Thanks for the tip about trying switch access using the volume keys. No special hardware needed!

    Very cool video! Super informative.
I'm currently trying to assign a button on my switch device to perform a specific action on my Android device (such as activating Google Assistant so it begins listening for verbal queues).
Is it possible to do so?
I would rather not have to deal with scanning for this feature, as having a designated button for this one action would be much faster and simpler.

This is a cool video demonstrating whats possible. I am trying to set up a switch device for my grandmother to use with a tablet. But I cannot find the switch device for sale anywhere. Is there a specific name I should be searching for? Thank You.

Wouldn't it be super useful to combine the switch device capability with speech recognition, i. e. a virtual, software based switch device that runs in the background and reacts on the keywords "next", "previous" and "select"?

Thanks for the hint! Is it available in Germany? That's where I live :)
Looking forward to the episode on Voice Access!

Christian Bayerlein I think it's available on all the latest Android phones. Not sure about iOS.

Hi Rob, I tried to install it on my Samsung Galaxy S7edge, but I get the message "The early access programme is currently full. Space may open up later.". What can I do? Also, how can I help to translate it into German language? My English is quite good but German would be way more comfortable, plus I can image that there will be confusion between languages when all the lables are in German...

Christian Bayerlein oh I guess they're still working on it. I would imagine/hope that it would automatically localize to language the user set on the phone.
