The branching cutscenes could be the reason that you get NOTHING if you break any record on Play Now mode. Not even an acknowledgement during timeouts.
I just passed Kareem's record a week ago in 2k20 and got nothing I do not buy every year and I was checking the reviews for 2k 25 not getting this one either
2k probably had access to the number of people that actually won 12 rings, i'd guess that number is less than a 100, so they decided that wasting time on that animation was probably not worth it
