This looks great, hopefully Academy does a UH-1Y Yankee to match.Maybe Academy will start doing other helicopters in 1/35,as there are so many helicopters that need the 1/35 treatment.
GimbleOnDew yes, but most of the footage of these things is with UH-1Y venoms, and plus it’s just fitting, I wish someone would make a good 1/35 scale kit of a CH-53
This is awesom. I was in HMLA-269 for 5 years then transferred to Pendleton and was in HMLA-369 for an additional five years. I absolutely love the Cobra, i just got this model today. Now im just waiting for the 1:35 scale UH-1Y Venom to come out.
This was my first helicopter build. I really enjoyed it and got a good result out of it. I think a modeler of average ability would have no problems completing this model.
New Academy kits are really nice. I did the Humvee Up Armored ,M1A2 Tusk II, and Grant. All great kits. Went together nicely, just enough parts, photo etch, slide molds.
Thanks Andy for the explanation for slide molding. I had an idea that's how they did it. P V A is good for gluing clear parts because it dries clear. I learnt that from another RUclips video.
I just lay in bed and drool as I watch you make such beautiful models. Classical music is relaxing too. Great job. Thank you for another wonderful vid.
I have to get one of these kits. The AH-1Z Viper is an absolute beast and, in my opinion, it puts the Cobra family ahead of the AH-64D Apache Longbow. I have never thought to use Modge Podge for canopies, I have been using the rather messy Canopy Glue from Evergreen. It gets the job done, but when working on smaller scale like 1:75 it can be a little messy. It still dries totally clear of course.
One minor nit about the display screens. From the Wikipedia AH-1Z article "Each crew station has two 8×6-inch multifunction liquid crystal displays (LCD) and one 4.2×4.2-inch dual function LCD." So a more appropriate color for the screens would be some kind of glossy black instead of the monochrome green.
Wow!!! Very nice work!!!! I really want to do one by myself but I get asthma allergic to the paint chemicals. So great thanks to you and RUclips that I could still have the fun by watching your videos.
Excellent job. I do have the kit and I'm building it now. I'm putting in a little more detail in the cockpit but other than that your build was right on. Thank you for doing this. It truly helped a lot.
Back in 2013 while working at the local airport we had 6 of the army version these great helicopters come in for fuel. They were ferrying them from McCord Joint Airbase in Washington to Fort Hood in Texas. It was my responsibility to fuel each one. It was a chore but it was rewarding too. What was interesting was of the 12 pilots there were 2 females. Most of them were 20 years and younger. I have never built a 1/35 scale model but I have in my stash the M1070 / M1000 truck. Now I want this one! I will have to get out my mangifyer glasses.
I liked the intro section being shot after the build was done. It was kind of like a flash forward scene at the beginning of a movie or TV show. Great job Andy.
Andy to fill seam lines like that get a bottle of tamiya glue and drop a few sprew pieces in side till its a slury consistance and it will make filling them so easy
Really wasn't sure when you started applying the wash, Andy, but it came-out fine. Had no intent to buy this kit - Helos don't figure very high in my 'to do list'. But after this review have added one to the list on a certain well-known on-line auction site ! Best from NZ
Fit and finish on this seems really good (a few mould lines/seams to clean up but no big deal) and instructions are well done. Overall, looks like a great kit. Great job building/painting this kit, thanks!
Love this build. You did a awesome job on it. I want one. A gain you did a awesome job Andy! Thanks for giving us these awesome videos as well. Thanks Steve
