- Come take a tour of the Old Talbott Tavern and see what it’s like to eat a great lunch at a quaint, Colonial era stage coach stop and Inn. Built in 1779,the Old Talbott Tavern not only has great food, but also an old time atmosphere in a perfectly preserved, 200-year old tavern and hotel. Stick around for the latter part of the video as we go ghost hunting throughout the tavern .
As always super great reviews and spot on about the food 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you. Can’t wait to go there and spend the night.
@@goodallscountrykitchen Your welcome good sir👍👍👍👍👍
great review the food looked great
Thank you. Very neat ambience too.
I'm gonna eat at that tavern next time I get to Bardstown and try one of those hot browns. I've been in Kentucky now for 8 years but never ate one. Looks yummy.
Go to the tavern for atmosphere but go across the street at MAMMY’S for the better Hot Brown.
Good job, brother Jon!😊
I have driven through Bardstown a couple of times for work and thought wow this is such a cozy awesome little town!
You got it! Very cozy!
I love historic stagecoach taverns! Thank you for showcasing so many unique places to dine. Now I can't wait to explore Louisville and other parts of Kentucky 😊
Yes, this is a must visit. A trip back in time.
Great video , man! John is always a great addition 👍
Thank you! And yes, Jon is a life saver.
Hey Jerry, what a beautiful building and town. So entriguing that its haunted. My kind of place. Love the double snapping turtle bites on that sandwich. Looks to yummy. Thanks for this historical vid. Love it. Karla in Cali.
Glad you liked it. You’re welcome.
Thanks for sharing this! I want to put a visit to Bardstown on my bucket list!
You’re welcome. I hope you have a great time.
I remember in the 70s being taken to a restaurant that looks very similar to this one and their specialty was fried chicken livers! Wasn’t my thing but I remember my family having a great time. Wish I had a better memory!😮
I haven't seen the food yet but shout out to the sign painter who lettered the building great job sign brother.
I’m with you on the Brown hotel. Was going back there again for the hot brown and it had jumped up to $30. Last time I‘ll be going there. 😡
I hear ya. I can’t do it. It’s a matter of principal.
To go along with the history lesson - they wouldn't even have had gas lighting for maybe close to a hundred years, since gas lighting was not used widespread indoors until about the 1880's. They would have relied on the light from candles, fireplaces, & oil lamps. That would be spooky if they had dinners by those sources of light. You have got my interest to try them again after probably a couple of decades.
It was really neat to tour the place. I talked my wife into spending the night there sometime soon.
Love the tavern!! Next time you’re out this way, could you do a review on Laha’s red castle in Hodgenville?
It’s already on my list. I’ll get there sometime this summer.
Barry I have watched several of you videos now, lots of great places..What I don't understand is you are the condiment king...You don't actually get the flavor of the food...You drown it in sauces...But you do you...
You’re not the first one to say that. I make the server sneak me Worcester sauce at Jeff Ruby’s. So yes, I am tge condiment king.
@@goodallscountrykitchen However you like it, still enjoy the reviews..Keep'em coming...I will be trying out Mozzapi this weekend. Hope it's a good or better than Coals artesian pizzeria..
@@clifft7655 better than Coal’s. Coals is good though.
@@clifft7655 and thank you for following my channel.
You should do a top five best and haunted restaurants for Halloween
Hang out for Frank and Jesse James gang when in town fun fact Frank James was a decon of the church I grew up in here in Nelson County
Now talk about living a double life? Bank robber and Deacon.
As a lifelong resident of KY, I'm intrigued. I need to plan a visit. Did you find out room rates?
No, I forgot. Sorry. I do want to spend the night to see how scared my wife gets every time she hears a noise. Every room was occupied when I was there yesterday, so I’m sure you have to reserve it well in advance. I’m sure the rates are on their website.
Oops, forgot to say that they food looked pretty good. Not sure how much the Hot Brown was, but I'd try it. Also, don't worry about that heart because the hot brown is turkey so it's a healthy option.
Hot brown was great. I’m sure the cheese sauce and bacon are healthy options also. Lol!!
👍👍
The murals were severly damaged in the fire. They had some color before that. Before the fire they were actually covered over for a long time by wall paper. Also, you missed about five bullet holes in the mural to the right of the fireplace.
That place is so cool. Love the history of the place and the ghost stories.
I remember ladies told you to put that pinky down 😂
What’s the name of the Resturant that gave the frozen bun? We need to know which places to stay away from.
I don’t remember the name but it was in Frankfort.
Barry my friend, really like these historic places , food looks delicious , but I'm with you on the $30.00 for a hot brown, it doesn't cost that at the Brown hotel in Louisville where it was invented & their's is really good. God Bless & looks like you are healing well pal, I have a ways to go
You might want to watch that part of the video again where I talked about why we ended up at Talbott Tavern instead of The Brown Hotel. God Bless you. Get well soon.
@Goodall's Country Kitchen Barry, will do, I watched the whole video unless I missed that part about the Brown hotel because the phone rang or my wife interrupted me , I don't remember, healing but slowly & still don't know for sure if I need 1-2 more back surgeries. God Bless my friend
@@goodallscountrykitchen Barry, ok I watched it & saw the clip about the Brown hotel, I thought you meant the hot brown was $ 30.00 at the Talbott, l guess the Brown hotel has not updated their menu because I googled & it said the Brown's hotel was $ 23.00 , so my mistake as I miss understood because I wondered why you got one there at Talbott because you said I'm not paying $30.00 for a hot brown , God bless pal
@@stevelogan5475 I looked at the menu available at the hotel bar.
@Goodall's Country Kitchen Barry my friend , ok, I' m on the same page as you now, lol, God Bless you & yours pal
The person who invented the hot brown I'm sure we're related.
Prices are getting ridiculous
I thought the prices were reasonable. Three entrees, two drinks, two desserts with ice cream add-ons only $48.00
I would never pay $30 for a hot brown. Goodness!
Heck no!
You look and sound like alex jones you could be his brother
Who is Alex Jones?
@@goodallscountrykitchen You don't want to know. Trust me.
@@hippydippy I’ll take your word for it. lol!
