Discovering the True SOURCE of Happiness - Intro to Advaita Vedanta - Part 1

- The sages of ancient India discovered that atma - the inner divinity or conscious essence of each person - is the true source of happiness. Failing to recognize that inner source of happiness, one endlessly seeks lasting happiness in the world without success.
Swami Tadatmananda is a traditionally-trained teacher of Advaita Vedanta, meditation, and Sanskrit. For more information, please see: www.arshabodha.org/
I have become addicted to your great teaching i live in iran the life here is tough everyone seeks happiness in money ! when i watched your teachings grdually my life changed drasticaly i feel better todays and when translated in farsi many of my friends saw that life could be delightful if they look at inside and not outside .i was on some tranquilazing pills and even drugs but im quiting them because i feel i was looking for happines in wrong places .thanks a lot go on
True. Even I'm astounded by the profundity of Hinduism. And ofcourse the teacher here brings it forth in the most comprehensible manner.
I'm very happy. The knowledge that swami Tadatmananda is teaching is indeed profound. I thank him as well
Interesting to hear from someone from Iran. I have often wondered if the esoteric teachings of Advaita Vedanta could be combined with Zoroastrianism to give Zoroastrianism a more mystical flavor.
Wow!! I thought even Indians in their busy life need to adopt and adapt accordingly....we thought only we face problems in India.... great to know that in Iran, and around the world people are benefitted by Vedantic philosophy and Hinduism!
Good time has now come to India because of an abled visioned Prime minister Modiji...good karma back in India!
What a great outcome, friend! Good on you to leave pills on the side. I too was taking antidepressants for years but I started meditating and now I am following Swami Tadatmananda and his teachings resonate within me. I am taking notes
Just found this channel. Pure gold. So well structured and coherent, explained with humbleness and clarity.
True. This channel is farm more sophisticated, delicate and careful with these teachings than many other Gurus and teachers out there.
@@montelo555 Exactly, and much better quality in all these ways than the typical expensive college course!
I agree!!
I spent a long time with unrecognized sadness. But I decided to change and make age 50 to 75 the best years of my life. It made me have to meet my true self and to let go of people who where negative influences. #50to75
Great name
Way to go Thom 🤟
Great news :-) please advise how Swamiji's understanding and teachings coincide with this uncovered happiness? Also how are you now helping others? Thank you 🙏
It seems that you got rid of the negative internal side of your own self more than getting rid of external negative people in your life.
He summarizes it all perfectly in this sentence: "Self-Nonrecognition leads to a life of endless seeking."
Story: "What are you looking for?" "I lost my house keys in the bedroom." "Why are you looking in the kitchen?" "The light is better in here."
Loved the explanation of pain versus suffering. I understand the difference now. For me, it answers the question, how to become enlightened and still have human emotions, like sadness. Pain, without suffering...beautiful!
Your channel is so cool. Westerners are taking up indian philosophy and sharing them in such profound ways whereas indians themselves are just beginning to adopt western lifestyle! Life is strange haha...hope they will eventually come full circle
It might take a few generations, but it is my hope that the western mind can value these ancient teachings. It’s my honor to help this happen and why I am becoming a yoga teacher.
Communism atheism and anti national sentiments are ruining young indians. They think it's cool to be atheist. These ppl are missing our ancient treasures of wisdom and knowledge
@@thephoenix1601 They aren't ruined! They seem ignorant, they just don't know their transformative power. But each of us can be open to teach some pieces of wisdom if asked
@@thephoenix1601 the irony is that you are being ignorant when you say such words. Very few set of teenagers believe in atheism to act cool whereas a large part of the educated liberal society believes in Atheism, Communism, etc out of their rational thinking. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs as everyone grows up in a different environment. No one is absolutely right or wrong.
@ALL IN 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣..nice joke..Himalayas are basement of indian spirituality like Hinduism, buddhism and jainism
The use of the movie metaphor is gold. Wow. Such a well explained concept.
his pureness can be seen and felt through the screen it is simply amazing the emotions felt watchign and listening
You are road to perfection thanks
You see purity but I see smugness and arrogance.

The release and true peace I feel when listening to these teachings is unparalleled, for so long I have felt unable to disconnect myself from my pain and past experiences.
Thank you Acarya. Defined buddhist, I seek the source of buddhism and the wisdom of ancient Hindus.. and your teachings are like crystal and make me realize that both are soooooo profound and make me happy. Hihi. Thank you again for your methodology.. you are a TEACHER in the most noble way. Namaste
That English translation of verses that Swamiji recited at the end of his talk is very accurate and beautifully done. Thanks.
Hi where can I get the book of adventa vedanta
@@ravitejamalisetti813There is no such thing as book of Advaita Vedanta. There are several texts written by Adi Shankaracharya.
This monk is superb!
His presentations are simple and full of clarity even for a layman.
😇 Love Listening&Learning from you Swamiji. Spanish text is a bonus for me. Heartfelt thanks from Australia.
This is indeed a masterful presentation of the essence of vedantic teaching in an easy-o-understand way that is inspired
Yes, this is an excellent use of digital technology used to understand the essence of Vedanta. Such manuals are required for us to manage mind and body.
Incredible!!! Thank you to Swamiji and the Arsha Bodha family of students for supporting this excellent undertaking.
Your calmness in teaching helps shut down all the inner noise and helps to listen concentrate and understand. You style of teaching show the path to inner divinity. Thank you.