That’s looks really good. Weathering was really done well. I use the mission model paints exclusively and the grays seem to match the lo viz decals almost to the point that they can’t be seen on several kits.
Thanks for this vid Andy, I can't wait to pick this one up!! Andy I think you have been watching my videos or you have read my mind :) Purple is the new Black and its looks better on this occasion
What a beautiful kit! i just watched this kit being assembled on another model channel on RUclips - it's so big! Thanks for making things simple, easy to follow and engaging for all of us experienced, as well as beginning modelers! I'll defiantly be on the look out for this kit !
Looks like a great kit, slide molding is awesome. Andy could you do a review or a build of new Trumpeter Exeter cruiser? It looks like a nice kit too with slide molded 1 piece hull and superstructure.
Hey Andy, have you ever thought of trying Testors Model Master Clear Parts Cement and Window maker? It looks like Elmer's School Glue, but it bonds clear plastic canopies to base plastic perfectly. And after the cement cures, it comes out clear, basically invisible.
Hi Andy, another great review, not having done a helicopter (normally AFV's) there looks to be a lot of seams to take care of which look's tough, what is your view on all the seams?
Hey Andy, great job on the model build and letting us follow you. A very realistic looking final result I must say. One question I want to ask you, I have been experimenting with the Tamiya Thin Cement Brushes and have had disappointing results. Many times it seems that the bond made is very weak and the pieces easily come apart. Am I doing something wrong?
Sweeet I can’t wait to get this and the aphache long bow I did this cobra kit years ago looks crap cuz of my skill and now iv restarted gonna be a test of what iv learned
which glue do you use to glue small color-sprayed parts on your color-sprayed model? i never seen you do in your movies . You glue them afterwards in but can you show us or tell what kind of glue you juse for that .... ?
Great video, Andy. The purple background is great, it allows quite a lot of contrast so the details aren't overwhelmed like a black background would do. Question. Since this now competes almost directly with the Kitty hawk 1/48 viper zulu, which is the better kit? Most of my aircraft and helos are of course in 1/48, but my armour is 1/35. As far as I can tell the only other attack chopper in 1/35 is the trumpeter mi-35 Hind. So, new collection in same scale as the tanks, or continue building in same scale as the other aircraft? Edit, oops I see that Academy do actually make a viper whiskey in 1/35 as well
Love your videos and have used many of your techniques to make me a better model builder. However I am struggling with applying weathering. After applying the base color coat I applied an acrylic semi-gloss clear coat and then Tamiya panel line accent. The problem is the panel liner just smudged and made a complete mess. I just saw one of your other older videos mentioned where you used a lacquer clear coat, but did not mention if it was gloss, semi-gloss or flat. Does it have to be lacquer or will an acrylic or enamel clear coat work and what finish should I use. I need your HELP!
Models have come a long way since I last built one back in the early 1970’s.....nice build 👍🏼😊
This looks great, hopefully Academy does a UH-1Y Yankee to match.Maybe Academy will start doing other helicopters in 1/35,as there are so many helicopters that need the 1/35 treatment.
The Marine Corps HMLA squadrons run both, I'm assuming that's why you want the UH as well :)
GimbleOnDew yes, but most of the footage of these things is with UH-1Y venoms, and plus it’s just fitting, I wish someone would make a good 1/35 scale kit of a CH-53
I like these videos. Not too much detail, but more than enough to let you understand what's being done.
This is a piece of a gorgeous kit. U.S. marine viper! Most parts seem to fit very well. Must-Buy Item! Great build. Thanks Andy!

