YAY! I agree. The kids are definitely alright. I'm a university teacher in South Korea. I work with first year students and I can truly say that the kids I see get brighter and more engaged every single year. It's wonderful and it's global. Kids all over the world are more positive and more tolerant than the generations that came before them. It gives me hope.

Made me feel really good hearing that. I think it'll take hard work and constant awareness, but yes, I agree, the world is getting better on the whole.

Very good rant this week. About time we not only looked at something unequivocally good, but something that doesn't involve baby boomers or generation x-ers calling younger people entitled, for not wanting to needlessly be forced through the same hardships as the previous generations, on top of every new hardship that comes with modern times.
Oh god no, heaven forbid they don't want to physically/emotionally/sexually abuse all the future generations because 'tough, that's life, we had to go through it', despite all the overwhelming scientific data showing that the reductions of all those things would benefit society in countless and overwhelmingly positive ways. Also can't forget that racism bit, and sexism, and discrimination based of gender and/or sexual preference. Yea fuck newer gen for not nuking the planet!

I mean, my point was more 'if your going to say generalization about us, then might we remind you of your own'. It was in an attempt to discredit generalizations, by being as obviously over the top (though still having some amount of truth to them).
But errm, yes. Twas indeed a generalization, which indeed do suck some major suck-age.

Oh, Rick - the fuck are we going to do without you?
Did you ever think of that, huh?
No, just wanting to find greener pastures, without a single thought for we, your people!
Lol, just kidding, I'm going to miss you, but I hope you'll be happy. ❤🍁

School is "figuring out the world hard," all right. There's always a few rotten apples in the cart. Weeding them out and disposing of them so that The Kids Remain Alright is the most important task for any generation. Otherwise... let's just say the media aren't exactly blowing smoke when they talk about entitlement.

Sorry Rick, you are missing it, imo.
    Please remember?
The 'kids' you are seeing are the good ones.
    The special ones.
The ones who cared about raising money for your worthy cause.
You are not seeing the rest of them.
    Most of them.
And 'kids' today ARE more spoiled, feel more entitled and are far more 'fragile' then most 'kids' used to be.
When I was in university? The idea of the government paying for our school loans would have seemed ridiculous.
But today...the students don't just want it?
They genuinely feel they deserve it.
    In my day?
    Freedom of speech ruled.
We encouraged people to say whatever they felt...even if it was mean.
Because we could emotionally handle it. It rolled off of our backs.
    Today?
'Kids' are INCREDIBLY thin-skinned and cannot handle the harsher truths.
Thus, the cancel culture is born.
Look, I am NOT blaming them for this attitude.
These are the first, relatively full generation who were raised - largely in daycares from infancy. Sometimes - from 6 months of age.
And the facts are in - that DOES screw up a child. It has to. Removing a child from the unconditional (hopefully) love of a parent as a baby. And tossing them into a mess of strangers. Who are supervised by overworked and underpaid daycare workers? Has GOT to have a negative effect on a child.
It makes them respect their parents less (which they should - if the parents are not putting in the time to raise them? They do not deserve the respect). And it makes them far more spoiled. Because the parents spoil their kids when they pick them up from daycare because - like divorced parents do when they have their child only for a weekend - they don't see them much. So...they spoil 'em.
And since the 'kids' lacked, unconditional love and were spoiled?
    It makes them fragile.
Hence - the cancel culture movement.
And forget the 'my kid loves daycare' nonsense. Of course they 'love it'. They have no knowledge of another lifestyle. They don't respect their parents but they do respect their friends. So, naturally, they want to spend more time with their friends than their parents.
Also, most children remember little before 6 years of age. So these memories will mean little. But the lack of loving parents around/of unconditional love nearby...WILL affect them. It is a psychological fact.
Children who 'grew up' in daycare (generally) have greater, psychological problems then children raised by parents during their pre-school years.
    With the greatest respect, Rick.
'Kids' are more social today - because they were forced to be, being thrown into daycares from infancy.
    Plus, social media.
But, they are far more spoiled, feel more entitled and are more fragile then they were in past generations.
    The 'Kids' are NOT alright.
And it is NOT, their fault.
    It's their parents/society's fault.
    100%.
Really enjoy your show and most of your rants.

    Babyboomers ruined the world.
    Generation X ignored it.
Generation Y (millennials) complained about it.
Generation Z (these kids) may be trying to fix it
We'll just have to wait and see. Hopefully we're not pass the point of no return.
