This will show you how to automatically delete messages in your Discord using the Inter Punct bot. As the AutoDelete bot is currently having issues then this new bot seems the best way at present to remove old messages. When the bot is installed, it will delete messages from after when you installed the bot, if you wish to remove older messages then you will need to use the /purge command which is shown in this video.

If you want to remove the autodelete that you've created then in your chat box in Discord type in:
/autodelete remove and click on the option
This will now let you select which autodeletes you wish to get rid of.

Hello buddy :) The autodelete bot still kind of works but it involves you hosting the bot yourself so there's a bit of messing about involved. But this Interpunct bot does the job without all that messing about.

@@Andyhhhdx i'm whatever the opposite of tech savvy is when it comes to discord bots, haha, but that's good to know for the future! interpunct is user friendly enough for me not to feel like i need to go back to autodelete tbh!
@@PH0B0PH1L1A I'll be honest, i'm not great with the Discord bots either :) I just occassionally stumble across something which I think would be useful for other then create a video on it and making loads of mistakes setting them up along the way :)
I used Inter Punct bot for a venting channel, individual messages deleting after 7 days. It worked for a certain period of time, but then it fails to work randomly for some reason, forgetting its job to delete. Had to remove and re-implement autodelete rules a couple times.
There is an alternative bot suggestion that works out well: EazyAutodelete
Basically you type "/setup" directly on the channel you wish to delete messages and only for that channel.
Then set "Mode 1" and then "Limit: 1m" (Limit triggers immediately after selecting to delete old messages or not).
After testing, EazyAutodelete is able to delete individual messages after one minute. You can edit the limit to 7d or so.
Hope this alternative is helpful and more stable in the long run. =)

I think the problem with a lot of these bots is that when they are first released then they are great but as more people become aware of them and use them on their servers then it puts a lot of strain on the bot and then it becomes a headache for the creators as people start moaning that them that the bot isn't working properly :)

I posted below in another viewers comment as they mentioned 9 days ago the auto delete function was not working (??). I appreciate your taking time to do these videos. I found this one obviously via the Auto Delete bot that is pretty much now defunct sadly enough.
Hello buddy :) Yeah the autodelete bot we did a video on doesn't seem to work any longer unless you host the bot yourself and then it will work.
The Interpunct bot was recommended as an alternative to the autodelete bot so thought it was best to create the video to help people that were struggling :)
It only lets me delete messages up to 5 minutes ago. it would let me do 24 hours. It says it should allow me to delete messages that are in between 1 second to 6 days old, but that function seems to have been taking away. I want to delete the going live messages that are over a day old on my Now Streaming channel. Any ideas on how to fix this or other options that i could use?

As far as i'm aware it doesn't. I may have something which does do that but just need to test it out and get a video created on it.

I believe you can get MEE6 to block bad words and you have the option of warning the member too if they do it. Would you like me to create a video to show step by step how to do it?

This one allows you to set multiple rules so it may do what you're looking for. If I get a chance then I'll have a quick look at it myself and see if I can figure it out :)
This bot isn't working. I'm getting an error message saying it doesn't have the permissions to do the delete. I followed the instructions on this video word for word.
The purge option also doesn't work

You will need to have a play around with it because I only use it really to completely clear out a channel in my Discord, but there are filter options you can choose where you can have people with certain roles in your Discord have their messages ignored for deletion.

This bot doesn't allow you to do that, unfortunately.
I've seen something which can delete your messages from DMs but it doesn't delete the other persons. It's not possible to get what you've deleted back either, it's a permanent delete.

@@KingOfTheRats Just had a quick look in their Discord server for some info on this. Someone said that is works in some forum channels but not others. Then the creator of the bot said that it doesn't work on forum channels but he is already working on a fix for it. That was on 31st July so it's been almost a month. So if it's not sorted now then I imagine that it will be here very soon.

Set it up in one of your channels and then select mode 2 which is to delete messages after a specified time.
Click on change limit and type in 1440m. You will need to do this at midnight so the bot knows the initial time to start the 1440m count down to delete after 24 hours. I hope that makes sense.
That should then delete messages at midnight every day.

@@GenosXDYes it should be able to. Go into your first channel you want to delete messages from and type in /setup and then set it up with mode 2 with 1440m as the time and do this at midnight.
Then do exactly the same in the next channel you want to do and this should begin deleting from both channels at midnight.
This bot only works half the time. I keep having to delete the rule and doing it over again. Very frustrating

I think because the other bot which automatically deletes messages seems to be dead in the water at the moment unless you host the bot on your own server. I think a lot of people have jumped over to inter punct which has put a lot of demands on their servers. They do have a Discord group you can join and keep updated with the bot and if it goes down and the expected time for it to come back online.
@Andyhhhdx that's the bot I'm talking about, lol. It works for a few days and stops. But I guess that's better than not working at all.
@@KrypticKilla84 ahhh ok :-) yeah i've still got the autobot delete on my server and it's very hit or miss to if it works. I'm finding that Inter Punct is working fine at the moment but there has been a few occasions where it's gone down but it's usually back online again quite quickly.

UPDATE!!! auto delete function is down at the moment but other bot functions are still working. The dev is working on fixing auto delete as of 2 days ago so it should be fixed soon!

How to set one message command like auto delete bot
Hello there 404 gamer :) Unfortunately, this bot doesn't currently support deleting a certain number of messages (unless you manually purge the messages).
They are still making changes to the bot that I can see so there may be a chance of that feature coming in the future.
Can you do a video on the afk bot? I’m tired of people joining the discord and then never chatting, putting the tags or pins, and having nothing to do with the discord server. I have 40 or 50 people in mine and maybe b 2 talk. Plz do one lol

Yes there is, but it will only delete your messages from the dms and not the other persons.

On the menu button, you can toggle from server messages to direct messages and do the same process to delete them as the video shows.

That's not something I've experienced myself so I would just double-check the permissions and maybe give it all permissions just to see if that kicks it into life.

Yes you can set it to delete messages over 30 days. I've just put in 100d on mine and it says messages will be deleted 3 months, 1 week and 2 days.

Unfortunately this bot doesn't allow you to delete DMs.
There is something that should work but it will only delete your own DMs and it's not something that automatically happens, it's something you would need to run yourself.

In Discrub there is a menu option at the top. You can click on that and switch to direct messages. Select the person you want to delete your messages from the conversation you had and go through the same steps as shown in the video.

Unfortunately not, it will only work in the server itself.
There have been some issues with the bot recently due to the sheer number of people using it now. The creator of the bot is working on it to get it back online and working.

Unfortunately, as far as i'm aware, once the message has been deleted then you can't recover it

hi, thanks for sharing, may I know how to send warning message to a user with timed period ( eg. 5-6 hours ), if the user not removing the fault language, after time is out, that user's account and messages will be permanent removed automatically ? Because, users can be from different countries and time zone, the warning message should be delivered to inform the users first, instead of directly removing the user account.

I believe there are a few bots which can do this. I've not used one myself. I believe MEE6 bot allows you to do this in the moderation section. Do you want me to give it a test on my server and get a short video created on how to do it if it works?