Wow! This kit is irresistible!
This was my first helicopter build. I really enjoyed it and got a good result out of it. I think a modeler of average ability would have no problems completing this model.
Wow... that turned out to Be a pretty decent size Chopper Awesome work !
In Germany we would consider Andy as an "Ehrenmann" because he shows us all those Nice kits
New Academy kits are really nice. I did the Humvee Up Armored ,M1A2 Tusk II, and Grant. All great kits. Went together nicely, just enough parts, photo etch, slide molds.

Nice chopper. Beautifully built !
That is some kit.Rather you than me with the Minigun and tail rotor assemblies, they look so fiddly. The finished article looks fantastic.
Made couple of previous build attempts. Eventually want to complete a pair for my diorama.
I just lay in bed and drool as I watch you make such beautiful models. Classical music is relaxing too. Great job. Thank you for another wonderful vid.
Awesome Surprise from Academy Claus LOL, Turned Out Very Nicely. Thanks for Sharing Andy n God Bless All

Testors makes clear parts cement. It works pretty good.
Final reveal background was great Loved the purple

Terrific Andy...thanks for sharing this one 👍🏻
I think I like this intro better, with the model prebuilt
Fit and finish on this seems really good (a few mould lines/seams to clean up but no big deal) and instructions are well done. Overall, looks like a great kit. Great job building/painting this kit, thanks!
This is awesome thank you. I just ordered one. Arriving tomorrow. Will certainly be referencing your build process.
Hi Andy, once again you have produced another great build.
Nice one Andy great build and also a great way to a video with the build all done Steve 🇬🇧
Great build Andy. Will definitely be getting one of these. Hope it’s a big seller and Academy will consider more new tool 1/35 rotary wing birds.

Beautiful build
Thanks Andy, informative and inspiring build
Hope they de the other cobras like this going forward
Like your editing this time.
Beautiful kit!!
Andy you are the man!
What no Sugar Plum Fairy? That's okay though somehow the Blue Danube was very appropriate as usual great work thank you so much for your dedication
Great job Andy, as usual 1/35 scale helicopters are real beasts to work on but the results are worth it. Looking forward to your next build
Beautiful kit and great build!
Really nice kit, looks great!...Bill
That's really cool model
Great to see such a 😎 bird in 1/35.
That’s looks really good. Weathering was really done well. I use the mission model paints exclusively and the grays seem to match the lo viz decals almost to the point that they can’t be seen on several kits.
Top work andy👍🏻
Great job! Just a note though, Academy got the colors wrong. The correct colors are 36375 for the main body and 35237 for all top surfaces.

It is a good kit. 👍
nice kit andy
Great video as always. Perhaps that is a good way to start your videos, with the finished model as introduction. Keep them coming!
Nice build Andy!! 2 Thumbs Up!!
I like the purple background! Green might look good too ;-)
Andy, for clear parts try to use Humbrol Clear Fix. 😉
It's on the list!
I see you are out to spill that bottle of Tamiya Glue again? Been waiting for a new video. Cool kit.
Looks like a great kit, slide molding is awesome. Andy could you do a review or a build of new Trumpeter Exeter cruiser? It looks like a nice kit too with slide molded 1 piece hull and superstructure.
Great job buddy!
Hey Andy, have you ever thought of trying Testors Model Master Clear Parts Cement and Window maker?

yeah old school style video!
Great job!

Very nice
Hi Andy ... thanks for the nice preview ... looking gerat!!! ... greetings Make*
What a great video ,one of the best helicopter for a long time will be ordering this week for one😀
Which tamiya acrylic would you recommend for this this to match the colour you use
Sweeet I can’t wait to get this and the aphache long bow I did this cobra kit years ago looks crap cuz of my skill and now iv restarted gonna be a test of what iv learned
I like the "mistake" new intro
FLIR, Forward Looking Infa Red
which glue do you use to glue small color-sprayed parts on your color-sprayed model? i never seen you do in your movies . You glue them afterwards in but can you show us or tell what kind of glue you juse for that .... ?
You should build more stuff like this like Helios and planes and figure s and boats that's what I build
Could you see if you could go to one of the manufacturers and do a video on how the kits are made? Id love to see that.
Just one quick question (and forgive me if it's already been asked) but how did you like using that "hodge podge" stuff for securing the canopy??
Great video, Andy. The purple background is great, it allows quite a lot of contrast so the details aren't overwhelmed like a black background would do.

Awesome build of what looks like a great kit. Though I shudder at the thought of the price once it arrives here in NZ.

As always amazing video, can't wait for this model to land in India. :)
KEEP THE PURPLE ANDY
I know I’m kind of liking it myself
@@AndysHobbyHeadquarters YES, MODELING GOALS ANDY
And do you airbrush the lacquer clear coat or is it a spray can?
