Nice one Rory, I was lucky to have Chris take me down and up the LLR as part of introducing me to the airspace around Manchester/Liverpool - it was a very valuable exercise and also teaches you to fly accurately :-)
Great video as always! It’s perfectly understandable why people would be wary of using the LLR but as you excellently demonstrated the risks and worries can be managed and mitigated easily enough
david Webber Hi David, great to have you onboard and thanks for the comment. Barton is a good place to visit - always lots going on - and two nice cafes now.
Followed your route with my chart very informative . Can’t wait to do it myself ( one day not even solo yet ! ) incidentally I’ve watched all your videos too !
Harry Marshall that’s great! I’m sure there’s something she’d like to do you could encourage? Plus it’ll be awesome when you can take her flying. Better still, why don’t you both learn?
A very informative and helpful video Rory. Thank you for posting this. I know it was one hell of a commitment with all the studying, the long hours, the hard work, the courage and the sheer dedication to eventually be proficient enough to be able to win your own pilots licence to be able to do this.. but did John really say that he'd been on the back of a motorbike on the Arc de Triomphe???... WOW! RESPECT!!! :-D}
Kevin Chilton thanks as always Kevin, I appreciate the support a lot. As for Jon, yeah I should have made more of that at the time. I always notice ‘the witches Post’ in the edit and that was probably it on this one. Flying the plane gets in the way of the interview a lot but that has to take priority. Presumably he’s strapped on facing backwards too!
:-D) It was almost a throwaway comment he made when he mentioned it..it's just that I still have nightmares about driving around it even now! And the thought of doing it on a motorbike!!! It was another great video Rory, and you did a great job of explaining how best to fly the low-level route which is very helpful, thank you. I shall view this again when I venture north. Keep them coming.
Kevin Chilton yeah it was I guess. Delighted you found it useful. Hopefully you’ll make it up north soon. Thanks for watching and I really appreciate your support for my channel.
Interesting that CAA guidelines are to keep 2nm lateral separation from controlled airspace. MLLR is 4nm wide. Doesn't take 'O' Level maths to deduce that all traffic must proceed along an infinitesimally small vertical slice down the middle!
MrAlwaysBlue yeah, it’s an interesting point. I guess this piece of airspace is a special case where that doesn’t apply, which is partly why I thought making this video might be helpful.
@@RoryOnAir I'm impressed Rory that you often reply before I have even finished watching the vid! My licence has finally come through from CAA. Planning my first P1 on Monday. Taking my Mum from Clench Common to Goodwood for lunch
MrAlwaysBlue fantastic! Congratulations on getting your licence and I hope you have great weather. I still haven’t been able to take my mum up - she lives in Orkney - but she’s mad keen. And yeah, I try to be ‘on it’ on video release day. 👍
Well done Rory, a very clear, precise, informative and interesting video. Well flown and nicely edited 'Captain Auskerry' over 1000 subs and re-heat wake turbulence as well (only got the landing a little wrong because you were thinking of buzzing the tower Ghost Rider?)
I'm glad my silly banter gave you a laugh! I hope your lessons continue to go well too - better to have these experiences for the first time with an instructor next to you!
Unfortunately not. I'm only cleared on the Eurostars and OA is all booked up this weekend. Still waiting for a slot with Chris and some good weather to convert to the Ikarus'. I have at least 1 day in every weekend up to December booked though, just need mother nature to play ball :)
Jonathan Newman well I’d love to hear about your experience but I’m sorry to hear it wasn’t a good one. I would love to know what the beef is at Ashcroft because everyone I’ve met so far involved with aviation seems very friendly and helpful so this situation seems an anomaly. Thanks for watching!
...My experience is the aviation world is still very friendly...some people aren't 😔still don't know what would be his problem with me, example, just because I'm a committee member? This is crazy ...
Rory On Air, I agree. You know I flying overhead a lot (like all pilots who using LLC) and last time I just thought what about if I have an emergency near there...
Yes, Ashcroft is such a shame, with such potential as well. However, the website does suggest pure hatred between the owner and LAC ( anyone affiliated with the club) and the many thousands of cartoons do say something about the dispute. He also has a problem with KHF. I'd love to hear more about the airfield though and your experiences.
Before Rorry was a heli god. Lovely flight.
Very useful thanks
Nice one John. Thanks for watching.

Jason R Wilkinson nice one Jason, that would have been good. Thanks for watching!
Excellent video Rory. Informative and entertaining at the same time!
Richard Kaberry thanks very much Richard - delighted you enjoyed it. 👍

Thanks for bringing us down the LLR with you bud 😀
JP Hughes thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. 👍
Great video I’m coming up to Barton soon - great to watch 👍👍👍
Private Pilot Vlogs awesome -
I hope it’s useful. I’m sure you’ll have a good visit at Barton. 👍

Roger Birkett lovely stuff Roger - I’m delighted you found it useful. Your solo will be an amazing experience!
Rory these vids are going to get me in trouble with the other half...
Harry Marshall how come!?
@@RoryOnAir because it's going to make me take the plunge and she'll protest the expense haha

@@RoryOnAir 2 months ago I wouldn't have guessed I'd be 5 hours into my training! :D
Harry Marshall excellent! I’m very pleased you’ve taken it up.
Really enjoyed this one - super useful to anyone flying the LLR who hasn’t before. Also congrats on passing 1K! Stuart
Stuart The Pilot thanks very much Stuart. I hope folk find it useful anyway. Super chuffed to have passed 1k subs too, yeah!

Yay. That's my Winners' Dinners itch scratched for another month. Woop :)

How about “I’ve watched ‘em all!” Rory on Air badges? Could be the Blue Peter badge for the (not quite so) new millenium ;-)
Jed Wigmore ha ha - brilliant idea Jed!
ha ha, I also tag on "But they're like smaller Cessna's" too when I say I fly Microlights.
Nick Sutton first comment award to you mate! 🥇
he he, Taking the day off work was worth it just for that :)
Nick Sutton have you been flying? Are you flying this weekend?

Nick Sutton would you like OA tomorrow 11 to 1300? I have a pax who can’t go then so I would take DA later in the day if you want OA at 11?
I'm not sure who IS welcome at Ashcroft - my experience wasn't very happy!

"Bollox it up" is that a technical air term?lol
David Hancox ha ha ha - I think it certainly should be!
