today would dare to suggest violence is justified or neutral. The main difference is that characters like in Its Always sunny are not meant to be liked today you're supposed to laugh at them not with them. That's the thing that some don't get when they say 'but in this or that sitcom they did x'. Yes but the sitcoms of today take a decidedly negative stance towards this behaviour.

    So Yeah that's how we did it in the 80s and 90s, no guns no BS just straight up toe to toe fight.. win some lose some That's why no a days we don't have men with have boys acting though with guns and behind computer keyboards... Al is still the best football player of all times..

    People should be able to see this kind of stuff too, to see different type of art or acting about feelings. Not just one type of shit. Killing, drugs and shit

    Oh you've gotta watch that show then, its hilarious, it was purposely made to be the opposite of all the other goody-two-shoes TV shows that were on at the time

    The irony is that was all in fun back then and wouldn't be accepted today. Meanwhile today, tv shows have people getting their heads blown out with every cop show. Video games are more violent than ever, but Al Bundy fist fighting is bad. It's just TV. So What!

    They need to bring silly comedy back like this. That way everyone won't be so uptight about every stupid little thing. I know she said she wouldn't like it but go back and watch your own review reaction. She laughed and smiled at every punch he threw. And that's the point. To make you laugh.