So many parallels to the Tibetan buddhism I've been studying the last few years. Truth is truth.
Tibetan Buddhism teachings are originallyb from India that's why they have many similarities.
Also look up Sarvapriyanda on RUclips. Best teacher of Advaita
just like Amanda Kwong says... Buddhas teachings derive from hinduism, the vedas and puranas... he makes some changes to it that deviate and make Buddhism dsitinctly different but the majority of it is the same. Similar with Jesus, his message is taken from the old testament canon and appocripha of the Jewish torah, he makes some changes to it that deviate and make christianity distinctly different but the majority of it is the same.
i would argue that if you compared the western religions of the holy book Christianity, islam, zoroastrianism, judaeism, and their anti belief system atheism, those systems are VERY different from the eastern religions that probably all derive from the vedas hinduism, daoism, buddhism, jainism, and even indeginius stuff like native american beliefs... The east are all very similar but very different from the west.
In the east 666 is lucky number the west is 777. infact, 108 is 36 three times... 36 is 6 x 6. The dragon is revered in the east. in the west the dragon is condemed. The eastern teachings harmonize with each other. The western teachings divide and clash with each other.... These are just some small differences from the two sides. but there are too many to count. it is clear that both sides come from something different and are apposed to each other.
The ONLY teacher in the west that is similar to the east is the sermon of Jesus in the apocryphal bible, not the canonical bible. Which is why india revers Jesus as well. according to scientists/historians Jesus disapeared for a while into the east... when he came back, his message was eastern but spoken in the western language/belief system that the west could understand/accept. ofcourse, he was killed and the majority of his sermon was later thrown out by emperor constantin and his church officals. And all who had what was considered blasphemy would be condemed and killed by the church.
@@alchemygal3285 Buddha didn't change anything! , Don't degrade him , he is one of the finest spiritual teachers of India. Like many , he also added a new treatise of spiritual wisdom by expanding the knowledge of the sages of the past and his knowledge to come up with the profound teachings of Buddhism. Don't think like the people in west.
Kakashi Hatake its not just the people in the west. i understand how you are thinking. this is hindu teaching. but in the asian areas that teach buddhism and disregard the complete hindu teachings, they teach exactly what i said. they rever buddha as above all the hindu teachers... they dont degrade him... thats a matter of your opinion. if anything, they would say you have degraded the Buddha by putting him at the same level as the other *hindu* teachers. If you read the tripitaka and studied its history, you would have known the many passages that the buddha teaches how the other teachers are in error. he goes extensively over all the hindu teachers. its the same with jesus.. in the christian teaching they disregard the complete hindu teachings, but in india, the hindu teachings, they highly regard jesus. but the christians rever him as above all other teachers... most denominations worship him as God... they would say that hindus degrade Jesus... but that is a matter of their opinion and beliefs. sounds like you right? opinion and belief. again, its not just the people in the west, it is a christian who is not a hindu and it is a buddhist who is not a hindu.
i never degraded buddha by saying he made distinct different claims opposed to the hindu teachings. example, the hindus teach that there is an eternal self. the buddha teaches that there is no eternal self. that is just one distinct difference. my knowledge comes from reading the vedas, puranas, tripitaka, bible, apocrypha, quran, avestan, and so many others, etc. plus documentaries ,the current living teachers, and my college courses that focused on this area of knowledge. where does your knowledge come from? just india? or do you derive your knowledge from the whole world and all of their scriptures and interpretations? or just indian scripture and claims? its good to know the other ppls as well and how they think and to not disregard their opinions based on another groups beliefs.
anyway, there is no need for (!) excitement in ones speech. lets stay civil and peaceful on matters like this. if you wanted to know why i said what i said, you could have just asked me nicely and then reply with what you think strongly about and believe about the Buddha than back it up with your reasoning... out of love and compassion for me.. rather than with excitment and strong speech. It is is even taught by the Buddha in the Majjhima Nikaya, to not disparage or extol someone or a group of people when teaching. you dispparaged a huge group of people, the people in the west.
by disparaging a group of people, how does one expect to help that group when they spread a hint of hate towards them? when extoling a group of people, one has hightened those people over all others and then inadvertently disparaged all others, that are not in the category, as less.... Pride is blinding. it would serve one well to let go of attachment to these identities.
It was wounderfull teaching of vedantha. Had so many doubts which are cleared in an explicit way . Wounderfull presentation and easily comprehensible. The swamiji has explained by means of easily understandable metaphors. Many many pranams to you swamiji.

Thank you for this enlightening session!🙏
JAI SHREE RAM 🙏
I never heard Vedanta explained so beautifully.
Desire like value is not out there nor in consciousness, it is the way consciousness interacts with the objects of the world, The interactions produce the objects of psyche such as love hate, compassion etc. You are in control of the production of the objects of psychic so by avoid the objects of the world by becoming a recluse and meditate for the mystical experience of moksha.
Thank you!
